Red House Ratings and Reviews
The waiter was knowledgeable and charming and offered us a free glass of wine for the wait (which wasn’t too noticeable to us). The wine he recommended went well with our meal. The meal itself left us wanting more and we finished it off with a recommended 4-layer chocolate dessert that also paired well with the wine. Overall, it was a wonderful environment and experience with both service and food.
We have been many times before. It was a quiet for a week day, but I felt service was slow, we had to wait for our waiter, not sure where he was disappearing to. He seemed a little stressed or something, we had to ask for what the special was. He had a thick accent, and spoke really fast, like he did not want us to understand. However not being American myself I was able to figure out what he was saying. The food has been better, we actually ended up taking our check downstairs to pay because we wanted to leave and he was nowhere to be seen. There was a blond waiter..I would recommend that he tie his hair back before he serves food because it was all over the place. I will go back...
New management has ruined Red House. I’ve not been here for about 9 months. It’s nothing it was before. Rude waiter, food slapped on a plate felt prepackaged...what a shame. Gallo salami...Costco crackers... ask for the ‘Rustic bread’ that comes with plate and more Costco crackers dropped on table without so much as a word...really? When we arrived and the place was empty, we should have left. I will not be back.
It's a lot more fun when you can sit outside on their terrace. We were seated at an okay table upstairs, but it got a bit noisy once the beer tasting event started. Great food, with a Mediterranean tapas vibe. The Paella had the right flavor profile; the chorizo and chicken were a little dry, but the mussels and clams were delicious and fresh-tasting. They have a good wine selection, and their Sangria with fresh fruit was delicious and authentic.
The food was great and they paired it with some excellent wine for us. It is a very relaxed environment and they were playing 80s and 90s music which my wife and I loved. There is a huge selection of wine and some rare beers to be found as well. Not an everyday meal due to the price, but we will definitely be back.
I have been a regular customer at Red House for a couple of years but last night's dinner on 10/12 was so disappointing. I took my mother out for what I hoed would be a nice meal but both the service and food were less than stellar. The server did not clarify the order so our plates arrived at different times. In addition, the salmon was significantly under done. Would recommend that servers ask how the customer would like did to be done. For an $80+ meal I was very unhappy. I will not be returning unless the management would like to comp this meal and provide their team with another opportunity to retain this customer.
I had been to the Red House many times and this time was a special evening as I was bringing my girlfriend for the first time. Staff is always great and we were seated on the second floor in front of window as requested which was great. Unfortunately there was a group of ladies having a very nice time but so loud very hard to have a pleasant conversation between us. We then unfortunately received our dinners before our appetizers and then they brought them out while eating. The crab cakes had a weird smell and my girlfriend was unable to eat which we informed the staff. They were kind enough to remove the appetizers from our bill.
We used to be "regulars" for many years at The Red House. Over the past several years there have been many changes which had us feeling like we had lost an old friend and what it had been replaced with was not nearly as good. After several months away, we tried it again tonight. We were met with smiles and warm welcomes by both some "old" staff and newer staff that we had never met. We had outstanding service and the food was delicious- much like old times. We are cautiously optimistic and are looking forward to adding The Red House back in to our date night rotation!
This is the third time I've been to the Red House. I stumbled across it when in Renton and it is my go to restaurant in that town. I've only been there during the day and I've always sat out on the big deck out front. It appears that they have quite a wine selection/cellar but I've never tried it out.
Last time at Red House. We have been going there for years, but last year, I think, they switched over to a more "farm to table" restaurant. The choices are much fewer than before and many are a little too gourmet for our tastes. The special calamari appetizer we had had very little calamari, some peppers and onions and some good bread. Calamari strips were okay, a bit rubbery. The Red House Salad is too hard to eat, with huge lettuce leaves and long strips of red onions. The lasagna was just okay. We've always enjoyed the patio dining with a bottle of wine. I think the food needs to go back to where it used to be.
The food was good and the outdoor seating enjoyable. There was an obnoxious loud bell on the door that would clang and bang on the door each time a server opened it. I asked if they could do something and was ignored. Although the food was good, I'd think twice before subjecting myself to that bell again.
Haven't been in a long while. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. One hiccup, I asked for no cheese, got cheese but the meal took rather long so I ate it anyways. Will definitely return! Oh & also their menu online is different than their actual menu - just a heads up.
All of the food was delicious, except that our steak was over-cooked. We ordered it medium rare, and it came out well done. The flavor was good, it just didn't have any pink! I would highly recommend dinning here, as the rest of the food was amazing, the wine list is great, and the patio is very relaxing!
