The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Our first time here since they reopened. Great food and great service! Went for our Anniversary and they gave us 2 celebratory champagnes. From appetizers to desserts everything was delicious. Loved the decor too!!
Overall, a satisfying experience! Service, food and ambiance was outstanding. Noise level was a bit over the top as the evening progressed.
we have been to many of Davids restuarants and love them.
We went for burger bento box night. We were seated next to a very large table of 16 so it was noisy and it was their waiter who was out waiter.
the lobster dumplings came our warm at best and hard, like they had been sitting around. We ordered an order of fries, which came out cold. The burgers were also just warm. it was as if our order was ready and it took a long time for him to get it and bring it upstairs. We ran out of sparkling water and he said he as going to get some more. we ate our whole dinner without any, and when he came back upstairs, he still didnt have any and finally sent someone else over to bring some more.
he was very apologetic when we told him about the meal and wanted to make it up to us with dessert but by then it was almost 9 on sunday and we had had enough.
our first meal at this restaurant the food was also terrific but bad service. The first thing i ordered was the popovers, they didnt come w the appetizers or even before as they should. when i reminded the waiter, he said i didnt forget they usually come w the entrees...how stupid instead of just admitting his mistake. i said no problem i would rather just ake them to go anyway, but then 5 mins later they brought them out anyway...
terrific food normally but the service there has been poor twice...
I love this restaurant but they failed miserably Saturday night. I was not happy to sit in the bar room despite a reservation for the dining room, not happy with the noise level which created inability to hear my wife and friends at my table and displeased that it took over two hours to produce my entree. I acknowledge and thank them for reducing the bill significantly but i really prefer a great dining experience. The restaurant is clearly understaffed and over booked which is evident by the inability to park in their lot or reasonably close to the restaurant. They need to review their business model or they will be out of business and a casualty of their own success.
Though the highest noise level says "Energetic" that implies a good thing. But having a meal at a small table with 4 people and having to yell so much that I am horse the next day is a little much.
The food was delicious and true to David Burke a bit pricey. But still worth it. Again, until the place cleared out a bit, the noise level was a bit much.
We dine out frequently and have frequented other David Burke restaurant’s and have always had a good experience. It’s seldom I leave a review but feel this needs to be said. While we all understand that there is a shortage of servers, the restaurant was full and the other servers were attentive and professional. Except ours. It took her 10-15 minutes for her to acknowledge our table. Once drinks were served it took her another 15 minutes to even ask us if we had menus or questions. She never returned to the table to ask about bar refills. Never offered that we needed to order sides separately. We were served two chateaubriands - they were delicious - on a giant board with no sides, no sauces and we could never get her attention to even ask to add them to our order. One person in the party ordered a dessert that could have easily served the entire table - but no mention of that. We were not given silverware to even try to split it. We had to ask her repeatedly (and very nicely at that) for sugar for coffee that she finally brought and proceeded to slam down on the table. For the record, we were all extremely polite, never raised a voice and on the way out there was no one at the front desk to even voice an opinion. David Burke was at the restaurant and he is personable, professional and we are fans. But poor service is just not acceptable. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
Fantastic. Way to spend a birthday!
Fine experience, everything went well, service was exceptional.
Came here for our anniversary, started off great but then as the night went on it just went ok. The food was outstanding as always (this was my 4th time) but my husband’s side dish came out almost as he was done eating his entree (they did compensate but it was disappointing). Then when we asked for dessert to go because we were in a rush we ended up waiting 20 minutes. It would have been quicker to have ordered it to stay. Plus we ordered a dessert I had before because they said it was the easiest to package, and when we got home the cotton candy tasted like medicine. It was so bad we threw it away. We had this before and it excellent. They said there was a problem with the machine yet another couple had the same thing served 15 minutes before and it was not pea green in color. They should have asked us to pick a dessert easier to box up and quicker. It was a disappointing way to end the evening. I hope the next time we go it is like the times I went before because it’s really the last place for gourmet dining in our area.
The noise level was high because a women at the other table was talking very loud. Other than that it was quiet.
The food is excellent, the prices are a little high. But you get what you pay for.
Excellent food, service, etc. Only downside was a very disruptive diner at another table.
Do not skip the tin can cake! The black caramel brussel sprouts were amazing.
