We went to the Red House to celebrate an 80th birthday. The staff made sure to seat us on the main floor so no one had to climb the stairs. The food was delicious we had the Seafood Risotto, Lomo Saltado and the lasagna. Started with a delicious salami appetizer and washed it down with some pineapple Sangria. It was a really nice time. The birthday Girl loved it!
Hector was very nice and attentive...he’s hilarious too! We enjoyed his humor...and the meal and wine! Red House is one of my most favorite places for special occasions or girls nite out!!
We have been to the Red House many times and it never disappoints. Usually, I get the macaroni & cheese but this time I ventured out of my comfort zone and got the salmon with mushroom & truffle risotto. I am SO glad I did! The salmon was cooked perfectly; fluffy and moist and the risotto was creamy and delicious. My husband got the steak and it was thinly sliced and amazingly prepared.
Our service was prompt and discreet. I don't recall her name, but she recommended very good wines based on our very generic run down of what we liked in a wine, and she made big points with my husband by suggesting we get the salted caramel gelato with the apple crisp - which was amazing. I recommend the Red House to everyone who is going anywhere near Renton and it's my favorite date night restaurant.
Took my husband here for his birthday, the place was fantastic! The shrimp tapas was so good I licked the bowl! We were pretty full by the time the dinner came, but we are it all anyway because it was so tasty!
We tried Red House because a neighbor recommended it- and we loved every minute of our visit! Food was great, service was amazing!
Easter Brunch
While not particularly young child friendly, I take my 10 and 8 year old daughters regularly. The Mac n cheese is the best around Seattle for them! There is a,ways a nice wild fish option for me. The atmosphere is original. We love the red house.
Food was fabulous and our server was great! Will come back soon!
We have always had a wonderful dinner at the Red House and Cesar, Orlando and all the staff are terrific. Bravo :)
Great gem of a Tapas Wine and Beer Bar in the heart of Renton. Food was delicious and with great portions. The vibe of an old house did bring back some college frat house memories, but the service and choices of wines / beer quickly put those skeletons back in the appropriate closet.
The best part - the cost was HALF of what you might expect of a similar menu and experience in Seattle, with food that was 95% of quality and presentation. This will be on a short list for future fun nights out with friends.
Well done!
Always a great meal and great wine selection
Very noisy, food was good, waiter was good , didn't care for having to eat upstairs, hard on the knees.
Terrifically tasty, well-cooked food. Nice service. Comfortable place.
This place is a gem. Great selection of wines and love that you can look at the bottles of wine along the wall before making a selection. Wine prices are good. Our meals were wonderful. I had a salad. It was delicious. My friend and I both had the salmon entree for dinner. Good sized portion and it tasted great. Our waiter was very patient and accommodating to my special requests. Free parking across the street is an added bonus.
We regularly come here for date night. Usually the service is outstanding, the food is good, but we would like to see a little more variation and value for the $. Still definitely recommend over many other restaurants in the area.
The six of us enjoyed our meals. A few had crabcakes which they said were delicious, I had a Caesar salad which I enjoyed and the lamb burger was a hit with two of the team. Everyone enjoyed the ambience, the food, an attentive waitress and our out of the way table! Thank you for a nice time...
We've been to the Red House many times. Never ceases to amaze us how the menu changes and improves. Four tapas and a salad shared between two almost defeated us. High quality ingredients, well-prepared, and reasonably priced.
We have been looking for a restaurant like this for a while. Great food and wine.
Awesome as always, in every way. One of the very best of Renton and foodies will love it too!
We both the lamb chops special. It was very good. Great wine selection.
It was our first time there to meet friends for dinner. The food was very good. The staff was very friendly. We had a good time. I recommend you give them a try!
I have been coming here for years, and remain fond of the place, but this was one of my least favorite experiences. I had the duck special, and the meat was a little difficult for me to cut with the table knife on my table. I kept looking for server to ask for a steak knife or something similar, but he was nowhere to be seen. In fact, we never saw him again until he asked if we wanted dessert.
The Red House can be a little noisy at times, owing to the acoustics and layout of the charming building it is in.
Low marks for service on this visit. For $60 for two, we expect a little better.
