Very disappointing experience... food sub par to what I’m used to at Red O.
Food was amazing and it was beautiful inside. Perfect for a girls night! Very loud inside with music so not good for date night.
Had a booking for 4 on a Saturday night and enjoyed the experience. Food was great, especially the margaritas, good ambiance with live music in the front part and disco music in the back. Would say the music was a bit loud, hard to talk over. The restaurant was busy and as a result think our server was overwhelmed with tables and only checked on us once.
Would highly recommend and will return.
Place was popping for a Tuesday. Ambiance is great, food is good. Service was excellent. No flan though!
Four of us went for Sunday brunch. We were seated immediately. Service was great. Food was delicious with lots of options. Live music was playing which made a fun atmosphere.
I visited Red O in Newport for my birthday brunch...I am not easily pleased but OMG they were amazing...the staff was friendly, helpful and GENUINE...the food was amazing and the drinks were perfect. We are already planning to go back for another brunch. The drive and the price was worth it to us.
Food was disappointingly mediocre for a restaurant of this repute. Maybe an off night
We planned a special trip to Newport Beach to try Red O. It was worth the trip. We had reservations for 5:30 but arrived much earlier than expected. The hostess said that happy hour was in progress if we cared to wait in the bar area. We took her suggestion and started our dining with a margarita and shared appetizers of chiliquilles, duck taquitos and quest fundido.
Rack appetizer was delicious, the chips and salsa fabulous and the margarita (we ordered the house margarita) perfect. The service was pleasant and efficient. The server gave us the dinner menus and asked if we wanted to move to our table or remain in the bar. We stayed. The bar is comfortable, well decorated and the noise level allowed conversation , even when the bar area filled up.
Dinner included a perfectly cooked halibut, a trio of enchiladas (short ribs, chicken, and a lobster/ shrimp) in a red enchilada, green chili and tomatillo sauce. One of us chose just the short rib enchilada. Red O’s scored a perfect 10 on all of the dishes. Dessert was the churros with both chocolate and Carmel sauce. Fresh and warm directly from the kitchen, they were a perfect ending to a perfect meal!
Great service, great ambience and great food means the highest praise for Red O.
Very disappointed that the Sunday Lunch is Buffet only Not what we where expecting but it was tasty but not what we where actually looking for
Always excellent food and fantastic staff! Never disappointed at Red O.
Great ambiance and food! Customer service was good!
Disappointed because I did not receive my points using open table. I called the restaurant and they were not taking responsibility to apply my points.
The noise was almost unbearable. We could hardly hear each other...
Next time we'll come during the week, not on the weekend.
Nothing outstanding here. Good Happy Hour but with all of the talk of Rick Bayless we were a little underwhelmed.
Great food and service. Servers very polite and attentive.
Hostess wasn’t the nicest
Reservations for New Year’s Eve was made over a month in advance. Our reservation time was at 9:15... we arrived five minutes early... where we were told by hostess that they were running behind. We waited for over one hour and all we were told was a pathetic “sorry” suffice to say we left the restaurant at 10:20pm still not seated.
Went across the street to Fig & Olive and spent New Year’s Eve.
I will never visit Red O again.
They gave our table after 2 hours wait and adjacent to kitchen stating that it was the best they could do with our reservation! Very bad management..., some food on the menu was finished by 11:00 pm when we sat down!
Do not recommend at all!
Red O is amazing. The service is always fantastic and the food is beyond great.
I really like dining here, so much that I booked my group dinner for NYE, unfortunately the service was really bad and the food was cold when they finally did serve it. Had to ask multiple times for water silverware and chips and salsa. Usually would give it 5 stars but bad experience last time.
Once in the restaurant and through the hostesses, the service was impeccable! The food has shifted here from our initial visits and while we miss the adventuresome items that were on the prior menu (guacamole taster of 4 distinct varieties), the offering is solid and delicious. Portions are generous. We visited early on NYE and the service team who supported us were all phenomenal!
