Red Pony Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I can’t say enough good things about Red Pony. My husband and I don’t get to come eat here often enough, usually just for special occasions, but Red Pony never disappoints! The food is exceptional: the steaks and other meat dishes are always seasoned and cooked to perfection, and paired well with excellent side dishes. The wine and drink menu is extensive, so they have plenty of great options to fit your taste and your meal. And the service is always prompt and attentive, but without hovering or smothering. Will definitely be back more often in the future!
I wanted to go somewhere different for my birthday, so I chose Red Pony from the options on Open Table mainly because it was something totally new to me. I was not disappointed. Every single thing that came to the table was amazing. My group all ordered different cocktails, each of which was a smash hit. We also got a couple of appetizers (Patatas Bravas [basically cheese friess] and some southern-style gnocchi [made with grits instead of potato]), which totally slayed at our table.
Then there was the pot pie. Oh god, the rabbit pot pie. I'm a big fan of pot pie. I could eat pot pie for every meal. But this rabbit pot pie was transcendent. I truly believe I died and went to pot pie heaven. My wife, who does not like pot pie, liked this pot pie. She actually said of the scallions she ordered, "I ordered the wrong thing." Do yourself a favor, and get the pot pie.
The cowboy sushi roll and elk ragu were tasty starters. We reordered the cowboy sushi twice. I’ve had the shrimp and grits, which are amazing so I ventured out and tried the sea bass with butternut gnocchi. It was fabulous. My husband had the broccoli beer cheese soup, which was also very good. Our cocktails were also delicious.
Went on New Years Eve. Best experience that I have had at a restaurant. Not only was the food fantastic, but the manager was gracious enough to comp our drinks as our reservation ran barely late. Not to mention, my spouse and I misread the menu and weren’t looking at the NYE menu before reserving. This posed a problem for my girlfriend as she is a vegetarian and nothing was available. However, the chef kicked into action and made a special meal catered to her for all 5 courses. Service was outstanding, the manager was fabulous, and the food is unbeatable. This place is a must, if you are around the Nashville/Franklin area!
We had an outstanding time. Staff was accommodating and friendly. We went NYE and it was super busy but the folks at the front and management came to check on us and update us on our table. The food was TO DIE FOR and the drinks were unique and very tasty!!! We will be back
My wife and I made our reservation for New Year’s Eve, and we had an excellent experience. Our waitress and the manager were very friendly and accommodating to us. The food was great, and the cocktails were very tasty and well balanced. The atmosphere lends itself to great conversation!
Table service and food quality was excellent. Bartenders are a little arrogant with their drinks. God forbid you try to order an after dinner shot, as we were told by one, "We are not that kind of place." Good to know.
Overall a great find in downtown Franklin if you are looking for a quiet, very laid back place. Like a place to take your parents or a significant other for an anniversary. I certainly wouldn't recommend taking a group of friends looking for some fun.
The Serving Team was excellent and friendly. Our finished dishes didn’t stay long on our table. The idea of a four course meal felt special for New Year’s. The food was good and was lovely, but it wasn’t excellent or seem to equate to the higher ticket cost. The rabbit croquette had good flavor. I wish they would have been more crunchy. The butternut squash bisque tasted good, but I wish it would have been thicker. The pork chop was juicy, but a little tough to cut into. The greens were excellent that came with the pork chop. The bourbon chocolate bread pudding seemed on target, and the accompanying caramel ice cream was good as well. I appreciate the special idea of a four course dinner, but the lack of more full flavors left me a little disappointed.
Service and atmosphere were great however the food wasn’t what we were expecting. We went there for New Year’s Eve dinner and were really disappointed in the food for how much we spent. We had 4 different options for each course because of the designated New Years Eve menu. The appetizer was ok but really small. My soup and her salad were ok but nothing special. My wife and I both got steak because we heard how good it was. This was the worst part by far. Both of our steaks had fat throughout. The bread pudding dessert was really good. Overall it was ok but for a $265 meal for two people including 2 glasses of wine and 1 beer , the value was terrible. Just glad I had a $100 dollar gift card but still felt cheated.
Great food, fantastic service. They brought us a small appetizer since it was our first time to the restaurant. They took us an hour earlier than our reservation time with no questions asked. Aaron was our server and when he heard we were visiting from out of town, gave us great recommendations of other places to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Only thing that could use attention is the reservation website said about $30a person, and it was priced higher than that.
This was our Christmas Holiday date- Great service- and enjoyed upstairs where used to be outdoor patio- lovely "sun porch" patio feel to that particular space- Service was great- and enjoyed perfectly prepared steak and variety of vegetable options. Well presented and enjoyed quiet ambiance upstairs. Good cocktails. Will definitely go again!
This was our first time at Red Pony, and what a wonderful experience. Jaclyn, our waitress, saw to our every need, and is without a doubt the best server I have ever had anywhere. She was so knowledgable and made wonderful recommendations for our dinner choices. I'm sure whatever we chose would have been delicious, but Jaclyn's insights and attentiveness really elevated the whole evening. We will definitely ask to sit in her section on our next visit!
Our first visit and it was fantastic! Our waitress Nadia was incredibly knowledgeable about every dish and answered all our questions like a chef. I loved the upstairs cozy table for 2 at the windows. The menu changes regularly so our curiosity will have us going back for sure.
The service was great. The meal started off good, but then took a turn when the special came out and it was all fat. You would think a Chef cooking a rib-eye would notice the shape the cut of meat was in prior to putting it on the grill unfortunately our friends got the worst meal ever, and were so disappointed as we had told them great things about Red Pony. Then the manager acted as if our friend had received a steak that was cooked to the wrong doneness. He actually made our friend cut into the next steak as if he were a five-year-old child; it was quite embarrassing.
Ordered the oyster appetizer, could not see or find an oyster , it was a joke, finally pulled one out smaller than 1/2 dime.
I think the restaurant needs to drop this from the menu unless I just happened to get a horribly small batch of oysters.
I got shells sauce and nothing else. Service was excellent. Ordered the scallops, it was the size of an appetizer.
Portions continue to get smaller here. We eat here regularly and went home hungry.
We've lived in the area for 20+ years and this was our first time to visit Red Pony, mainly because we don't think of downtown Franklin first when considering where to go out. We met another couple for a holiday celebration on Friday night at 6:30, prime time for Red Pony to shine.
Food was very good, with a fun variety of choices. We all had different meals which were excellent. The sides were well prepared and tasty too. Drink selection was good.
Now the reason for my rating: the service was terrible. Not that our waitress was inattentive, she just couldn't get anything coordinated from either the bar or the kitchen. Our friends received their drinks about 20-30 minutes before we did, so they waited until ours came until we were able to toast the celebration. Then when we ordered our food, three of the 4 entrees came out together, but the fourth (a burger!) took another 30 minutes to come out. This time we didn't wait to eat or our food would've been cold.
At least the split bill was accurate and timely.
So, now the question is, will we eat there again? I put a note on my signed receipt about my disappointment with the service and provided my phone number, but no contact as of yet. Maybe when they read this, I might hear from them. If not, there are plenty of other places to get a good meal, even in downtown Franklin.
Excellent, creative menu. Excellent server Jason - clever and quick without being at all intrusive - attentive without hovering! We were seated next to the window into the kitchen and had a great show with our meal. All in all, a very fine experience. We'll be back.
We took our teenage daughters out for our yearly Christmas weekend. Your restaurant came highly recommended by a close friend & we weren't disappointed. Our granddaughters loved their food & enjoyed everything about the restaurant. Thanks for helping our yearly Christmas outing become another special memory.