What an absolutely embarrassing dining experience. My wife and I made a dinner reservation 3 months in advance for our wedding anniversary. Upon arriving, 3 different people had to try to find a table for our reservation. We were finally seated at a table in the bar. Not exactly the ambiance we wanted for our anniversary, but I gave the benefit of the doubt. Nobody was aware of our anniversary even though it was noted on the reservation. Our entrees were very disappointing. I had a ribeye which had no flavor except for the steak sauce it was served on. My wife had a very dry duck which was supposed to come with a cornbread and foie gras side, but was served cornbread and pate instead. I had also ordered the A5 wagyu beef entree to split. I ordered the meat rare, but when it came out it was ice cold and basically raw. We were shown a piece of sizzling meat on a salt brick that was taken back and allegedly sliced for us. There was no way it was the same piece of meat. When it was time for dessert I mentioned to the waitress it was our anniversary. We received dessert and then a few minutes later we were given a slice of strawberry with a candle in it. An absolutely abysmal showing for a restaurant that is supposed to be a fine dining experience. Not to mention, absolutely no managers made their presence known or came to our table to check on us the entire night. I absolutely will not be back and will be sure to tell anyone that asks how disappointing our experience was.
Another exceptional restaurant from David Burke. Excellent and interesting seafood offerings, including appetizers like salmon and tuna tartar. Even the popovers were great.
Food was excellent, good portions. Alexa our server was great.
Our only complaint was the acoustics in the dining room along with the music which was a bit loud and distracting.
Good food.... good service... a umber for tables are very small for 2 people once food and appetizers come out. Those tables should be bar tables not dining tables. Also the music throughout the night definitely did not go with the ambiance and set up of the restaurant. Michael Jackson music in a potential 4-5 star restaurant doesn’t work... and it was loud. Lastly... seating at the bar was crammed/tight
Great food, beautiful decor…too loud though - could not hear each other talking. Maybe tablecloths and window dressing could help absorb some of the noise.
Great special occasion restaurant. Food & service was exceptional
The food is excellent, the price is high and the portions are small. The place is high end the and extremely loud this is not a place for a quite date. Go with friends and bring cash for a slight discount.
Dress code is business casual but some people were in shorts & jeans, not appropriate for the prices charged
Aa always David Burke does it right !!
Just a bit pricey for what we got
We had a delicious meal and really enjoyed our evening!
Fancy lobster sat on my stomach for days. Why tempura fry a lobster shell I have no idea Underwhelming.
Porterhouse was delicious.
Oysters good, but expensive.
Blantons Bourbon $30. Whoa!
Waiter made us uncomfortable. We could tell he wanted to close up so he could leave.
I would pass on Red Horse.
Sorry David. We gave it a shot twice.
Excellent service, timely, engaged, professional. Modern innovative food, that sometimes tries too hard by overloading ingredients where less would be more. Prices normal for location. Atmosphere is a bit amped up high energy for sedate suburban family location.
Excellent food but very, very expensive!
A memorable dinning experience , starting with friendly staff and quick service , leading up to a meal that was delicious as well as innovative . From our party of 6 the only complaint was we wished our appetites could be bigger. The marrow appetizer was insanely good , fresh oysters , feather light popovers with sweet butter followed by perfect Wagyu steaks and Lobster dishes . The Panacotta special , tiny dancer and creme brûlée were divine. The Wine list and cocktails offer great choices. I cant wait to go back .
The quality of the Steak was poor.
Was not a "prime" cut, more like low quality "choice".
Much better steak choices elsewhere.
Food is consistently fantastic! We prefer seating in the energetic bar area and have great night out with friends. . Staffing is tough for all venues, but the staff here does their very best to accommodate. Highly recommend!
Disappointed to be seated in the bar. Now know that I need to specifically request the dining room. Even the noisy crowd could not take away from the delicious food. The excellent service also helped make the night better.
Mango salmon roll was top notch - great server and overall nice meal but must say Dan the sommelier knows how to help find a great bottle of wine at a fair price - nicely done!
Ambiance downstairs is preferred .
Would return in a heartbeat .
Daniel was awesome when we were running late !
Food was excellent .
The food was fantastic. The service was excellent. My wife and I were very pleased.
The food was great, service was amazing and atmosphere was perfect!
Tremendous, get the bacon!
Great food and service. Only thing I didn’t like was you had to eat upstairs if you wanted to order sushi. I wasn’t sure what I wanted so ended up eating upstairs. Room was nice but like downstairs ambiance better for a romantic dinner.
Steak was excellent, limited menu, service excellent, very expensive very poor value . Significant charge for using a credit card. Will not return
Nothin special about food but was bad … my husbands pork chop with clams they decided to add peas which is not on the menu and never asked if it was ok and did not take back.
This is one of the best restaurants in New Jersey hands down. David has an inspirational menu and dishes are prepared to perfection. It’s a excellent restaurant with perfect music playing in the background.
