Red Ginger Dim Sum and Tapas
Decent food, but far from the best dim sum I’ve had.
Shanghai dumplings were killer.
Food was excellent. The server more than accommodated some special needs. One of my favorite restaurants in Asheville.
We have eaten at Red Ginger several times before and the service, food and value have all been outstanding. The soft shell crabs were in a slightly spicy, delicious sauce. The tuna was done rare to perfection and the calamari with a slight curry flavor was excellent.
Wonderful food and great service!
Imagine: It is Monday nght in Asheville , NC. My wife and I have been there for 4 days looking into second home/retirement information. We are from NJ and we have eaten all over the world. The Red Ginger's food is great. Just like dim sum places I have been in NYC, Hong Kong, China. Broad offerings, came out fast (too fast, but we didn't care.). Every seat was taken with a sizeable line out the door. Very authentic. I am back in my office in NJ and missing that meal already. Casual, lively, great service and a very good range of items to eat. Might have to buy a house there---The crowd looked like New Yorkers, priced out of Williamsburg!
Great spot in downtown Asheville!
Absolutely delicious. Seriously - at the risk of making it harder for ourselves, you really need to enjoy this place. It’s astounding. I don’t use those adjectives often.
All of the dim sum we had was awesome - crystal shrimp dumplings, Shanghai soup dumplings, shu Mai, garlic ginger green beans, salt and pepper prawns, crispy curry calamari, and even an impromptu order of chicken fried rice were all INCREDIBLE and on par with a high end experience you might have in SF Chinatown. Honestly.
Service was awesome - our server was slammed throughout the night, but she went far out of her way to make sure we were well take care of.
Love, love, love this place!!!
Green beans are the BEST !!!!! LOVE IT, great lunch specials
Red Ginger is a great restaurant overall but I was, and have been, disappointed in their limited and frankly bland, g-free options. I would recommend this restaurant to others, but never if they were on a gluten-free diet. It’s pretty easy to make g-free Asian sauces that could be used with many of their dishes, so I’m not sure why they don’t, especially in Asheville, of all places.
We arrived early for our reservation and were seated promptly. The tapas & dim sum we had were delicious (schezuapn wontons, hot and sour soup, pork buns). The dan dan noodles were good, but the dynamite roll isn’t something I’d order again. The service was good, but like much of what we’ve experienced in Asheville, laid back and slower.
I have found allergies but the waitress was very helpful with identifying foods I could eat. We all loved the dishes we ordered. We'll definitely go back!
First time visit. Wonderful experience. Looking forward to a return trip to Asheville. Will definitely be returning.
Food is delicious and service very good! Cocktails were great too!
I would describe this experience as uneven. Some items were outstanding and others so,so. Don’t miss the green beans. The seaweed salad was just as expected. The vegetable lo mein and chicken sticky rice were kind of tasteless. The eggplant and calamari were just ok. The portions for dim sum or tapas are more than adequate and value is high. Next time I will order the Szechwan dishes and skip the others. There are not hot and have more flavor. The restaurant itself is very lovely.
This is just the best Asian food! We keep going back, and back and back. By the way, they also make a great cocktail.
Probably my favorite place to eat in Asheville.
Food was great however our last 2 trips have been disappointing because of service - not the server - but the fact that management doesn’t bring enough staff, which results in waiting entirely too long to order drinks and food almost to the point of throwing a $20 on the table and walking out the door because the server has to juggle way too many tables and there your group sits twiddling their fingers. Smarten up Red Ginger.
I really like every dish that I have had there. I recently found the scallion pancakes...yum! Service is very good and so is the price.
They never disappoint, every dish was excellent
This should really be a maybe. The lobster my brother and I ordered was impossible to eat. It was cut up in really small pieces and we could not get it out of the shell. Why they did not leave it in one piece is beyond me.
The sweet and sour soup was delicious! Fried vegetable rice was good too.
The ambiance is one of a busy restaurant and not what we expected in what was called a chic contemporary restaurant.
We were in Asheville for our Anniversary and found this place on yelp because all the other restaurants we wanted to visit were completely booked for the weekend we were in town and we waited till the last minute to look for a reservation somewhere. We were able to get a late reservation, and we were so thrilled. The food was beyond amazing, and we’re still talking about it days later. I highly recommend giving this place a try. We had 2 soups, lo-mien, green beans, and several other dim sum dishes and every single dish was beyond amazing. We would definitely recommend putting this place at the top of your list. Service was also top notch.
Horrible experience. Service was bad - she seemed annoyed the whole time. Food was awful. Edamame tasted like mushy warmed up leftovers from last week. Half the dishes were served cold. Will never go back. Don’t bother. Lots of great food in Asheville. Don’t settle for mediocrity.
We would highly recommend Red Ginger. A great variety of Asian-influenced plates to share and enjoy.
Excellent as always
Good food and such a fun variety to choose from. We enjoy it often. Something for everyone including good vegetarian options.
Amazing and very quick. Loved it. Will be back soon.
Love this place, especially for their lunch box special. Best deal in Asheville.
The soup dumplings are to die for! The server was very engaging and helpful. The atmosphere was fun and upbeat. The prices were very reasonable. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here.
Went to this restaurant for a birthday dinner and it did not disappoint! The wontons and dumplings were out of this world fantastic and our waiter was great. He swiftly moved from table to table, picking up plates, asking if we needed anything, could he get us anything else.
Food was great! Service was good. Drinks were so-so.
Had a wonderful evening. Food was delicious and service was impeccable. It was quiet enough to visit with friends
Fun place...we just kept trying dishes so fun!
We ate here twice during our few days in Asheville. The food comes fast and is delicious. We craved the sauteed green beans, as did most other diners, judging by all the bean that went by us. There are about 20 different types of dumplings. We tried about 5 of them and they were all great. It was hard to decide what to order, but I don't think you can go wrong with anything.
Good fresh food , prompt service and a great atmosphere
Excellent food and fine service but the noise level was horrendous. Will try to find a better time of day. Dinner is obviously not the quietest.
Food was great. Service was quick, even for a busy Friday night. Great variety of vegetarian foods
I had the BBQ Chicken buns, which were tasty. A little too much dough in the buns. I also had the potstickers. There were six large potstickers in the order, which was filling, with nothing special about the taste of them. I also had the spicy salmon roll, which was vert tasty.
My favorite restaurant. Consistently excellent.
