Since it opening in 2006, Red Pony Restaurant has impressed guests by staying true to a mission focused on cuisine and service.
Chef owned and operated, Red Pony changes its menu about six times a year with the intention of keeping ingredients the season’s freshest and the variety of dishes dynamic.
While a great deal of the menu pays homage to the Sophisticated Southern foods Chef Jason McConnell grew up on, you will also see a reflection of his travels, that drive his creativity.
It is our belief that food is something to be celebrated. We also believe that experience is a huge part of dining. Whether it be enjoying a crafted cocktail at one of our bars or enjoying dinner at the table, we want each guest to be seamlessly guided through their time at Red Pony Restaurant.

    From the moment we walked into the Red Pony the service could not have been better! Our server Elijah was outstanding, he was knowledgeable about the menu and his attention to detail was amazing. We will be back again…

    The Red Pony has been for many years, our go to restaurant when celebrating a birthday, anniversary or just a special date night. A few years ago the Red Pony sustained severe damage due to a fire in the kitchen. It was closed for approximately,two years I believe. So my husband and I were very excited to try the Red Pony once again. Sadly, it is not the same Red Pony. A few years ago it was the Nashville area’s (located in Downtown Franklin) only five star restaurant. I can’t imagine the difficulties of owning and staffing a restaurant during the employment crisis our country and the world is now facing. However, it really saddened us that the Red Pony just isn’t its’ old self. The shrimp and grits were an absolute staple in this restaurant. They were known for their shrimp and grits, which is what my husband had, and it was less than stellar. It was presented very soupy and almost like a soup. The broth was thin, and the portion size was like that of an appetizer. My husband was not happy with his selection. His Caesar salad was presented differently and was hardly enough for a rabbit to eat. I had the Chicken Grange  and while there was plenty of it, it just wasn’t very tasty. The chicken was breaded, which I didn’t really care for. We did do an order of bread! The bread was delicious for $5.00! Our waiter, Trey was nice and very hospitable. The menu just seemed to be very limited. This may be my imagination, but I remember the old menu having many more choices. We had a reservation at 7:45 on a Saturday evening. We were greeted with smiles, and were immediately taken to our table. So there were a few glimpses of greatness at the Red Pony. However, the food and even the wine selection left something to be desired. At this point, I will give the restaurant another chance, in about a year. I hope they get things back on track because as I said, it was one of our favorites. Currently, I would not recommend the restaurant to a friend.

    Promptly seated since we had a reservation. Jennifer was our server and she provided impeccable service. Appetizers, cocktails, entree and desserts were delicious. The negative was the noise level!! It was VERY LOUD. Could barely hear our table of 4. Very expensive dinner. $170.00 plus tip per couple.

    Excellent all around. Service was outstanding. I had the eggplant meatballs and as a vegetarian, it’s so great to have an excellent option for an entree that is on par with the other offerings at the restaurant.

    This is such a great place to dine. The servers are always very knowledgeable and provide valuable feedback regarding menu choices. The food is such an experience. Red Pony is a must anytime I am visiting Franklin.

    Server Heather was knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. Staff serving us was professional, yet friendly in a relaxed and comfortable environment. The Caesar salad and the corn chowder were almost meals unto themselves. Very much liked the eggplant meatballs- generous serving so was able to make a second meal the next day. Husband enjoyed his "tender" beef tenderloin. The apple parfeit was plenty for two-and delicious.

    Service was excellent as usual. The food was really off.....every dish was over salted!!!!! The shrimp and grits was poorly prepared and very salty!!!! Very disappointed in the kitchen

    Didn’t seem that busy for a Friday night but we had trouble getting the attention of our server several times. For the cost of the overall bill, I was disappointed with the level of service.

    This was my first time eating at Red Pony in several years, and I was eager to try it out again. The food did not disappoint, and from the appetizer to the main course, and even dessert, everything was delicious. It was a little noisy the night we were there, but that was due mostly to some loud guests at a nearby table. Our server was attentive and pleasant when we saw her, but she seemed to be very busy. I am eager to give it another try, perhaps for my upcoming birthday.