The food was excellent celebrated our anniversary when do it again
This was great. Don't know if it's the revised Red Onion or not.
The restaurant is really stunning and the food was delicious.
Our waitress was really good, too.
I took my sister there for lunch for her 50th birthday. Within 5 minutes of being seated, we were asked 3 times if we were ready to order our main course even though we already ordered drinks and appetizers and asked our server for some time. We felt very rushed, as if they wanted us to leave, even though we barely arrived there and they weren’t that busy. Eventually, but promptly, we ordered our main course. They brought the wrong order out to me, so they had to take it back and bring me the correct one. My course came with a side of tortillas, but no tortillas were in the covered bowl that they were supposed to come in. It also took a long time for them to clear our plates once we were done...which only prompted me to stack the plates myself. I found it quite odd that in the beginning, they were constantly at our table wanting to take our order, but then once we ordered, they were very inattentive. I’ve been to this restaurant before and enjoyed the experience, but this time was not good. We would have stayed longer and spent more money, but since we were seated next to the server’s station and first being rushed, THEN being ignored, we left. I don’t think we’ll be going back.
Good ambiance. Great location. Food was mediocre. Very expensive- food not really worth the price. I’m not sure we will go back.
The food here has always been great. Wonderful service and loved the churros for our anniversary!
One word Great
It was overrated
Love this place always so friendly great food had a great time with family there. Will return for sure
was hoping for the prix fix menu, was too early (offered in jan)!
The ambiance, food, and service were exceptional. My husband & I truly enjoyed our first experience there.
Food is outstanding. Very fresh tasting with unique flavors. Patio dining in the winter was very comfortable. The fireplace was lit and the decor was beautifully decorated for Christmas.
My food on Christmas Eve wasn’t good....I don’t think I will be coming back for awhile
Great Christmas Eve!! Max our server made our evening. Food was outstanding. Thank you Red O!
Amazing food, great service ... definitely will start tradition of coming here for
Had a date night with my significant other and another couple. Love the food and atmosphere. Had superb service all the other times I’ve been there but this time was not so great! Had a reservation and they seated us right on time, after being seated, a waiter came over and told us that our waiter was really backed up on tables and that he was going to take our drink order to help him out. After our drinks arrived we sat there for 20 mire minutes, no one ever checked on us then I noticed that there were many empty tables, how were they backed up? It wasn’t that busy, never even saw our waiter. Finally, I got up and asked what was going on and they said someone would be with us and no one ever showed up. Since there were many open tables, we asked if we could move tables as we were the first table right at the entrance and it was drafty (cold) so they moved us. We moved into the patio room right by the fireplace and it was really nice. A new waitress came over and helped us immediately and she was spot on! I forgot her name but thank you to her. Our food was delicious and her service was excellent!
Well that was it that was my last time ever eating there again too many bad experiences. Service-level is just atrocious. Really that's it and if I were an owner of this place or any restaurant like this where my food is decent the place looks gorgeous but I have fools working for me who make my place look bad and me look bad I would be really upset. first they tried to squeeze our party of six onto a four-top it was so uncomfortable I insisted we move. It took awhile for her to even come back to take our drink order and greet us that we ordered appetizers at the same time and the appetizers came not quickly but first before I even had my drink. We ordered a cheese type dip called fundido and it should have came with tortillas for our group to each get one to try this it came with one tortilla rather than say for 5 that by the time they brought more tortillas the cheese was cold and hard that they had to make us a new one. I could go on but the experience was so bad and it's not my first time here having this experience that I just will not come back. What a shame because the place does look beautiful. The location in Los Angeles on Melrose recently closed and I see this one following in its footsteps.
Great food and service.
Great place for Mexican food and it has a nice atmosphere. Great place for a date or special occasion.
chicken as a little tough, but the steak was great!
Love it so wonderful start to finish the brunch is endless drinks and the food cannot be beat!
