Red Pony Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We sat a table looking into the kitchen which was awesome. Your kitchen staff worked together effortlessly . We had the elk and pheasant as the main course both were cooked well. We had your taking of chicken and waffles with the rabbit. The candied bacon was a great compliment. The crime brûlée was very good, but the triple chocolate cheesecake with raspberry mousse was amazing. I don’t care for raspberries, but this was very good.
The atmosphere, attentive staff and food were fantastic. Asking our waiter for suggestions because i don’t eat a lot of meat, he said the kitchen could absolutely make me a vegetarian dish that’s not on the menu. It was the best veggies I have ever eaten! All of the service staff was above par and I felt like I could have sat there all night! No rushing, such a comfortable experience. Have eaten at a lot of new Nashville restaurants and this beats them all out of the water. Hidden gem on Main Street!
The elk was rubbery and tasteless and the pizza overdone and salty. Lamb chops, lobster bisque w/o visible lobster were good as were shrimp and grits and guacamole appetizer Chocolate birthday special was just fine for 5. Nice setting if a bit noisy for old folks with hearing loss.
It was my wife's birthbday and they printed the menu's with "Happy Birthday Heather" at the top. We brought our children (13 & 7) who enjoyed the meal as well. While it is not the normal place to bring children, Red Pony was very accomodating. Overall the price may deter some, but the food is excellent. This is our go-to spot for an evening out.
And... the waitstaff is excellent. We have had the pleasure of being served by a waiter (Tim) that we first met at another restaurant; all of the other waitstaff are like him, attentive and responsive.
My wife and I have always wanted to dine at Red Pony but somehow never got around to do it. Finally we made the effort and so glad we did. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. Made us feel at home. The food was excellent from the appetizer, salad, to the main course. The dessert was a perfect way to end the evening. We'll be back!!
We enjoyed the Red Pony a year ago and we’re looking forward to a return visit. The service and atmosphere were good but the food wasn’t. The oysters were past their prime (fishy), the Brussels salad wasn’t prepared properly and the ingredients in the entrees weren’t up to the standards that one should expect from a restaurant as pricy as the Red Pony. After an incredible first experience a year ago, we were disappointed. We had recommended the Red Pony to many of our friends but, sadly, we can no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We had dinner here before a show at the Franklin Theater. Our waiter answered all of our questions and even asked if we had plans after dinner so that everything would be timed just right. We followed his recommendations and started with the Wedge Salad and Guacamole, both of which were excellent. Our entrees included Shrimp and Grits and Beef Tenderloin. They were both superb. Unfortunately we didn't have time for dessert but we will definitely be back again and allow a little more time for the dessert.
Charming historic storefront conversion into a brick walled, high ceiling, white tablecloth restaurant. A BUSY bar downstairs, nice dining up. Be warned...the flight of stairs to the second floor is about 24 risers!
Four friends, four entrees, four delighted customers. 5 Star service. A great place to dine.
Red Pony remains one of our favorite restaurants, especially when out-of-town guests visit. It never disappoints, from the moment you walk through the door until you leave. The only downside (but still worth it) is that the noise level can be high when it is busy.
Service was good without being overbearing (thank you). Food was excellent. We shared the "snack plate". Everything on that plate was tasty-meats, cheeses, and several different pickled vegetables. I had the Branzino-excellent, fish cooked perfectly, beets tasty, the gnocchi were fine but could have left them out and never missed it. My friend has the scallops and enjoyed them very much. It gets very loud. For me, that is a negative. Otherwise a wonderful experience. Would return for another meal.
Most excellent experience, the restaurant made our special occassion more than outstanding. We had a special table and they even printed menus with congrats and the names of the special attendees. The attention to detail was above and beyond. We were treated like royalty and they were attentive ot all of our wants and wishes!!! The Red Pony went above and beyond and I HIGHLY reccommend them for any occassion.
The restaurant in Franklin TN was the perfect place to enjoy an evening with an old friend. This was our first visit there. It was excellent from the outset. We were greeted professionally. The decor and ambience were interesting but not overdone. We actually commented on the noise level - it was busy in a nice way, but we did not have to lean toward one another or shout to be heard. The perfect combination. The service was efficient and interested but not overdone. Suggestions on wine and food were accurate. The bar and wine lists were quite adequate and some of the wines were unusual and very rewarding. The meal was very good with no pitfalls in our experience. Overall it was just what we were looking for.
What started out to be a potential disaster ended up being a very enjoyable meal. We were on time, but they weren't ready for us yet. There was no room at the bar, so we had to stand by the door. When we were seated upstairs we ordered a nice wine, but it ended up that almost none of the vintages printed were in stock, everything was much newer. We ordered the wood fire grilled oysters, but when they came, they were almost cold and rubbery. We sent them back and then they came out perfect. My wife ordered the scallops and I ordered the cowboy ribeye. We cut each of our in half and had our own version of surf and turf that was excellent. The crème brulee was excellent and they had French pressed coffee that was perfect.
When we arrived, we were seated next to a table that was so close to us I felt like I was dining with the table next to us. There was no privacy so we asked to be moved to another table and we were accommodated. Our waitress, Jackie, was amazing! She was so polite and attentive. We ordered the lump crab meat appetizer and there were literally about 10 flakes of crab meat on top of french fries with a sauce. It was disappointing, essentially I felt like we paid $10 for french fries with a sprinkle of crab and the french fries weren't even tasty. The entrees were delicious. I had the scallops and my husband had the fish. We have frequented Red Pony for years, always our go to date night. I wish their appetizer choices would change more frequently. They typically have the same appetizers.
I can’t say enough good things about Red Pony. My husband and I don’t get to come eat here often enough, usually just for special occasions, but Red Pony never disappoints! The food is exceptional: the steaks and other meat dishes are always seasoned and cooked to perfection, and paired well with excellent side dishes. The wine and drink menu is extensive, so they have plenty of great options to fit your taste and your meal. And the service is always prompt and attentive, but without hovering or smothering. Will definitely be back more often in the future!
I wanted to go somewhere different for my birthday, so I chose Red Pony from the options on Open Table mainly because it was something totally new to me. I was not disappointed. Every single thing that came to the table was amazing. My group all ordered different cocktails, each of which was a smash hit. We also got a couple of appetizers (Patatas Bravas [basically cheese friess] and some southern-style gnocchi [made with grits instead of potato]), which totally slayed at our table.
Then there was the pot pie. Oh god, the rabbit pot pie. I'm a big fan of pot pie. I could eat pot pie for every meal. But this rabbit pot pie was transcendent. I truly believe I died and went to pot pie heaven. My wife, who does not like pot pie, liked this pot pie. She actually said of the scallions she ordered, "I ordered the wrong thing." Do yourself a favor, and get the pot pie.
The cowboy sushi roll and elk ragu were tasty starters. We reordered the cowboy sushi twice. I’ve had the shrimp and grits, which are amazing so I ventured out and tried the sea bass with butternut gnocchi. It was fabulous. My husband had the broccoli beer cheese soup, which was also very good. Our cocktails were also delicious.
