Good. Food was good. After we had finished eating we felt rushed as all the chips and salsas were immediately taken away while we were still talking. But as soon as the bill was paid the table was cleared. We did not say we were not finished but, it felt as if we had paid and were being rushed out. While we continued to sit there a while that was the last time anyone came to ask us if we needed anything. I debated heavily whether to go to Red O or Javier’s with my out of town guest. While the food and service was good while we were paying, I would probably choose Javier’s next time as I live in the neighborhood and am quite familiar with both.
Lovely place. Very relaxing. One of people dinning with me said the food at Red O is better than Javiar's.
Fantastic service and very good food in a nice, classy atmosphere. Our favorite high-end Mexican restaurant in San Diego.
I love this restaurant... It is my favorite restaurant in San Diego!
Food is very good however the portions are very small and the dishes are very expensive but quality.
The upscale setting is nice as is the ambience. The food was ...ordinary. We frequently eat Mexican food as well as making it at home, so this is not a reviewer with no experience. I had the lobster and shrimp enchiladas while my partner had carnitas tacos. Everything was okay, but for the price, I was expecting to be wowed.
Put some heaters outside so that people don't need to stand when they arrive at 4.45pm just before dinner
i was expecting better food quality, drinks are too expensive and poor on flavor and quality. dont see my self like a place that can't wait to come back!!!
Need to get better ( more friendly girls at welcome desk)
Beside that other people are very nice 🤗
Great Experience! Our Waiter was amazing. We got the Surf and Turf Tablita which was one of the best meals we have had in a really long time!
Beautiful restaurant with great service. Food was good but not outstanding. It’s pricy and parking was expensive.
Bday and promotion
We went to dinner for my husband's birthday. Our friends joined us and we were all extremely happy with the whole experience. It was our first time there and we will definitely be going again soon! The waitress was super knowledgeable about the food and how it was prepared. She suggested the perfect wines that would go with our dinners. She was very attentive and was very nice and professional. They even brought my husband a delicious dessert on a big platter with "Happy Birthday" written in fudge sauce. It was beautiful as well as tasty. All in all we couldn't have been happier!
Not good value on food. Basically paid $60 for rice and beans
We didn’t understand why after getting parking validated by our server we still had to pay over $8 to park?!?
The food and service was good, a little pricey for Mexican food .
Went early on a Saturday for 11 am brunch. Place was not packed at all, but not to worry, since I know they always have regular customers after work and for dinner. The service, kitchen and waitstaff we had were absolutely incredible, and sealed the deal on whether I'd come back again. Brunch menu items are fairly priced and AYCD brunch cocktails for $20 is a good deal. No judgement on whether the food they serve is authentic Mexican cuisine, etc. Lobster eggs Benedict is clearly not, but the food tastes fine and will likely appeal to most palates, which is enough to keep me coming back for more.
Beautiful ambiance as always. Great food & service.
Great ambience but service and food can be a bit inconsistent at times.A great date place the bar/lounge area is great.
Food was PHENOMENAL!!
Food was good, and service was great. Definitely a little pricey for the small portions but all in all it wasn't bad.
The food is phenomenal! Hands down one of my fave restaurants!
I had great food, with great service, good beer in a great restaurant. Somewhat pricey but overall worth it....a great place to take friends especially ones who are visiting San Diego.
Delicious food in a beautiful surrounding. Excellent in every respect.
Great food and service. If you are looking for Mexican food with a flair and a stunning room, this is it. The design and atmosphere are extremely well done.
New Years Eve
Food: Absolutely amazing. Chips and salsa were top-notch. House cocktails were pricey, but delicious. Appetizers were great. Ordered oysters so my son could try them and they forgot them. After 45 minutes, and receiving entrees, I reminded our server and they were on the table in about 5 min. Would have been better if they weren’t forgotten because my son wanted to try them and you have to be really hungry to appreciate them. I will say that they tasted fresh and delicious, if late. My son loved the duck taquitos. My daughter didn’t care about anything after eating chips and salsa for 45 min., but the kids meals were reasonably priced. Lobster and Shrimp Relleno was amazing. The food was really the main draw and on a night where the pressure isn’t as high (New Years Eve), I think the service would be as expected.
AMBIANCE: Well appointed restaurant that seems very romantic. If this is your thing, ask for one of the booths with plush, deep seating. Moroccan lanterns and mood lighting will add to the romantic aspect. I’m not super surprised they parked us in the back of the outdoor patio which had been covered with a tent. Broiling space heaters brought in. No need for much clothing. Behind us were 2 giant TVs that the kids stared at a lot. Again, we get it. Kids...New Year’s Eve...they probably assumed we would get two kids meals and some appetizers and sat us away from all of the fun adults doing fun adulting on NYE. Needless to say, they were busy and our server got distracted. Other than that, it’s an incredibly beautiful place. Score extra points and take your date to the secret little spot adjacent to the entrance. It looks like a normal office park, but is really a secluded spot with lots of waterfalls, night lighting, walking paths and seating. Not a single person there, but peaceful and romantic.
We joined for the New Year Celebration and it was nice! Great for every occasion, but really gorgeous in the evening.
We visited Red O for New Years' Eve and while the quality of the food was good, the price was too high. Also, the cocktails were only fair and again, overpriced for the quality. On the bright side, our server was friendly and attentive. We were seated on the patio and initially were concerned it would be too chilly, but it actually became so warm we had to ask to move to a cooler spot. Unfortunately our food arrived right before we were moved, so it wasn't ideal moving plates of hot food, beverages, etc. Overall I wish we would have chosen a different restaurant for the holiday dinner.
This was one of the best dining experiences we had in a very long time, the food, the service, the atmosphere all of it was great
Always outstanding service. The food is excellent. The servers do a great job at food description and recommendations!! The butter cake is a MUST! Valet team is very nice and friendly as well.
Rick Bayless has another gem in this restaurant. Wonderful food and terrific service. Can't wait to return! Keep up the good work.
Sadly the service was not at the level it should have been for the prices and for the beautiful restaurant space. It is a shame because other Rick Bayless restaurants I have been to are good but clearly something is missing here
Wedding Anniversary- 39th
Server enabled me to order a signature lamb mole dish that was not on the lunch menu. It was excellent and I appreciate the service provided.
A wonderful evening!
Food was great, service was not. I had to seek out a waitress to order good and more drinks. It didn't look too busy for a Thursday night
4 of us went; we had a variety of appetizers and main courses, all of which were very good. They have a good selection of wines. Service was good. All in all a fun place to dine.
Waiter was unable to suggest a wine from Mexico. He asked another waiter, who was also unable to make a suggestion. We were served three cold cups of coffee and after 10 minutes still had not been given the promised hot coffee; two of us canceled ours. We were charged an extra $80 on one of our credit cards. Our waiter had no idea why. Based on poor service we won’t return.
I was pleased with the quality of the food and the presentation. It did bring back a memory of Kiva bar and Grill which was near the Hyatt.
Everybody liked their food. Nicely presented. Tasted excellent. Waiter was professional. Staff worked hard to please the consumer. If you are looking for an unusual Mexican food experience with a high end ambiance (and price), Red O is the place to go.
