Red Cedar & Sage
From Western Avenue, the street that runs behind the market, you will see our signs. There is parking on Western as well as two parking garages across the street from the restaurant.
From Pike Place Market we recommend that you take the elevator located behind Pike's Pit Bar-B-Q near the Rotary Grocery Store. Take the elevator to "Floor 2" and you'll be in the restaurant!
Fantastic food and friendly service. I'm always surprised at how easy it is to get in. Highly recommend it!
Very nice atmosphere , cool music, great menu
We enjoyed a birthday celebration in a relaxed atmosphere with good food and friendly, efficient service.
The food was AMAZING! And the staff was great as well! I was there with a large group of girls and everyone loved it!
The food was delicious! And everyone who worked there was so friendly and polite :)
Cute restaurant, hard to find but it’s a hidden gem.
Beautiful place for a yummy dinner!! We tried the baguette with olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette, salmon bruschetta and for dinner we got the rigatoni and the artichoke pasta. Everything is good for sharing too. Smaller portions but enough to still share for 2. If more than 2 go ahead and get a few more things and that will be enough to share!! Great place, great wine, great service loved the food!!!!
employees were nice and helpful and food was amazing and favorable,
Everyone was very friendly, the food was excellent and a realistic portion, the cocktails were amazing!
We were there for a welcome to Seattle brunch. The waitress didn’t even acknowledge that we were celebrating anything.
Had a large group of 7. Drinks were great, the food was very good, service was quick.
Great cocktails and delicious food. The service was excellent. Want to go back soon.
Overpriced tourist food. Average Southwest Chicken Salad, great Beet Salad, poor pizza. Service was pretty slow and disorganized. Manager comped a drink which I appreciated.
Burrata was great but was on a salt block and over time turned way too salty. By over time, I mean within minutes. The pizza was decent. The service and ambiance made up for it.
Great seafood--fresh and well prepared. Sturgeon was a daily special and excellent as was the salmon. Waitstaff were awesome!
I had the crab Benedict, which was pretty good. The bloody mary bar was the highlight. Overall it felt a bit pricey for the experience.
You have to try this restaurant if you haven’t done so yet! Fabulous food, great service, ambience is quiet and lovely. The rices are reasonable especially due to the quality of the food. Try it!!!!
We decided to have a last minute mini celebration for getting a new job. It was a spur of the moment thing and I’d been wanting to visit this restaurant. It ended up being dead slow so we nearly had the place to ourselves- apparently they had just opened up for their first day following their usual 3 week holiday. The food, service, and ambiance was great but I’d suggest going for brunch or lunch instead- I think I have 5 Pan seared scallops and 6 asparagus for $36? Glad we had a certificate :) we’ll be back for weekend brunch!
The restaurant was nice, server was friendly, food was good. That being said, either the food was overpriced or the level of the restaurant is a little low. $38 for Steak Fritte that was OK and sitting on plastic chairs didn't really fit. Either the prices should come down a bit (in which it would be a great place to grab a good meal near Pike Place Market) or the quality of the food needs to come up a little to match the prices. Good meal though, and the patio seating section is pretty cool.
Very well decorated for the holidays. Loved the patio view. The food was better than I expected!
Really enjoyed the brunch - especially the Pineapple Coconut Mimosa - VERY nice staff and the place is really nicely put together. Will be back!
This is our new go to lunch spot. Great service, awesome food and fabulous menu.
Had been wanting to try Red Cedar and Sage for a while, and my mom was in town which seemed like a good excuse to come. We had a really wonderful experience. The food was delicious, and there were so many things on the menu that it was difficult to pick what to order! Great service, our waiter was really funny and engaging but wasn't overly persistent about coming over.
My only complaint - and this is mostly theoretical - is that I can see it being a loud environment when really busy. The enclosed patio area especially seems that way, and in fact we declined to sit there because of the noise factor. Tables also seem pretty squished together, and I think I might have felt a bit claustrophobic if it had been much busier. I understand restaurants wanting to get as many people in as they can, but that shouldn't come at the expense of being able to sit comfortably and enjoy my meal and dining companions' conversation.
Service staff was great! Food was wonderful. Lighting was a little tough for my old eyes. Enjoyed every thing
Unfortunately I was late, no thanks to bus routes and heavy traffic. Being a single diner, the folks at RC it appeared simply pan seared and flaky moist inside. The rice was also good, flavorful and slightly chewy, which I like. It is rare a vegetable on the side presents a problem, however the baby bok choy wedges proved a questionable choice. I will not fault the curry; it was the size of the wedge and a sense of awkward toughness, as though the base portion was not quite cooked enough. I should have asked for a steak knife. Dessert was chocolate mousse, nicely fluffy and intensely chocolate. All in all, still an great meal.
