Ray's in the City Ratings and Reviews
I am a huge fan of Rays Killer Creek and Rays at the River. I was highly disappointed when we walked in expecting amazing and food. The restaurant looked dirty. We were seated in front of a fire exit. Our server was rude and did not smile even once! The food was nothing to write home about. The worse part is I recommended the restaurant to a client who was in town with family! Will never return!!
My wife and I had been looking forward to eating at Rays in the City. Had a nice martini then ordered steak and lobster. All was good until we got our food with an obvious 5 inch hair in the potatoes. Manager told us they didn't have any blonde staff. We hadn't even touched anything yet. Instant loss of appetite and romance. Wish they had seen it first. Guess we find another place to look forward to. Check the plates please.
It took over ten minutes for us to be greeted by our waiter but at least he was somewhat attentive and friendly. Our drinks and appetizers were the highlight of our meal. The raw oysters and oysters Rockefeller were excellent. Our main entrees were a big let down. We had the rib eye and grouper for our entree. The grouper was fair but the lobster risotto had a pungent smell and had to be sent back. My ribeye was cooked properly but the flavor was disappointing and it was extremely tough. I did not send the steak back because I was extremely hungry but I really should have let our waiter know. I just did not want to put a damper on our evening. Needless to say, we were very disappointed since we heard good things about the food and service at Ray’s. In addition to issues with the food and service the ladies restroom was a mess. My wife had to inform the hostess that the restroom really needed attention. Maybe next time we will try another location but I doubt if we will return here.
Me and the wife had the Valentine's dinner tonight at Rays. It. Was. Amazing! 4 courses of deliciously prepared greatness. I had the calamari, seafood gumbo, 22 oz prime rib and the praline basket. Wife had the calamari, ceasar salad, 20 oz new york strip, and chocolate ganash cake. We normally arent huge eaters but we ate almost every bite. Hats of to the chef! And our waiter Bobby!
Rays always turns out good service and cuisine. I think it is very pricey, but probably worth it as well. I had the Volcano sushi roll....was just average and I had the Salmon Oscar with sauce on the side...that was above average. I sat at the bar and watched the olympics....bar tender Josh was very good. Cheapest glass of wine was $11.00....I thought that was over priced as well for the selections....many of those selections would normally be 8.50-9.50 in other locations.
Overall...can't go wrong here if you have a few extra dollars to spend and want a quality experience.
Had a reservation and was seated in back y kitchen even though there were other tables. Kept getting hit y servers. Had a client with us so was not a positive experience. We were also sat next to a large, loud group so we could not have a conversation. Very disappointing as we bring clients here every time we are in town. In addition. We were never offered bread, nor refills on tea.
One of our kids gave my wife and I a Christmas gift card for Rays in the City to accompany a visit to the Georgia Aquarium. Traveling from out of state, we arrived early and were allowed to begin before our reservation time. We both ordered and loved our seafood platter. Scallop and crab cakes were especially delicious. Praline basket and massive slice of key lime pie for desserts set us up to wander down the hill toward the aquarium with quite happy tummies!
We celebrated a birthday with good friends and could not have asked for a better experience. Our waiter, Harrison, was charming, funny and attentive. .It was difficult to make a menu selection because everything sounded so delicious. Our meals were outstanding! We had a room to ourselves and enjoyed a wonderful evening. I would highly recommend Ray’s and will certainly dine here again.
