Red Light Kitchen
There is really no place quite like the Red Light with its eclectic and eccentric decor, designed by our founder, the legendary Lexington restauranteur, Lucie Slone Meyers.
We love everything about Red Light. We brought friends who had never been to Red Light. They really enjoyed the food, ambience and staff.
Don’t judge a book by its cover. From the street, I had no idea what to expect. I thought I was going to be disappointed. Even upon entering, the eclectic decor and plastic table covers threw me. We started with a cocktail and we loved what we ordered. Then the scallop app was fabulous. My husband ordered veal liver and onions and it was very tender and full of flavor. My Chicken la Lucia was so delicious I couldn’t stop eating it even though I was stuffed. We ordered dessert too - the hazelnut torte- and really enjoyed it. We recommended it to friends who went and lived it. And plan to go back tonight. So two dinners in a six day vacation.
Great food, wonderful service and live smooth jazz. Heaven.
Only had appetizers, but they were great. Excellent friendly staff. Atmosphere is extremely casual/funky.
We always enjoy Red Light, most had the fried chicken, which is the best, I had the Halibut special which I really liked. We started with the Onion Stack appetizer that is a winner and finished with the Chocolate Torte that's unlike other tortes as it is lighter but still good. We love this place!
Pork chop was perfect-not over cooked or dry.
Fabulous food and service in an eclectic venue!! Definitely one of my favorite places!!
The food was great and our server, Fred, was outstanding. Friendly and attentive. We love the funky decor.
Took out of town guests to experience the ambiance and good food of Red Light. It was very good with excellent service. The chef came by a couple of times to check on us. Pork tenderloin was a bit undercooked by was taken to the kitchen and returned spot on. A pleasant dining experience where you can carry on a conversation.
Red Light is extremely inviting. Staff is gracious and kind and attentive. Food is wonderful. Only suggestion is to get car lot across the street to allow afterhours parking. :)
Fred was our server and was exceptional. Knew the menu. Was prompt and attentive. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection.
We loved it! Great appetizers and meatless options.
I think I've found a new favorite in Lexington! We visited on a very rainy Saturday night, and the warm, kitschy environment was welcoming and comfortable. (Think Lynn's Paradise Cafe) The food was outstanding, and the wait staff was personable and efficient. A pair of guitarists were providing soft classic rock with vocals reminiscent of Neil Young. I'd go back tonight if I could.
We love the Red Light! It is an eclectic and fun place to eat. Food is good. Service is great.
Food and service were excellent. Look forward to my next trip here.
Great restaurant. Messed up my wife's order (brought french onion soup instead of fried chicken) but it was fine.
I visited Red Light Kitchen twice within ten days. So, yes, it was good enough to return. The food was excellent, well prepared and well presented. The servers were professional and friendly. My only criticism was that it seemed to take longer than necessary for the food to arrive. But, I still would return again and look forward to trying something new on the menu. Thanks!
What a fabulous Valentine’s Day we had! Thanks for great service, wonderful atmosphere, and fabulous food! We always visited when this was A La Lucie’s. I think she’d be so proud that this is carrying on her legacy.
The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Music wasn't so loud that you had to shout to be heard. Service was friendly and professional. I liked the variety of choices on the menu and put together a full meal by combining crab cake appetizer with an arugula salad and a bowl of autumn vegetable soup. The food was delicious - not overly spiced. I appreciated that it was not greasy, so I felt full, but not stuffed when we left. My wife had a pomegranate margarita and I had a sazerac. Both drinks were perfect. We plan to go back and bring friends.
We go back again and again and again and never disappointed.
We had an excellent experience at Red Light Kitchen Saturday night. Our waitress was awesome. She had too many tables, but managed to take care of us the entire time we were there. The menu had many options and our food was delicious. The mussels were large and plentiful as was the warm bread. The wedge salad was also delicious. We will be back soon and hope to have Margie wait on us again!
We love this restaurant--great food service excellent--had a very nice 3 piece band on Saturday--we were able to watch the game as well as listen to some great tunes. Best thing on menu--Donut Bread Pudding--save room for it.
We went for lunch. We had great service. We ordered mostly small plate and appetizers. The food was delicious. I liked the atmosphere and will definitely go back.
We really enjoyed our evening at red light.. food was original and delicious
We had a great meal at Red Light Kitchen. The service was just right. Drinks were good. I am going back soon.
Always good and that’s why we keep coming back! The menu changes with the season with innovated dishes. Yes we will be back!
The service was the excellent. Our table ordered salads, mussels, crab cakes, fish and chips and scallops. All were spot on. The house made blue cheese buttermilk dressing was noteworthy. As always the atmosphere reflected Lucie’s eclectic collections and is always fun to view. A pleasant casual dining experience.
Great menu! The drinks were superb? Eclectic decor. A fun place to eat & explore!
Food was great! Loved the atmosphere and live music. Very nice staff. Will definitely be going back.
Food was good. Service was slow. The live music was to loud and annoying. Also we are in Kentucky and they do not have sweet tea. Just my thoughts from a local.
We went to Red Light to celebrate my Birthday. From the time that we were greeted by Sue until we left, The folks at the Red Light took great care of us. We had some very good and interesting cocktails and excellent appetizers (dumplings were super) to start. Everyone enjoyed their entrée. The salmon was very good. the desert selection was varied and delicious. The service was excellent and the food was an excellent value. Everyone had a great time!
We found this restaurant on this app.. we are from MI and just for one night! This turned out to be a very awesome meal and experience! We loved everything we got and wished we could of got more... everything on the menu sounds delicious! We also loved the music and found out what Spotify playlist they had on! Great night out at a fun restaurant with the best food!
Food was excellent. Pan seared halibut with bacon jam was outstanding as was the surf and turf special.
We enjoy the eclectic decor and creative food. Having different price points makes us likely to go for a special occasion or a casual dinner out.
Hallowe'en at the Red Light. They know how to do holidays here. The ambiance was suitably spooky, patrons and service wore costumes, belly dancers and a drag show review added to the festivities. Our waiter at table three was terrific, attentive and gracious. The menu featured some very inventive dishes and the comfort food sort of selections were a cut above simply comfort, such as the excellent fried chicken.
Great restaurant, one of our favorite! Fried chicken, pork chop, Tuna bowl, specials, it’s always good!
We all were very impressed! Between the 6 of us, we ordered 5 appetizers. All were amazing! They came out very quick as well. The entrees were excellent! I had the prime rib gnocchi which was delicious. The environment was a lot more casual/laid back than we expected but was nice. A very eclectic feel. Our waiter was excellent, and very knowledgeable. Drinks came quick! I would highly recommend eating here. We can’t wait to go back
Food was good and loved that some of the old A' La Lucie items were on the menu. Our server was flustered and service was slow. I don't think it was any fault of the kitchen's and the food was good.
Went there for a date night with my husband. Food was really good but they overcooked my husband's pork chop. The kitchen corrected it and was delicious. I had the seared flat iron steak and it was cooked perfectly. Great atmosphere. Would highly recommend it and we will be back.
Excellent food and service . Loved the hummus, corn pudding and atmosphere. Everyone really enjoyed their meal.
