Server Alex was an outstanding and gracious host. It was a fixed price Mother’s Day Brunch, the food quality was phenomenal, so fresh it was like eating straight out of the garden. Kitchen was surprisingly slow.
Wine flight was great! Our service was a little slow, and some things we asked for were forgotten. This may have been because our waiter was on his second day. Overall, it was delicious. We ordered Brussels sprouts & meatballs as appetizers and I would highly recommend. We were also there celebrating my friends bachelorette, and they brought out a complimentary champagne for her which was a nice touch.
Not your typical Italian food. Limited entrees. More Mediterranean style ! Servers extremely helpful
The hostess was under trained and abrupt. We were early, Space was available and she was downright rude.
Food and service were excellent. We had an 8:30 reservation, and we felt like we were being a little rushed.
While we all found items to our liking, the menu is a bit limited.
Outstanding food and service. Always a good experience
We sat outside and had a very enjoyable experience.
Wait person mixed up one of our appetizers and we had to wait another 15 minutes for chef to prepare the correct one.
Also, we asked to take the unfinished entree home and never received it.
Elegant atmosphere and delicious food! We had the carbonara pizza, fish and meatballs and shared the 3 dishes between the 3 of us. The wine and beer and cocktail selections were excellent and interesting. Our server, Hailey, was most gracious. It was a delightful evening!
Red Pump Kitchen has great food and it's in a great space! The critique I hear most often are that the portion sizes are small for the amount you pay.
Cozy place - an added benefit are the large windows facing the mall that are opened when weather allows. The wine list is extensive, with terrific variety, and the menu is somewhat small but, again, with impressive variety. Last - but certainly not least - the food is absolutely superb. We enjoyed brussels sprouts as an appetizer (don't miss), and our entrees were the poached (in olive oil) salmon and the skirt steak. We'll gladly pay the price for this type of preparation and presentation and will make this one of our go-to places.
Brussels sprouts were amazing! I could make a meal off of those. My pasta with pine nuts and mushrooms dish was tasty and an interesting combo. Service was top notch. Great ambiance for dinner date or girls trip. Our favorite food experience in Charlottesville!
We visited with two other couples and we were very dismayed by the poor service and average qualify of the food. As a former server, I rarely complain and am understanding of what restaurants have to deal with. But the restaurant was not very busy, the server was terrible and the food was just...average. It's hard to get excited to return to a restaurant where it took 30 minutes to receive your drinks after ordering and 30 minutes to get your credit card back from the server.
Such a cheerful place with inventive cocktails, widely appealing menu and warm servers. One of the best in Charlottesville.
Loved our meal at Red Pump Kitchen!!! Highly Recommend!!
We had the most amazing dinner! I chose the Salmon, and I usually do not gravitate to that at a restaurant but I am so glad that I did. Best dinner we had in a long time!
Wonderful food and really liked the space. Maybe a little pricey but their pastas are handmade and meats are locally sourced I believe.
Would certainly eat at Red Pump again, but not on a weekly basis
The food and atmosphere were outstanding. Highly recommended. The portion sizes were on the small side, but were sufficient.
We enjoyed taking advantage of the Chefs Choice Wine flight.
The food could have been better.
The place is noisy...we had to shout at each other.
Service was great...we had a kind waitress who found out the important wine info questions we asked.
Have a printed list of the wines offered for the wine flight...it would make the overall experience much better.
Roasted Brussels sprouts appetizer was sufficient to share; the pasta in the Lamb ragu dish was fresh and tender and portion was just right; panna cotta for dessert was also perfect. Service was friendly and efficient without making you feel rushed. Better than we expected.
Dinner with extended family including out of town relatives. Food was excellent. Setting was lovely; windows open on a beautiful evening which helps maintain a good noise level. Service was less than ideal, unpleasant waiter really impacted the experience.
Our entire experience here was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was intimate but also engaging. The food was phenomenal, and the service was outstanding. Our waiter, Hector, was patient, helpful and very knowledgeable about the wine and food. I would 100% recommend this restaurant for any occasion!
Had the tagliatelle alla chitarra and it was fabulous. Lamb ragu was light and flavorful. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Another in our party had the pizza - also great with wonderful crust. Red Pump Kitchen is worth a visit.
Fabulous food, different from usual, true gourmet country Italian at its best.
Great food and ambiance was great as usual. Large party next to us was unusually loud and noisy; restaurant may not be the best venue for larger parties due to the relatively small size of of the dining area. Several couples next to us got up and moved when another table became available due to the noise. Otherwise, the food , ambiance and service was great.
Such a lovely experience that began from the moment we entered and were greeted by the manager I believe. Our server was delightful and the food was fabulous. The atmosphere was so gracious. Hope to visit again.
While we love the food there, the noise level is a problem to the point you can barely here the person across from you. In addition, the high tables cause you to hit your legs/knees when sitting down.
Wonderful service and interesting menu! Our server Hector did a super job of recommending wine pairings and took great care of us. We arrived earlier than our reserved time, but we were immediately accommodated by a gracious hostess. We will be sure to return!
Great server! Very nice young man. Two small children in pj's were running amok. When you pay these prices for a nice meal, you want a certain atmosphere. Food was well prepared, well-served, except the beets. The ground nuts seemed to contain bits of shell. Otherwise, really delicious. Great cocktails! Much to recommend, but somewhat inconsistent.
We had such a phenomenal time... our server was incredibly fun, accommodating, and professional. The food was divine! We loved the ambiance. I would return in a heartbeat -- and intend to!
We all had a great meal , our waiter Josh lacked luster
Went for a date night. The bread was amazing, as were the sprouts and the seasonal burrata. The pasta and pizza were solid, but I wasn't blown away - I wouldn't say they were worth $17 and $25 respectively. The service was excellent and the ambiance perfect. We had a great time, but probably won't go back for awhile due to the price.
This restaurant is perfect for a fancy date night!
Food was delicious and the staff was incredibly accommodating for us with our 15 month old daughter. Delicious Italian food, homey and rustic. We took advantage of the Sunday wine deal and enjoyed a fantastic Boudreaux. Would definitely dine here again.
Wonderful food, cocktails and wine, knowledgeable and energetic service, outstanding decor. Would highly recommend
Everything was wonderful. The Rockfish was cooked perfectly and the recommended Pinot Noir paired perfectly. Highly recommend.
One of the most disappointing Valentine’s Day meals I’ve ever had. Food was bland, tasted premade, and came out way too quickly to be made-to-order. There were just four small pieces of lobster in the lobster dish, the pasta dish was as much onion as pasta, and there was way too much truffle on the mushroom toast, which was also cold. Staff started cleaning up before we were finished and was drinking/hanging out at the bar before we had left. Way overpriced, lights were way too bright, music was way too loud — just a terrible experience for an expensive Valentine’s Day meal.
Waitress rushed us and was not respectful/polite. Food was good but small portion size. Spent a lot but left the restaurant still hungry.
My wife and I throughly enjoyed our Valentine's Day meal. The wine selection was very good as well. Our servers and hosts were very friendly and truly added to a very memorable experience.
