Red Dog Saloon is an Austin, TX Barbecue restaurant, serving 18-hour roast ribs, brisket, aged chuck steak burgers and much more, all best enjoyed with tasty cocktails or milkshakes.
Barbecue grew up in the South of the USA where cooks learned to slow roast cuts of meat over fire pits to make them tender. Exposure to the smoke of the smoldering wood added a distinctive smoky and juicy taste to the meat. Our award-winning smokers have been imported from the USA and are built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We use the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavor, and the meat stays in the smoker for up to 18 hours.

                                                                                                                                                                                        My teenage son wanted to try brisket for ye first time and we were so lucky to have found this restaurant. The staff were first class , we chose a 2 person platter that was slightly over my budget and the amazing waitress organised with the chef a smaller serving for both of us that I could afford that wasn’t on the menu. We can’t wait to come back

Atmosphere was good. Plenty of customers.

                                                                                                                                                                                        Food was top class as always, service was also great, it’s just a shame the menu has been reduced so drastically and the prices increased to the same extent which makes it an occasional visit, rather than it being a regular eat out spot.

                                                                                                                                                                                        nearly £100 for three meals considering one was a kids meal and the food was average as hell. I spent years raving about how amazing the mozerella sticks they were served in a huge basket and had the ultimate cheese pull. So imagine my frustration when this is the pathetic thing we were served Adding a service charge without telling us and giving me a chance to check the receipt is out of order as there wasn't much service than to would normally expect so bit of a cheek And since when have you gotta pay to add fries on? Absolutely gutted and fuming about the whole experience I moved out of Southampton 13 years ago and this was always the one I would recommend to anyone. No more recommendations from me and I certainly won't be returning and wasting £100

Food was nice though. Would go back but just get the burger

                                                                                                                                                                                        Lack-lustre greeting from server and could tell the waitress who took our order just didn’t want to be there or cared. Considering the price of my half chicken was £16 I’d have expected something bigger than a partridge. Absolute joke. As for my partner, £15.50 for a burger and fries weren’t included. An additional £5.50 for half cut fries. Doesn’t come close to Hickory’s. Stay away from Red Dog and spend your money at Hickory’s. Better value and quantity.

Long wait for the food to come out however was quite busy so understandable. Drinks took a while to be delivered to table. Ordered an item with food order and it didn't turn up, wasn't charged so no biggie. Would recommend 👍🏼

Food was very tasty but it was not very hot upon arrival and therefore cooled down very quickly. Iced tea was delicious. Overall a good experience.
