Real Food Daily - Pasadena
Since 1993, Real Food Daily in Pasadena offers customers cuisine that is organic, creative and completely plant-based. The staff strives to not only craft amazing dishes, but also to educate patrons about the ingredients used.
Wash down Real Food Daily meals with some freshly squeezed juice. Consider the curry cakes, seaside fries, sea cake or any of the five different salads. The harvest quesadillas at Real Food Daily are a favorite amongst regulars and the jackfruit street tacos are a good example of how the chefs have taken a traditional menu item and outfitted it without animal products.
This location must have hired new employees because I saw new faces and was actually so pleased with my interactions with the staff. The host greeted us and was genuinely welcoming and kind. The staff had very great energy, a sense of humor and made us feel happy to be there. In the past, I was only coming back for my delicious sandwiches but the staff tended to be very dull and almost made me feel like they were doing me a favor or like I was an inconvenience. They had very dry, odd personalities there. Saturday evening was the exact opposite!
I wanted to try some place new to me, and I appreciate vegan food. We were greeted by an excellent and enthusiastic host at the entrance, and he was considerate about finding a comfortable table for our party. The decor was pleasant and clean, and the quiet room allowed for easy conversation. The mac and cheese and roasted cauliflower appetizers were very good. Unfortunately, the food experience declined from there. My friend said the “spicy” ramen noodle bowl was very bland. I chose the lasagna based on prior reviews, and I found it very disappointing - the lasagna noodles were overcooked to the point that their limp texture nearly matched the ricotta filling and the thick bechamel topping, for an overall mouthful of mush. For dessert, I did enjoy their chocolate cake. Overall, the meal was only passably okay and overpriced, so I won’t be going back for more. There are other restaurants in the area that offer more satisfying vegetarian and vegan food.
One of my favorite places! Mushroom pizza, goji berry cacao smoothie, chocolate cake, comfort bow were delicious!
I’ve been here countless times with family or on dates with my husband. The service is always so great. The food is always so delicious. The weekend brunch menu looks so good; we tried the French toast, and we both loved it.
Our first time and I must say we loved it. Entrées and desserts were made with care. The music was chill and groovy. The service was fantastic. We'll be back. Two thumbs up.
We dine at Real Food Daily every Sunday afternoon. Food and service are outstanding.
The food was good, but less than great. This restaurant is very expensive. Not worth the $300 for two people. For the price, I expect better. Not going back. There were numerous bones in my fish.
We were very disappointed, (though warned that the place was too expensive for what it is) the item ordered was scalding hot ( home fries) lacerated and burned my mouth so badly, tha it still not has not healed! The cost was outrageously expensive , and when we asked for the vegan 'burger'($20.00) to be cut in half we were told it could not be done! The waittress was sweet though. AWFUL place.
What a fun vegan restaurant! I treated a friend for his birthday at his recommendation since I live in San Francisco. I loved the many dishes we ordered and shared. Highly recommend dining here. We tried the Not-cho's, Caesar with blue corn croutons and blackened tempeh, Caribbean quesadilla (on the daily menu), and since it was his birthday, we ordered three desserts!!! The chocolate fudge cake with chocolate ice cream, Peanut butter cream pie and the coconut cupcake with strawberry buttercream icing.
I observe a vegan diet, but a vegan restaurant is adventurous for many family and friends. We had the quesadillas, the Reuben sandwich, and the lasanga, a smoothie, ginger lemonade, a lime masa, a pudding, and carrot cake. All was very good, very well prepared, and well presented. The service was competent, attentive but not intrusive. The servings are large for lunch. The prices are not low, but they are not unreasonable.
Mediterranean bowl and the Mexico City tacos were delicious. They had half price wine which is great! Had the chocolate cake for dessert. The cake was really dry but the icing was good. Our servers were wonderful! Overall a great place.
Everything was delicious. Several gluten free choices that didn't feel like you were giving up anything. The wait staff was very thorough in checking ingredients for any possible allergy concerns. I wish there were more Real Food Daily including my hometown of Portland
I like Real Food Daily. Our waiter was pretentious and took long breaks in between coming to see us. The place was EMPTY, so i'm not sure where he went...Overall, enjoyed the food! It's somewhat pricey--$80 for lunch and one lemonade refill...Then our water was refilled with tepid water on a super warm CA day! No ice in the water. Will return, but hopefully with a better server...
My hubbie and I recently introduced RFD to two friends. We all ordered different it's and everyone shared. EVERYTHING was spectacular and nobody felt like they "ordered the wrong thing." RFD - you rock!
I love real food daily! The food is incredible including all of the desserts. The service is always excellent. And the atmosphere is beautiful and cozy and romantic. And it's 100% vegan. Yummm
Everything was fine until we were halfway through our meal. Then they kept eying us , filling water glasses every 3 minutes and trying to take our plates. I felt like asking if we were taking up space.
Absolutely wonderful food and service. The Kung Pao was perfectly spiced and very tasty. Tres Amigos is great.
Outstandingly creative and delicious vegan fare. Locations also in West Hollywood and Santa Monica.
Every dish we tried (our group shared) was great. Some diners were skeptics about how the food could be vegan if not "real." I hope they were impressed. Service was excellent, attentive, friendly. We were at a large table and never felt crowded by other tables. Were were there for a while since it was a birthday and no problem. Some issues with reservation for birthday in that table I was promised was taken. I also went by days earlier about the birthday cake issue and never was told ahead of time that birthday person can pick a cookie/cupcake and have that with a candle at no charge. We debated a special cake but thought $45 was too much.
Always look forward to healthy eating at Real Food Daily. The Charlie Wrap was so fresh and delicious. The sea cake is like a healthy version of a crab cake. Loved it. The Golden Glow with hemp milk was the best smoothie I've ever had. I ended my evening with a slice off pumpkin pie. My taste buds enjoyed every bit of my meal.
We really loved our evening at Real Food. Our daughter is Vegan, not the rest of the family. We took her out and ALL of us enjoyed the food! The owner and waiters of the restaurant were kind and gracious and made it a perfect evening. Thank you Real Food Daily!
Great restaurants such as Real Food Daily make it easier to transition from an all meat diet to an all organic vegetarian diet. My meal was delicious.
Service was excellent. It was not too busy, which was fantastic. Sat right down. The server was polite and very well mannered. Left a nice tip.
Terrific food, great service and great atmosphere. The food exudes freshness and it is truly innovative. I don't thinks there is a vegan restaurant out there with this level of creativity. From the drinks to the desserts, everything spot on. Raw cider!?! say whaaat! delicious.
My server was really attentive, kind and knowledgable.
I brought my mom for a post mother day lunch but I will definitely be bringing the rest of my family for dinner.
It took about 40 minutes to be seated with a reservation and I was treated like it didn't matter that I had one. Other parties with reservations stood around with us, having the same experience. I understand things like this can happen, especially on a holiday like Mother's Day, but there's a way for a business to handle the situation that says, "We're sorry, and we care." In this way, RFD failed. There seemed to be no management around, and the hosts had a poor attitude, were unapologetic, and simply said not to complain to them because they weren't management. Meanwhile, my family had driven over 40 miles to meet me there for Mother's Day because I had talked up RFD. I was disappointed and embarrassed on an occasion that should have felt special.
