Ray's on the River Ratings and Reviews
Ray's gets it right. For a special occasion like Valentine's they pull out all the stops. From the passed complimentary champagne in the lobby for waiting guests, to the wandering saxophone player with mood music, to a 2 tiered/priced prix fixe menu, spectacular evening. Food and service were top notch as well. Hat tip to Brian our server who got everything right. Folded napkins on table departures, silverware exchange between courses, bottomless wine and water, that is how it is done. Thank you Ray's.
I have not eaten at this Rays in a long time. I did, however, eat at the Ray's in Alpharetta a few months ago and was very please - which is what wanted me to come back and try this one on Aker's Mil since I live near it. I can't quite say what was wrong with the Aker's Mill location. Perhaps the menu was different? Service seemed just slightly off relative to the other location. It just was not the same experience for me. All of that being said it was still quite "good". There just does not seem to be congruency between brands / locations.
This was our third time, and as usual the food was great. We had three orders of the tuna appetizer. I would always start a meal with this appetizer. The only problem I had, I haven't had bread for three months. There raisin bread is the great , worth in many ways. For the main meals, we had lamb, scallops, and the lobster on a stick. Again everything was 5 star. I forgot the name of the server, him taking care of us was 5 star. Can't wait till the next time.
First seated in a booth which blew cold air into our faces. Asked to be moved and was moved without a problem. Chair bottoms at new table were sat out, but got accustomed to them. Otherwise, service was great, food was tasty, and two free desserts were brought for the two ladies whose birthdays we were celebrating. Overall, an excellent luncheon.
I took my wife to Ray's for our 23rd anniversary and she was beyond impressed. I had called ahead for a reservation and the lady on the phone was super friendly and helpful. I told her it was our anniversary and asked about flowers, she said they could take care of for a small fee. When we got there they had a table for us overlooking the river and on the table was a dozen roses in a vase and a bunch of little hearts all over the table. Needless to say my wife was amazed. From the hostess to the waiter to the management all we noticed was a team of super friendly, caring people.
For dinner we had a chefs special, it was a platter with Lobster tail, steak, crab patties, shrimp and scallions. Needless to say we had a great meal and we will be returning.
I took my son to Sunday brunch to round out our weekend of his 16th birthday celebration. We had a reservation time of 1:00. We got there about 30 min early but were still seated closer to our reserved time. The atmosphere was very cozy, warm and inviting. The food was delicious! Our service was just okay. Our waiter never really came back to check on us and our drink glasses were not refilled very often. But, other than that, we had a great experience and went away with absolutely no room left in our bellies, ha!
My family and I visited Ray's on the River for Sunday Brunch to celebrate a birthday. My young Sons, thoroughly, enjoyed the food, the view, the staff, and atmosphere! Likewise, my husband loved the brunch, views and experience (it was his first time). Thank you Ray's on the River!
I have been to Rays a number of times and for me the attraction is the ambiance. The service is also excellent. Our server was a very personable man named Pawel. It's a good place to go to impress a client or a date. The food? I had the Shrimp and Grits and my Fiancé the Scallops. The Scallops were huge and tasty. Prepared just right. The Shrimp and Grits weren't nearly as good and nothing to write home about. They were very bland. Value? I guess that depends on your objective. My Fiancé was impressed. I was disappointed I spent $150 including the tip for a non-memorable meal.
Rays NEVER disappoints! They are consistently great. The service is wonderful, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere is beautiful. This time we were in a private room with lake views, and it was calming. Rays is always a ‘go to’ restaurant for a great time!
Always enjoy brunch at Ray’s, even though I come for lunch and dinner. The live music was quite enjoyable and just perfect for conversation. Food is always good. We were there to spend time with my, now adult, godson. He had a super time and that’s all that matters.
The brunch buffet needed more choices for the money. There was no turkey sausage, no salad bar and not many choices at the omelet station. The biscuits and gravy were at the waffles station (odd place). The staff was very courteous and friendly and the crab cakes were very good.
It was my birthday and I wore a fashionable pair of jeans with distressed but no skin showing and could not go to the reserved seating. The lady at the front pointed to the bar area so we could go there instead. We could not find a seat and stood there for about 15 minutes and as we were about to leave a waiter asked us if we would like to seat not too far away from the bar where a reservation sign was displayed on the table. Another couple celebrating their anniversary and sat next to us but they were taken by th waiters to the seats and observed that the wife was also wearing distressed jeans. I guess our skin color did not deserve the same respect. I will NEVER go back there!!!!!
We went to Ray's to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. We had reserved a window seat, but were told there weren't any available. My husband and I ordered the lobster tail and a side dish. The seasonal veggies were not cooked well and cold when my husband got the plate. My mashed potatoes were okay but not hot. Service from Jonathan was good. Our dining experience was okay, but don't think we'll return again.
