Great service had a good time
DO NOT COME HERE!! Came for a quick lunch while in Santa Monica with my partner. Staff are incredibly rude, I mean incredibly unprofessional and rude. We waited 45 minutes for our drinks. Our server forgot water and had to be reminded 4 times before we got it. Our food was terrible. Only upside was they comped the check.
Go to Javier’s instead:)
As a party of three we were sat at a six top next to a very loud full six top, it was a little off putting since the establishment was mostly empty at 7pm on a Monday. The drinks were very good but the food was nothing crazy. Decently priced for Santa Monica.
We love the Rick Bayless restaurants and always eat at them in Chicago. Good too in Santa Monica!
The food was good. Good portion. The experience was different from my last. Last visit the place were up beat and our server was very friendly and more accommodating. The food presentation is acceptable, not too much on the plate and not messy.
Great service and food
Love this place but I wish it'll offer more seafood choices
Great service and food was excellent!!
Portions were so satisfying!
We enjoyed our time at Red O but we did wait a while before someone came up to us. I’m the meantime there was someone who brought us water and we really appreciated that. I would say the food was good but the drinks were better! I enjoyed the atmosphere and had a great time but the food did feel overpriced for what it was.
The service was terrible. To begin, the waitress tried to rush our dinner order before our drink order was taken. We ordered drinks, and didn’t see her for at least 15 minutes. The busboy brought water, she returned, still no drinks. I ordered appetizers and told her we’d like the drinks and apps first, she agreed, so we gave her our dinner order. 20 minutes more, we flag her down for the beer! 20 more minutes more I ask for the 3rd time about apps - she never placed the order. Dinner rolls out before apps, and then the apps which we stack on top of plates because there’s no room on the table. She ignores us for the remainder of the night.
Food was disappointing, especially when they raised prices. Menu options were reduced. Quality was that if a cook, not chef. I loved their WeHo location, and hosted a birthday party at the Sm location several years ago - but everything has gone downhill in recent years.
Hello, Thank you for joining us on Friday. I am sorry your experience did not meet your expectations. I would love to get more details so I can make improvements. I hope we can turn this around and have you come back. My phone number is 562-508-0884. Have a great weekend! Robert Kroon General Manager
Service was INCREDIBLE… Food was DELICIOUS…I will be back with friends since food was great and music was to the beat 😃
Food was fine- Mahi Mahi was cooked nicely, rice was fine, the bell peppers and onions were a bit salty... drinks were good- got the Cadillac pitcher and did shots of tequila primavera. Bday cake from the venue was a nice touch but I am lactose intolerant and do not like 3 leches cake... it was still a nice touch but wish they would've asked so that I could enjoy... my friends enjoyed it though, so it did not go to waste :)
We found the food to be excellent, accompanied with great service to begin with.
However, don’t get stung by the Tequila trolley!
Whilst we didn’t expect a “free shot” we certainly weren’t expecting the $46 recommendation that was poured, with no warning it was $46 a shot, or shown a price list. Really sad end to what was a lovely meal. I’m not a complainer, I hate complaining and normally we’d just walk away with a lesson learned, but it made up nearly 30% of our bill! After a quick chat with a manager she kindly reduced the cost of the shot by half.
The food was great, just a shame the end was a let down.
I have always enjoyed happy hour at this restaurant and tried it for dinner. Upon walking into the restaurant I was not pleased with the fact that there were lots of large parties and the restaurant was pretty open to the cool outside air so it was pretty cold inside. The menu looked good and we ordered food and were pleased that the salsa was nice and spicy and tasty. However I was disappointed with the enchiladas which were bland and covered in a sauce that was slightly sweet. The other food we had was similarly lacking in flavor.. Overall the food was so so. Will stick to Mercado where the food is much better.
The food and drinks were delicious but the service was slow and the waiter was not very attentive. Overall, okay but not sure if I would return.
The service was great and the drinks and appetizers were great. My cousins had the chicken quesadilla and the lobster enchiladas, which they both loved. I had the shrimp fajitas and it didn’t seem like there was much flavor and I only was given three tortillas.
Great service and food.
Good food and service. Way tooooo loud.
Restaurant location is exceptional.
However, the food, waitstaff and noise level weren’t so great.
1. The restaurant blasts club music to an extent that the people dining together need to lean and shout to hear one another.
2. The waitstaff isn’t super helpful.
3. The food was all super spicy, even the kids guacamole had chunks of jalapeño.
I won’t return.
Great experience! Can’t wait to go back for food and drinks .
Good for birthday. Very loud though. Service is good.
I had an awesome dining experience with my family. The food and service were top notch and delicious.
Best dining experience I’ve had in awhile. Everything was excellent. Waitress Nicki was awesome attentive and very helpful.
I was very disappointed. I thought choosing a restaurant connected with Rick Bayless would be a great choice for the last night of our vacation. It was below average chain mexican food at best. The menu had nothing unique. The drinks and Churros were good. The rest of our meal was nothing special. The service also lacked. We had to track our server down. She had too many tables and could not handle it. I do not recommend this restaurant.
Amazing experience. I will go back for sure.
Incredible experience here. I’ve been to the one in Newport Beach countless of times and thought I’d give this one a try as well. I was very pleased with all aspects of the restaurant from food and drinks to the ambiance and location. Don’t come here if you want a quiet dinner! Loud and fun! Highly recommend literally any cocktail!
The food was great but our waitress seemed uninterested in servicing our table when needed. We given items we did not order2 but we took it in stride. The food saved the evening for a party of 8.
Excellent server…great food…noise level can be high. Interesting people watching as they walk down from the pier.
Great place to go with friends and grab something to eat and drink
Food was great. Service was excellent
Appetizers were outstanding so we were super disappointed when our meals came out almost flavorless. I guess you need to know what to order. Drinks were great!
The best Mexican food ever! Valerie was exceptionally wonderful. Her customer service was fantastic! I will be back often.
This restaurant surpassed my expectations the food was great and the service was phenomenal! I will definitely return for another great experience!!
It was a nice experience
It was the best Mexican food I have had in a long time. Maybe it’s the best in the city.
I love margaritas and Mexican food. I visited Santa Monica Red O looked busy all of the time. I assumed it would be fun and delicious. Two of us tried 4 different margaritas on the menu. All of which sounded delicious on paper. When it came to tasting them, they were all on the limey side. Like instant heartburn kind of limey. We also tried the bean dip, chopped salad, and chips and salsa. All we’re just ok. Nothing to write home about. I’d give it a meh at best
Great food, service, and atmosphere! Highly recommend.
We stayed in Santa Monica for a week and this place was our last stop before heading home. I’m nearly speechless as to how good everything was! 10/10 would definitely recommend! Can’t wait for our next opportunity to visit
