Ray's in the City Ratings and Reviews
It took over ten minutes for us to be greeted by our waiter but at least he was somewhat attentive and friendly. Our drinks and appetizers were the highlight of our meal. The raw oysters and oysters Rockefeller were excellent. Our main entrees were a big let down. We had the rib eye and grouper for our entree. The grouper was fair but the lobster risotto had a pungent smell and had to be sent back. My ribeye was cooked properly but the flavor was disappointing and it was extremely tough. I did not send the steak back because I was extremely hungry but I really should have let our waiter know. I just did not want to put a damper on our evening. Needless to say, we were very disappointed since we heard good things about the food and service at Ray’s. In addition to issues with the food and service the ladies restroom was a mess. My wife had to inform the hostess that the restroom really needed attention. Maybe next time we will try another location but I doubt if we will return here.
Me and the wife had the Valentine's dinner tonight at Rays. It. Was. Amazing! 4 courses of deliciously prepared greatness. I had the calamari, seafood gumbo, 22 oz prime rib and the praline basket. Wife had the calamari, ceasar salad, 20 oz new york strip, and chocolate ganash cake. We normally arent huge eaters but we ate almost every bite. Hats of to the chef! And our waiter Bobby!
Rays always turns out good service and cuisine. I think it is very pricey, but probably worth it as well. I had the Volcano sushi roll....was just average and I had the Salmon Oscar with sauce on the side...that was above average. I sat at the bar and watched the olympics....bar tender Josh was very good. Cheapest glass of wine was $11.00....I thought that was over priced as well for the selections....many of those selections would normally be 8.50-9.50 in other locations.
Overall...can't go wrong here if you have a few extra dollars to spend and want a quality experience.
Had a reservation and was seated in back y kitchen even though there were other tables. Kept getting hit y servers. Had a client with us so was not a positive experience. We were also sat next to a large, loud group so we could not have a conversation. Very disappointing as we bring clients here every time we are in town. In addition. We were never offered bread, nor refills on tea.
One of our kids gave my wife and I a Christmas gift card for Rays in the City to accompany a visit to the Georgia Aquarium. Traveling from out of state, we arrived early and were allowed to begin before our reservation time. We both ordered and loved our seafood platter. Scallop and crab cakes were especially delicious. Praline basket and massive slice of key lime pie for desserts set us up to wander down the hill toward the aquarium with quite happy tummies!
We celebrated a birthday with good friends and could not have asked for a better experience. Our waiter, Harrison, was charming, funny and attentive. .It was difficult to make a menu selection because everything sounded so delicious. Our meals were outstanding! We had a room to ourselves and enjoyed a wonderful evening. I would highly recommend Ray’s and will certainly dine here again.
Service was non-existent for the first 15 minutes until somebody finally noticed us and took our drink and appetizer order. Very apologetic. Server finally came around, also very apologetic. To their credit, they comped our appetizer and a round of drinks to make up for the delays, which we were not expecting. Nice of them to acknowledge it and do something nice for us. The food was wonderful! No complaints there! Can’t imagine a tastier meal than the ones we both enjoyed.
Rays is a well know and established place. The service was excellent. Our primary server J was knowledgeable and attentive. There was also another server who stepped in and refilled drinks and inquired if we in need of anything.
The food was excellent. It's a pricy menu. Between the food quality, which was prepared and cooked with excellence and the service, it was worth it.
I would recommend Rays in the City
We were in town for our daughters dance competition at the nearby Marriott. Disappointed in the quality of the food for the high price. My husbands steak was tough. Fish was tough as well. When entering building we were greeted with a very strong fish odor.
Overall, I really enjoyed my dining experience at Ray’s in the City.
My party ordered the Cosmopolitan, broccoli cheese soup, calamari, burger slider, bbq shrimp, blackened seafood platter, angel hair pasta, cauliflower au gratin, Brussels sprouts, lobster risotto, creamed spinach, praline dessert, and key lime pie.
Destiny was our waitress and Troy was our dessert waiter. Both were super friendly and on top of their game. Destiny anticipated our questions like she knew us. The manager, Chris, came to our table early on and interacted like he was family.
The food was good and the portions were generous. I would recommend the seafood platter, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts. My friend thought the spinach could be more flavorful. I would definitely pass on the key lime pie....I sent mine back. And I looove key lime pie. My friend had the praline dessert at Troy’s suggestion and I wish I had listened. The praline cup is a real treat and does something special to the vanilla ice cream.
My friend’s soup came out without her toast. When the toast was ready, Chris brought it out with a fresh, hot bowl of soup without prompting. That’s service!
I only rated 4 stars because the Happy Hour menus were not available. Destiny knew the menu but of course we “challenged” her recollection based on what was available in Yelp. She explained that the information was outdated. This little hiccup got our evening off to a little rough start. But Destiny, Troy, and Chris made up for it ten times over.
I ate at STK a few weeks ago because people had been raving about it. The food and service at Ray’s far exceed that other place.
Parking is inconvenient. (Valet is $20/cash only)
We waited for more than an hour to have our foods.
My steak was cooked too much but cannot complain because it will take so long to get corrected.
I love Ray's on the River, but I was so disappointed with Ray's in the City.
Service was OKAY. But I don't recommend to my friends and family.
