Since it opening in 2006, Red Pony Restaurant has impressed guests by staying true to a mission focused on cuisine and service.
Chef owned and operated, Red Pony changes its menu about six times a year with the intention of keeping ingredients the season’s freshest and the variety of dishes dynamic.
While a great deal of the menu pays homage to the Sophisticated Southern foods Chef Jason McConnell grew up on, you will also see a reflection of his travels, that drive his creativity.
It is our belief that food is something to be celebrated. We also believe that experience is a huge part of dining. Whether it be enjoying a crafted cocktail at one of our bars or enjoying dinner at the table, we want each guest to be seamlessly guided through their time at Red Pony Restaurant.
We love our community and we love food.

The Red Pony offers an extensive wine selection and cocktails that accompany an array of mouth watering starters, salads & 5 star entrees! One of our favorite places in Franklin!

The Goat Cheese appetizer was amazing, as was the Grilled Pork Chop. The Sea Bass was saved to the tomato saffron butter, as the fish was just okay. It was loud, and service was slow. I also requested that a shade be lowered because of a light from outside shining brightly in my face, and it was poorly handled by the server. Everyone at the table near the window ended up staring at me, making jokes about blocking the light, and ultimately the shade was never lowered. We didn’t stick around for dessert or after dinner drinks because of the light still being an issue. Overall food was good, but it’s a maybe on us returning.

We thankfully were seated upstairs away from the noisy bar area. The drinks we had were both delicious, as was the gnocchi appetizer. My scallops were seared to perfection and melted in my mouth. My wife’s shrimp and grits was also fabulous. The desserts were also excellent and large: root beer cake and deconstructed berry cheesecake. Highly recommended.

1st time going to Red Pony and we had a blast (party of 4). Server was fun and attentive. Apps we had goat cheese and zucchini fries, both excellent. Both wives had the scallops and raved about them. I had shrimp and grits and was just ok. My buddy had steak and was really good. Cocktail/wine/beer selection was really good as well. I am glad that we sat upstairs, it seemed that the bar area downstairs was super loud. Not necessarily a bad thing, just folks having a good time but it was nice to have things taken down just a notch to be able to have conversations. We'll definitely be back, only for us, I'll make sure and request upstairs table. The bar area would be an awesome place for just happy hour or cocktails.

Would give ambiance 5 stars but the 2 top tables are soooo close together that you can’t help but be in your neighbors business. I don’t personally like that when I’m out to eat.

We've been to the Red Pony many times. This time we sat in the new enclosed patio. It got rather warm. They need to install LED bulbs to cool the place and certainly need to install ceiling fans. The chairs are very uncomfortably. They are an industrial look, which is fine, but the chairs are rather narrow and hurt your hips, unless you are a very tiny person. I had the sea bass, it was quite good and the veggies were good. I also had the squash blossoms - they were delicious! My husband had the scallops and he was disappointed, they were not cooked all the way through. We cook them at home so we know how they should be, but they were a bit underdone. We also had a gift card. We wanted to include the tip on the gift card, but we were told that we cannot do that. So we have a small amount left on the card. I hoped to use the entire amount, but not able to do so. The Red Pony one of our favorite restaurants, however, we were a bit disappointed this time. Hope this helps to help make a few improvements.

This was a nice place to go for an occasional night out. We ate here before going to a show at the Franklin Theater, which allowed us to eat and then to wander downtown before our show started.

Had one of the best meals I've had in some time at Red Pony on 6/28/19. Zucchini fries for appetizer. We split an entree of sea bass and also ordered sweet potatoes as well as roasted vegetables. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Dessert was creme brulee. Our server was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend Red Pony!

The space was very nice. But food and service not so great. My guest and I ordered two different cocktails, but our waitress brought us two of the same drinks. I ordered a second drink, and it was also the wrong drink that was delivered to the table. The beet salad lacked any real taste. The sea bass was good. The shrimp in the shrimp and grits had a very unusual taste, almost as if they were old or were stale, so we did not eat any of them. Our waitress disappeared and it was difficult to track her down. We decided not to stay for dessert or for an after dinner drink, because our experiences had been sub par.

This restaurant hits on all cylinders every time I go there. I hold Commanders Palace in New Orleans as the gold standard of service and food. Red Pony lives up to that standard! We had a Crying Tiger Elk salad that was outstanding; something I had never had before. We had an heirloom gazpacho that was piquant and the main courses sea bass and seafood stew were flawlessly prepared.

This is one of the few restaurants in the Nashville area where I feel obligated to tip the kitchen staff

We had friends join us for a date night. We love the three restaurants in this group! I had the shrimp and grits but they lacked grits, so we ordered a side of grits mid way through the meal. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. My husband had the trout. Dish they looked amazing and it must have been because it was all eaten!

If you have never been here, do yourself a favor... Go immediately. Order the shrimp & grits. You'll wonder why it has taken you so long to truly live. They are just that good. Here's a tip... make sure you get some bread to soak up every last drop of heaven from your bowl because licking it in public is just bad manners. Enjoy!

Finally had the shrimp and grits—SO very tasty, it will be hard to try different dishes in the future. I love the extra effort in the taste department, on everything I’ve had here ( our 3rd visit.) Thank you to the chef and kitchen staff— it’s what brings us back repeatedly! I like that we can make reservations, too.

Sat in the back porch area which was very hot, puzzling with plenty of tables open upstairs and downstairs?? Celebrating a birthday with my out of town brother and his wife (going to my favorite restaurant). Food and service was great as usual but uncomfortably warm the entire meal.

The food looked absolutely beautiful, however the taste or lack thereof was a little bit disappointing. I did not see anything about this restaurant being low sodium or not, but mostly everything was very bland. The lemon butter and potatoes were seasoned very well. The gnocchi they served at the beginning of dinner for first timers was absolutely fantastic and if it was any indicator for the rest of the meal to come, this would be an overall 5 star review all the way around; unfortunately that was the case and we were left extremely disappointed and was ready to get out of there.

From booking to finishing our diner the Red Pony didn't disappoint. This was our first time to visit this nice little restaurant in Franklin. The appetizers were great, I highly recommend the lamb chops. Main dishes we had were the sea bass and cowboy ribeye which both were very good. The finishing dish was a chocolate pudding with meringue and a cookie which could have been better. I will definitely recommend this place. Thanks for helping our anniversary meal be a success.

Quaint restaurant we enjoyed our meal at while visiting Franklin! Service was exceptional! When your server returns to your table to apologize for your drink being late because he had to go across the street and get the ingredients for your requested Virgin Bloody Mary, that says a lot about the restaurants mission to keep their customers happy! Will definitely go again when traveling to Franklin.

We had a wonderful time at Red Pony. It was a business dinner and the staff was attentive, but also left us alone to talk. The beef tenderloin was cooked exactly as asked and delicious (rare!). The Sea Bass was flaky, soft and buttery. Everything was fresh and hot from the kitchen! Thank you again!
