Red Pony Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Excellent, creative menu. Excellent server Jason - clever and quick without being at all intrusive - attentive without hovering! We were seated next to the window into the kitchen and had a great show with our meal. All in all, a very fine experience. We'll be back.
We took our teenage daughters out for our yearly Christmas weekend. Your restaurant came highly recommended by a close friend & we weren't disappointed. Our granddaughters loved their food & enjoyed everything about the restaurant. Thanks for helping our yearly Christmas outing become another special memory.
This was my second meal at the Red Pony and my expectations were high based on the first visit. The second courses and entrees were excellent, but we were a bid disappointed with with the appetizer course. We ordered a lump crab and a California roll entree and both were underwhelming. The amount of lump crab was about the size of a golf ball and was overwhelmed by potatoes and a spicy aioli type sauce and had insanely hot jalapeno peppers as garnish. The California roll was not nearly as interesting or textured as we had hoped. Not to dwell on the negative. The brussel sprout and cauliflower second courses were great as were our entrees, and the service and atmosphere were conducive to a great evening out with old friends. We enjoyed being seated upstairs.
I really like this place, but this time it was not as good as previous visits. Mind you, it was not bad, just not as good. The new menu wasn't diverse enough, and some good staple dishes were not offered. The town square was jam packed as it was the Christmas Tree parade, and it was busy everywhere. But that was not a good enough reason to have food delivered cold. Not even warm....... COLD! A $50+ steak not perfect is unacceptable. Management made good on all shortcomings, but they should not have happened.
Soooooo...... I will be back, and still recommend, but do not guarantee your satisfaction.
Very loud. Service was slow. After dinner, we ordered two chocolate dessrts and one creme brulee, we only recieved once chocolate dessert which we shared so we could just leave. We were not charged for the other two items. The server only came around when there was a purpose to deliver or pick. Water refills a miss.
I have been here many times and usually LOVE it...... unfortunately the last time was not good. Appetizer was oysters--- they would have been great IF they weren't over cooked- they were like smoky chewy little balls. Both entrees (meatballs and shrimp/grits) were too salty. Our waiter also did not service our table very well for the drinks. We were not drinking alcohol, so I guess that made him think we wouldn't need refills. Hopefully this was just a bad night. For $100, I want a meal that will make we want to come back. This wasn't it.
For the fourth time I thoroughly enjoyed eating at the Red Pony. We sat at the bar to have a drink first and the bartender was outstanding. He let me taste three different wines before he got me the perfect glass. Our meals were great and I look forward to returning again.
My husband and I had just driven down from Illinois for an event the next day and had been referred here by a friend. One of the best dining experiences in quite awhile. From the bartender to the waitress to the meal itself. All five star. The chef is phenomenal and the combinations of flavored were interesting and serving sizes perfect. I had a cocktail called Marco Polo that was beyond words!! Will definitely stop in next time we are in town. Thank you!!!
Normally I don't give all 5 stars because I feel like when people see it they don't take it seriously. Though this restaurant truly is all star. The food is so unique with so much flavor. The staff truly makes Red Pony the exceptional restaurant that it is.
Tuesday night was an outstanding choice as there was a 50% wine discount, and I had a delicious Cote de Rhone. I started with a really delicious Lamb lollipop appetizer that was four generous sized chops with parmesan and pesto. They were cooked perfectly and my favorite part of the meal. For the meal, I ordered the filet with risotto and asparagus. It was delicious and I highly recommend the dish. The filet was overcooked, but the server completely noticed and tried to re-fire the meal. I insisted that the steak was still delicious, so he and the manager comped my fantastic appetizer. This made for a fantastic over-all experience and I will definitely return. That is really good service and super management.
We love Red Pony--it is always dependably great! We brought friends from Australia and I had asked in advance for a nice table. We were seated at the best table (as far as I am concerned), on the second floor by the window. Our server was excellent; knowledgeable and fun. Our food was wonderful, as expected; shrimp & grits, scallops/risotto, steak + shrimp and grits. Very fresh and tasty salads. We will continue to return!
