Crispy Shredded Spicy Beef
Excellent food and very gracious host. Room was a little crowded with tables
The resturant was very busy but we didnt wait too long, the food was excellent though not very hot in heat, so.e of the staff were slightly abrupt bit didn't spoil the evening,
Always good food , nice surroundings &seamless service.
We had a great meal at Red Peony. They were very accommodating and worked with us to increase our party size. The table was ready and we were not on top of other tables. Food was spaced our well, we ordered many courses and did not feel rushed. The food was delicious, each dish had unique flavors. This is not your typical chinese...so much better. It has been a great place to take visitors since they can accommodate large parties with great food.
Delicious dumplings, sweet and sour fish and asparagus and crab soup. I think our waiter was new and not very attentive
Food, drinks and service was excellent!
Lovely selection on the menu. Soup dumplings were good, but I’ve had better. Loved the crystal shrimp dumplings, bacon wrapped shrimp roll & crispy spicy shredded beef 👌🏻
Seated on time. Sat for 20 minutes in a room full of other tables where not a single table had received any service. We left.
Incredible meal at a good price.
Great food! We ate outside which was nice…………………..
Food was at best mediocre and not worth the cost really. Dinner for our party of four took over two hours to finish as the service was horrible. Asked for more water and he rolled his eyes. Each time he set anything on the table he slammed it on the table. When we asked for anything he rolled his eyes or simply said “yeah yeah yeah” in the rudest manner. Would not recommend.
My family came from out of town and they can be less adventurous with food so I was a little hesitant to bring them to a restaurant that would have less Americanized Chinese food. I They were hesitant to try the Peking duck but they loved it. My cousin is now obsessed with your chicken soup dumplings. She’ll definitely be coming back to your restaurant with or without me. :) My aunt raved about the green beans and the shrimp fried rice. We ordered just the right amount of food to share and I’m very glad they were so happy with the food.
Peking duck very nice. Hot sake nice and hot. Waiter forgot to serve dumpling appetizer and tried to bring it out after entree. We said no thank you. Overall very good, polite service, nice atmosphere and tasty food.
We visited New York for one month, and dined at red peony three times! We were pleased when they gave us the large round table in the back for our family dim sum brunch. The soup dumplings were tasty (although a little too large to enjoy in one bite). Other dim sum offerings were delicious, too. The dry fried string beans were the best - we ordered them on all three visits. Service was pretty good, though it was understandably difficult to get help during the peak lunch hour. This will be a regular spot for our future visits.
Food was great
Champagne was not cold enough and questionable if it was actually Moet & Chandon
Otherwise happy and will return
The service was one of the worst ever experiences. Food was simply okay. Server was uninterested in our table. Apps came out after meal. No drink order. No dessert. Overall a bad experience.
Great food and personal service
Many menu choices, everything very good. Noledgeable staff.
Excellent food and ambience. Best Peking Duck and crab soup dumplings!
Delicious food. Expansive menu. Excellent outdoor dining area, and most of the staff wore masks.
The food was amazing (as always)!! The staff is wonderful and we always have a wonderful meal!
Great soup dumplings, and Peking duck. I can't wait to go back!
We sat outside which was very nice. A bit close to suvs continually pulling up and parking next door but still nice. Food was great. We had the lunch specials which give a lot of food at good price. Sesame chicken. General tso chicken. Each came with great wonton soup and rice. Servers very nice. Worth a visit if you want good chinese in midtown. 2 blocks from MOMA museum
Fabulous soup dumplings!
Dungeness crab was remarkable and the orange beef was very tender and extremely tasty.
The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was nice. The host was friendly and sat us immediately. Our server however was curt, brash, and almost rude through the entire meal. It seemed as if she was a manager or owner as she was giving direction to other employees the whole time also. It could be a cultural difference but was off-putting none the less. We did not feel welcomed at all, and that is very important when you choose a place to spend your hard earned money in an expensive city with many other options.
Horrible service and mediocre food
Great food ,large portions, good service and fair pricing. We had excellent Peking duck which I was hesitant to order. Great appetizers too. Definitely worth a return visit.
Good! Place is clean quiet food is great
Decent food though many dishes are non authentic. Server quality and attitude were very poor. Extremely poorly trained servers who were chatting with each other very loudly and had minimal attentiveness. Very poor dining experience
Food was served quickly and was absolutely delicious. Extensive menu so it took a while to choose. The bartender was excellent, drinks were very tasty.
Red Peony what is the best Chinese food that I’ve ever eaten. They have a large elaborate menu and everything that we eat was delicious. The staff was attentive and the food was quick. We will go there again.
Lots of mosquitoes, in spite of asking for bug spray no action was taken, service was bad too!
Hands down my favorite place for dim sum and Chinese food in the city. Ate there last night and contemplating ordering takeout for dinner tonight.
Went to Red Peony for their dim sum menu. While their dumplings were good, the fried items tended to be greasy, and the oil soaked scallion pancake bordered on the inedible. Such missteps could have been forgiven if the service had not deteriorated from inattentive wait staff to the downright surly hostess. With so many options for good dim sum in NYC, I will not be going back to Red Peony anytime soon.
Was hoping to still receive my points for this reservation ($54 bill for lunch). Beers were $7 and $8 (a bit pricy) but lunch specials were a good deal. Tasty and friendly staff. Entrees came out while we were still eating our soup.
Really bad service
I got a table outside, which was OK because there’s a nice breeze. The roast duck dumplings were absolutely delicious. A chicken wing wasn’t extremely generous portion.I thought it was great value for the money. I will definitely come back here again.
The food was fine, we got an assortment of dumplings and noodle dishes the roasted duck dumplings were the best. Service was slow even though there was only one other man in the restaurant. When I asked about happy hour deals they said they didn’t have any unlike how open table advertised.
The happy hour drinks and appetizers were amazing and delicious.
