Red Agave Tequileria + Cocina + Calaca Bar
I was really disappointed in the quality of the food. I went on Valentine’s Day for the first time and they give us an $85 only option. I didn’t want to eat a three course meal but I thought it’s Valentines Day so it might be worth it. The food was not $85 quality. The drinks were way too strong, the queso was fried, and the enchiladas had no taste. Also, on the menu it said mole for two dishes but didn’t put a disclaimer that mole is made with nuts. Luckily I knew beforehand so didn’t get the two dishes but I have a nut allergy and if I didn’t know and ate it, it would’ve been a serious hazard. Not going here again
I made reservations for 6 of us for Valentine's Day. I was unaware that there would be a special menu that we had to use for this night but it turned out lovely. The food and drinks that we had to choose from were all fantastic.
Booked for Valentines Day. When we arrived and were finally sat down they advised us that we could only choose from their "Valentines Day menu". This was not noted anywhere on the open table listing. The food was pretty good however we were limited to a choice of four entrees. They only offered a choice of two different cocktails, both of which were Tequila based which is something I cannot stand. So we were in and out within an hour and were light a hundred dollars.
Excellent quality authentic Mexican food in a lovely restaurant where you can hear each other speak at the table. We had a group of 9 and the service was impeccable.
I guess I'm used to California mexican restaurants! They charged $7 for salsa and chips!!!! This would never happen in So Cal. I chose this place based on reviews. However, my experience was:
Wrong orders came out, food was mediocre , waiter elusive. I wont go back.
High end Mexican food, great service. Massimo is the best ever.
I would recommend Agave but, would also tell them that it is more expensive then most Mexican restaurants. The service is outstanding. Getting our food order took awhile.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is great!
Had a large party for a work event. The team was very accommodating, great service. The drinks were very good and the food was amazing! I forgot my receipt and called the restaurant and the text it to me.
Great food and service
Love the mole sauce! Good margaritas, too. Nice place
The decor at Red Agave is really good considering it's location (in a strip mall). The restaurant has tasty food, but is marred by very slow service.
Red Agave's ambiance someone forgot to take our table. Once we placed drink order and then ordered some apps, the apps came first and there was a delay from the bar. Mildly annoying. Seemed like the staff was just slow in getting into gear. The rest of the meal was excellent. The food was great. Nice presentation. Cocktails were good. Things improved as the night wore on and more staff came on board for the Saturday night crowd. Would return for another visit to try more of their entrees. The menu is extensive and there were many things that sounded great. Pleasant dining without loud noise, loud music, and without TVs.
The food here is always great. Highly recommend one of the molcajetes. We usually share the smaller size for 1 person since it’s pretty large. It took a while for us to get seated even with our reservation but once we sat down the cocktails were fantastic, as was the service! Guacamole is made fresh at the table.
Love eating at the Red Agave. So many good things to eat. Service is very good but we were very disappointed that for a group of more than 7 they would not do separate checks. Did not settle well.
Food was so so, they claim the corn tortillas are home made but I wasn't convinced they truly make them. Salt would have went a long way to add some flavor to the fajitas. We were seated close to the bar and a lady at the bar was loud and was there the whole we were eating dinner. Probably won't go back as Boulder has so many better restaurants
Excellent service. Excellent taste, quality & quality.
Excellent food, large portions, friendly service.
The food was really good —a cut above typical Mexican food—and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and the tequila. A great experience!
Very nice, cozy ambiance. The food was very good and authentic. The service was a bit sporadic but it didn’t feel like we were ignored I think they were just a bit short staffed. Rene, the manager/owner stopped by and we had a very nice conversation with him. He clearly is passionate about his business. I highly recommend.
It was a treat! The food, the cocktails, the service, all together made for a wonderful night out with friends.
Doesn't disappoint. We love the mix of classical favorites and modern takes on dishes available. Great Margaritas!
Our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. Perhaps a little pricey compared with similar restaurants, but worth it! We have never been disappointed. Great Happy Hour menu. The place has been deserted the past few times that we visited. I hope that they stick around.
Excellent food, service and drinks. We will be back!
Pleasant evening of quality tequila, drinks, appetizers, enchiladas, tacos, chicken adobdo and tampiquena. Service was great and ran at our pace. We eat here because the pace is a little slower allowing conversation and time to enjoy each option as they come to the table.
Excellent Mexican fare with unique dishes and a unique take on some more traditional dishes. Servers we’re impeccable, friendly and I loved feeling not rushed. We will definitely visit next time we’re in town.
I've lived in Boulder five years. First time to be here and it's great! We got one of the shared meals and took leftovers home and made breakfast of it. So Delicious!
My two sons and I took my wife to Red Agave for her birthday. The food was great and we had wonderful service.
Wonderful food! Wonderful service! Excellent restaurant!
Very nice; upscale but authentic. Look for deals of the day & happy hour for values.
I don't understand why this restaurant is never crowded - the food is better than all other Mexican restaurants in Boulder. I had shrimp flameiado - the shrimp were perfectly cooked, the sauce was garlicky but not too much so, and the dish was served with mashed potatoes with tasty green chili. My husband had carnitas, which was cooked perfectly and a nice piece of meet. He too had the potatoes as well as corn crema on a stick. The coin margarita was delicious. I recommend this restaurant.
Great service and delicious food.
We went to Red Agave for Mother's Day dinner on a whim and we were pleasantly surprised by the great service of the staff and excellent food. We will definitely be going back!!!
Delicious food and excellent service! We will certainly be going back. Very upscale.
It was all I hoped & read t would be! & GREAT Rellenos!! Service was spectacular!!
Upscale food with good margaritas. Try the house marg: distinctive flavor and deliciously sweet/sour mix. Great service every time. We love the salsa trio and Verdes enchiladas.
We were looking for a quick dinner and decided to go here because all other good restaurants were booked around 6:30. The service was very good but the beer was not real cold
And the food came to our table cold. It was barely warm. We probably will not return.
Good authentic Mexican dishes. Excellent service!!
Loved our meal and drinks. Our server was awesome too. We will definitely be going back again.
The only negatives were that (1) it took awhile for our party to get water refills & it wasn't even a busy night for the restaurant, and (2) our server took every opportunity to try to sell us other menu & drink items. That hard sell tactic really brings down the class of a restaurant!
Great food - very much a "high end" Mexican restaurant. The service was very attentive but the food was slow to arrive at our table - not due to the service staff. I recommend this restaurant.