Valentine’s Day
We went for Valentine's, and ordered their special of the day. Salads, cheese plate, 20 oz steak, dessert. We had two glasses of a fine Malbec with this. The steak was particularly fun, as it arrived as one slab, so we each had to cut off what we wanted. Might not be to everyone's taste, but it felt playful to us, so in the spirit of V-Day.
For me, on a five star rating, 4 means a regional draw. So I would have no trouble recommending the Red House to folks from, say, Redmond or Tacoma.
We’ve always enjoyed this restaurant and the vibe, food, wine, and service. The wine shop aspect is fun. Never had been seated upstairs in the small room before, and so this was a first. It has a few tables for two in it, and we quickly realized it was hard for our conversation in there to be private. Other rooms have adequate ambient noise so this isn’t an issue. Overall love the place but will avoid that room in the future. By the way, the paella dish is wonderful!
Delicious, great steak. Good drinks. Will cone back soon.
Nice Valentine Menu. Porterhouse dinner for two very good and great value.
Restaurant needs ambience. Very stark table settings and surrounding . Old house and could be charming with a little decor .
We love Red House! Excellent food every time. Went on Valentine’s this year - two thumbs up 👍 very well done. They are so nice and the food is excellent.
The host made up for the lack of attention from the waitress, and the Paella was tasty, though not as good as I remembered. I bit disappointed in this visit but I'll go back.
Second time here and a little disappointed. Tried to serve entrees before appetizers. When they brought the entrees back, 2 of them were cold and had to be returned again and remade. Two in our party ordered paella - one liked it, the other said it was bland. Lasagne was good. Mac & cheese with crab was bland. But appetizers were excellent. Lamb Meatballs were well seasoned and slightly spicy. Crab Cakes were mostly crab, not a lot of filler. House salad was very fresh with a tasty dressing that had a bit of zip. Enjoyed the Disruptive Cabernet (very smooth) and the Sangria (very fruity). The Blueberry Cheesecake was smooth, creamy and not too sweet. They were very generous about messing up the entrees and did not charge for the paella. In the future, we will stick with the tapas and skip the entrees.
It was a very laid back and comfortable get toget
Always a great experience with amazing food and a great hard cider selection.
No attention to proper coursing pace. We ordered a salad, one hot appetizer, and two hot entrees. The salad came out first but we were only given about 5 minutes to eat it before everything else was brought to the table at once! No restaurant should allow that to happen. This required us to eat the hot food dishes and appetizer all at once before they could get cold. We were finished in just 45 minutes and a $90 bill (only one glass of wine was ordered). Had the courses been properly timed we would have been able to enjoy the meal more thoroughly and would have purchased more wine. This dinner reminded us of touristy restaurants in Europe where waiters could care less about their guests and people are rushed in and out as fast as possible. Terrible.
A wonderful meal with co-workers on one of our few "down time" evenings. Service was a bit slow with our waiter not coming back regularly. Our meals were impeccable, the Red House salad and lamb meatballs were amazing, fresh and tasty!
This was our 3rd time eating here during the past 2 years, and we continue to be pleased with the quality of the food and the wine selection. My son was visiting from Phoenix, and he also enjoyed our experience. We were seated on the upper level, which isn't long on ambience and can get very loud if there are large parties. However, Renton is scarce on better quality restaurants, and The Red House is that category. Recommended.
Quality not what it was two years ago. Disappointed.
The waiter was knowledgeable and charming and offered us a free glass of wine for the wait (which wasn’t too noticeable to us). The wine he recommended went well with our meal. The meal itself left us wanting more and we finished it off with a recommended 4-layer chocolate dessert that also paired well with the wine. Overall, it was a wonderful environment and experience with both service and food.
This was my first time there and I will be back. The food was very good and the service was attentive without being intrusive.
The menu had changed a lot, fewer choices and the service was poor at best.
We have been many times before. It was a quiet for a week day, but I felt service was slow, we had to wait for our waiter, not sure where he was disappearing to. He seemed a little stressed or something, we had to ask for what the special was. He had a thick accent, and spoke really fast, like he did not want us to understand. However not being American myself I was able to figure out what he was saying. The food has been better, we actually ended up taking our check downstairs to pay because we wanted to leave and he was nowhere to be seen. There was a blond waiter..I would recommend that he tie his hair back before he serves food because it was all over the place. I will go back...
