Ray's on the River Ratings and Reviews
View the sunset from your table if you arrive when Ray's open at 5pm. Best tables. Nice place for quiet conversation. I reserved through Open Table for our anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised with complimentary champagne and desert! I'm vegetarian and ordered a vegetarian plate with sides and they were delicious!
Rays on the River brunch is the best in Atlanta. We had a group of nine. Faith greeted us upon arrival and showed us to our favorite table by the window. Our server, Khalil, got all of us organized and took our drink orders. The buffet was extensive, breakfast, lunch, seafood, salads and desserts. Everything tasted great. The manager, Jay Halley, stopped by our table to check with us and see if we needed anything. The servers kept the plates cleared and drinks filled. We had a large group and Rays on the River took very good care of us. We look forward to our next visit.
This was our umpteenth visit and we will return. The varied and very good food layout is overwhelming. The location by the river adds to the overall ambience. Cruising through the many and varied stations before choosing the delights for your brunch is a pleasant "foreplay."
Highly recommend an early visit. Once Churches get out Ray's is loaded.
We were seated pretty quickly with our reservation. Service was great. Food was very pricey, but not unexpected. My brother ordered a $42 steak that was mostly fat. He should have sent it back, but didn't want to wait. Saturday is very busy. Overall, Rays is a very nice place to go for a once in a while thing. This occasion was for my mom's 75th birthday...She enjoyed it!
It's a beautiful place for people who are in love, birthdays, anniversaries and etc.It was my first time and I had a ball and the staff was excellent and the restaurant was so clean you can eat off the floor. You have free valet and everybody was so nice and friendly.I recommend everyone to try it.
Food and ambience were great. Service was below average. At a restaurant like this, you would expect impeccable service. We had to flag down our waiter and others just to get more water. My client has a tree but allergy. There were nuts in her side salad. No mention of them in the description.
Great service, great wine, good food. This was a date night for my wife and I. I went into Rays planning to spend $200. The total tab was $166 and that was with a $78 bottle of wine, big entrees, and a shared creme brûlée dessert, which was really tasty. So with the tip we were a bit over $200. I would recommend Rays. We had a table on the window overlooking the river and the ambience was very nice.
The food was excellent! We had terrible service. We started our dinner with soup. It was brought out with no soup spoons. The waiter kept disappearing for long periods of time. So, the manager ended up bringing us spoons for the soup and by this time the soup was lukewarm. We did not receive our bread and butter until after the salad was served. My husband and I both ordered lobster. The waiter brought his hot butter for his lobster about 5 minutes before the entree was served. I asked the waiter could I get butter for my lobster too. He said that he would be right back with my hot butter. Unfortunately, my lobster arrived and I had no butter. The waiter came back with the butter when I was halfway through my meal. The manager never came back to see how our meal and service went when he knew that we did not have soup spoons earlier during the service. This was a very disappointing experience for $150 tab. We left a 15% tip just because. We normally leave 20-25% tip because normally we receive exceptional service when we dine out. We were celebrating my husband birthday. We did not receive top shelf service.
Great food on the Sunday buffet. Great ambiance with the live music. Crowded (too many tables in the space to where it felt like you had to apologize to other patrons to walk to your table) and relatively noisy as a result. Service was poor - waters never refilled, other requests never filled, and bread not brought to the table (I realize it was on the buffet, but when my father-in-law who has a cane asks for it, server should have just gotten a piece from the buffet for him).
Beautiful lakefront setting. The staff was very attentive, professional and made our evening very enjoyable. The food was good, however, I was expecting more food choices. The pricing was fair and the overall atmosphere enjoyable. Kurtis, our server, was excellent and very attentive. I will highly recommend this restaurant in the future.
Ambiance was fantastic. The lighting was a little too dark which made it difficult to see the dinner menu. I ordered the shrimp and grits this time and didn't get much of the grits and the shrimp were a little too chewy this time. I did however enjoy the drinks and bread.
The service was terrible! After our server took our order we didn’t see her for 15mis after someone delivered our food; we needed condiments, napkins etc.. I spoke with the manager because I was tired of trying to flag people down for help! The service only got worst with and attitude to boot.. terrible experience to say the least. The salmon was raw in the middle and the manager never came back to check to see if anything got better. #smh
I was disappointed for the 1st time ever. I have never been disappointed before at Rays. The food was cut short. Normally, the salmon (Oscar) is a very nice piece and the asparagus is usually 3.
However, I received a very small piece of salmon. Skimpy pathetic, and only ONE asparagus! 😡
The waitress NEVER asked did we want drinks.
The blue cheese chips appitizer was pathetic! It usually had beautiful cherry tomatoes with beautiful big chunks of blue cheese and other toppings. It was sorry!!!!!
I hate my normal waiter was off. 😬
Anyhow, I do not plan on going to Rays on the River any time soon. 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽
I visited this location on my birthday and it was my first time every at this restaurant However upon even arriving while waiting at the hostess area I was not properly greeted by the host before she informed me that in order to dine in their restaurant I would need to have on a different top that wasn't showing any skin.
I'am aware that I've gained a few pounds lately and I was trying to pull my blouse down as much as I could it was barely showing my stomach area but I just placed my jacket on so that we could be seated. I asked the young lady if this was acceptable and she said yes.
Once we were seated the young lady walked by the table several times to ensure that I still had my jacket on during my visit this made me feel so uncomfortable not to mention this was my birthday. My party ended up letting the waiter know that it was my birthday and they just brought out a free mousse cake with a candle lit.
We had to wait an extremely long while before placing our actual order however we did place the order for an appetizer fairly fast. I'm not sure if this is how the level of service is given here on a normal but as for me I have had much better experiences and different restaurants and do not plan on returning to this restaurant ever again.
we have been going to Rays on the River for over 30 years, and decided to take our daughter and Son-in-Law there for their 6th anniversary.
What an amazing meal from the appetizer to the dessert all was excellent including the service.
Having Flowers and decorations on the table was an awesome touch.
Rays always exceeds expectations - great evening.
Bartenders were great and that experience was excellent. Moving to the table wasn’t great. Service was ok. At one point I had my dinner, 2 knives and no fork. Neighboring tables taking flash pictures from both directions and no one other than me asking them to stop. I expected based on the menu that the steak was ala carte so ordered a vegetable side but food came with mashed potato and onion ring. Would have ordered different had I known and would not have ordered the additional side. Food was ok, not great and overpriced in my opinion for what was served.
We are frequent guests and as always the food was exceptional. We were seated immediately at a table with a view of the river. Our server was Brendan and he was very attentive without being intrusive. Very impressed with the service he provided! Our tea glasses were kept filled, we didn’t have to ask for the bread basket, and when my husband dropped his fork Brendan was there immediately with a clean one even though I didn’t think he even saw it hit the floor. Excellent job! We will request to be seated in his area next visit.