    We love Red Pony! One of our Franklin faves! Food is always good. Loved the little complimentary app. Service wonderful! For the first time we sat upstairs in the back room. It was just ok! Prefer the other rooms!

    We really enjoyed our anniversary dinner. Ate in the back of the 2nd floor for a quieter experience. Excellent food and they could easily handle my gluten free and mammal meat allergies. I had scallops and my husband had beef tenderloin. An excellent experience with unique flavors.

    Great place for dinner. The specialty drinks were outstanding. The chef knows how to mix flavors for a mouthwatering dish. Lamb chop appetizer was amazing. A little pricy but worth it. Scallops were also outstanding. Our waiter was great.

    So glad to visit Red Pony back at the original location. It's always a favorite. Excellent service. My selection, the beef tenderloin, was fantastic. I will be returning to have this again..and again. Other members of my party were also happy with their dining experience.

    Red Pony is always excellent! Our server, Rocky, was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious (shrimp & grits for me, beef tenderloin for hubs), and the wine pairing went well with both. Most of all, I just love the consistency of Red Pony — the food and service are always fantastic; I never have to worry about having a subpar experience!

    We came to Reg Pony on a recommendation from my friend who used to live in Franklin. Jay was our server, and he was amazing! He gave us excellent drink and food recommendations, and every thing was perfection! We had the lamb chops for an appetizer, which were perfectly prepared, and the chimichurri sauce on them was the best we ever had. We also ordered a shrimp and grits, and a fillet topped with lump crab meat for our entrées. The shrimp and grits meal is absolutely delightful with all the flavors and textures. The steak was cooked a perfectly medium rare, and the pairing with the corn and pommes anna made it exceptional. Overall we had an incredible dining and service experience! Would highly recommend!

    Felt like I got taken advantage of. Bruschetta for $25. 5 pieces of warm focaccia, singed black on the edges. Topped with a small crab mixture. Ribeye…1/2” thick $56.00. My Redfish was not blackened but “dark black” sitting in a pool of way to much sauce. My waiter Scott was very personable and efficient but was more interested in increasing my check average than anything else. Felt like the food was just ok but overpriced. $25.00 for cake service. Come on. My bill was $400 and we’d had only 2 alcoholic beverages. I live in the Franklin area and after leaving felt like this restaurant was in a tourist area and it had to price its way as a downtown Nashville restaurant. Too many other great restaurants in the area. By the way. the decor seemed outdated to me. Thanks . Do not recommend.

    AMAZING every time we dine at Red Pony. This time we had the Redfish and the Salmon. Our friend had the Prime Rib. Wow! All were incredibly delicious, filling and dreamy. The service (Elijah) was, as always, attentive and friendly. They change their menu 6-8 times a year. Can’t wait to go back to see what new dishes they come up with.

    I’m in the industry and while sometimes harsh, feedback is how we get better. So…. Wife and I visited for the first time last night. Server was attentive and immediately greeted us with the usual welcome. We ordered drinks, Fire on the Mt, and the Black Cat. Both great. Ordered bread service and the Tartare. Bread was decent albeit a bit chewy on the corn muffins. Tartare was a train wreck. Not cold, was not uniform in size (chunks/minced) and lacked flavor. Packed a bit too tight as well. Wontons were stale and dumbed the dish down. Tell the Garm guy to stop overdressing the arugula. She had a bowl of Chowder and again, lacked seasoning. Also wasn’t very hot. I had the redfish. Garnish was good and the fish was cooked correctly, but lacked seasoning. My biggest problem here is the same as I have with his other venue as well as most places here in the Nashville area, value and consistency. Chef is talented but needs to be laser focused on consistency. With consistency comes quality, and that will show value to the guests. Anyway, just my thoughts on my experience. Again, I’m a chef in Nashville and only shared my opinion so that you can continue to get better.