Good value for money and a very central location downtown Seattle in pleasent surroundings
The food and service was exceptional. I took my Mom, who was in from out of town, to Red Cedar and Sage for her 75th birthday. The portions are very generous, we had left overs with splitting an appetizer and an entree (ceviche and standard cut prime rib) and both were excellent. Beyond the great food the service really what made it exceptional. The server was fantastic, very warm and friendly, as well as the manager. Great experience all around.
The service was fantastic from the moment we walked in the front door. We decided to try somewhere new for Seattle Restaurant Week and we had never been to Red Cedar and Sage. We both had the Salmon Slider for our first course. The roll was soft and the salmon delicious. We both also enjoyed the Prime Rib for our main course. The portion size was generous and the prime rib was roasted with rock salt, so very tender and juicy. They ran out of the lavender ice cream I ordered, so I had the (very light) chocolate mousse and my husband enjoyed the carrot cake. Our only disappointment was that we were seated in a quiet atrium area and less than 5 minutes later a very noisy group of about 15 people were seated next to us, so our quiet date night wasn't exactly quiet. I wish the host would have let us know there was going to be a large group and we would have chosen to sit in the main restaurant area.
Had never been and now expect to put this on regular rotation! Incredibly friendly staff, excellent food (definitely try the French onion soup) and generous portions. It’s tucked away from the noise of Pike’s Place market and a true gem.
My husband and I sought out Red Cedar and Sage in the Pike Place Market for a birthday lunch. It's informal, but the service and the food were both excellent. We split the burrata and tomato salad and the salmon BLTA and had delightful glasses of sparkling rose to go with our orders. The large burrata and ripe tomatoes with balsamic vinegar were served atop a "plate" of pink Himalayan salt, a beautiful touch. The salmon sandwich on a croissant came with lots of salmon, avocado and a strip of bacon. Half was plenty for me. And the fries on the side were thin and crispy, just the way we like them.
This place, in the lower depths of the market, is a little hard to find but definitely worth the journey.
Filet was cold when it arrived despite fries being warm; appetizers were overpriced for the amount of food provided.
Been to Red Cedar and Sage several times and always enjoy it.
Wonderful food, excellent wine, and incredibly friendly service. My wife and I really enjoyed our visit to Red Cedar & Sage in Seattle!
Fabulous bruschetta and the best french dip. Super friendly staff and great menu. We will be back.
Great place for a rainy evening with friends. Wonderful dinner.
Good food in a location at Pikes Place. We were in a hurry and the server worked with us to accommodate our schedule. We had brunch and everyone commented on how good the french toast and eggs were prepared.
Red Cedar and Sage was a good experience but suffered from a disconnect between its product and its price point.
The venue is legitimately cool. We liked the creative decor and the casual vibe. The owners took chances not catering to a conservative crowd and it paid off - even a conservative crowd would be comfortable, and so would diners who want interesting ambience versus a cookie-cutter atmosphere.
We started with calamari and a caprese salad on a salt brick. The calamari was tasty and well-seasoned but one degree too sweet for us to feel balance with the heat and other Asian flavors. The caprese had fantastic taste but the preparation was awkward with tomatoes cut a bit large and not quite enough cheese (service on a salt brick also made the seasoning a bit unpredictable).
Entrees: Prime Rib for me and MP Chilean Sea Bass for my wife. The best part of my plate was the horseradish. The rest (potatoes, particularly) needed salt, the steak itself was a bit too cooked, and the brussel sprouts needed some kind of treatment. Quality food, but inadequately treated to give the dish a memorable quality. The fish was excellent.
Cocktails, per my wife, were outstanding.
We’ve had meals with mistakes. We didn’t have that here. What we missed were the risky moves that paid off. Our dishes were just too safe, and the departures from boring didn’t punch the palate. We couldn’t find the “I really want to come back for the ______” element of our meal, and that’s not terribly inappropriate for many venues, but this kitchen has the potential to deliver that experience (and at their price point they’re competing with other kitchens that do).
We sat next to the window and our server was excellent. There was one issue with a meal that was not ready when the rest of our party was. The manager came right over and apologized, but the food was worth the wait.
If you are at the market is Seattle, this is a great place to eat.
A lovely brunch off of Pike Place Market! The ceviche and the capreze moderna were fantastic, and their coconut mimosa was a tasty tropical treat. Would definitely recommend!
