Ray's in the City Ratings and Reviews
The waitress was pleasant and helpful but overall the service was not great. We were handed our starters before we had finished our cocktails and then the main course was brought while were finishing the starter. All seemed very much in a rush. Prices are very high for the quality of food and service, Overall quite disappointing having read good reviews.
Great dinner the night before the SEC Championship. Excellent seafood in the middle of downtown Atlanta! Enjoyed the ambiance and live jazz music playing in the background. It really set the mood for a romantic evening. The service was impeccable as well. The waiter had us laughing all night and made excellent menu recommendations.
First visit to Ray’s ln the City, and we were very pleased. Selected the grouper feature of the day and my wife had lobster and vegetables of the day. We enjoyed them both. I would like to commend our waiter, Jared. He made a very nice meal a special occasion. He was attentive and most pleasant. It’s always great to find staff members who bring a big smile and banter as well as knowledge of the menu selections and options. He certainly had it all together.
The food was phenomenal. The crabcakes and calamari we have to come back for!!!! The Chilean bass was very good, but get it blackend. The stuff lobster with crab meat was out of this world. The Dessert was delectable and a dish to return for. We were very pleased with our visit to Rays in the City. The staff was very friendly and our reservation was with issue.
We found this restaurant on Open Table and it was a short walk from our hotel. The seafood platter was EXCELLENT! The seafood was very fresh. The shrimp and scallops were very flavorful. The lobster tail was small but tender and juicy even without dipping it into melted butter. The bread was very fresh. Salads were great with a nice amount of light dressing. We will go there again the next time we are in Atlanta. A great find!
We attended Thanksgiving buffet, and it did not meet expectations for a holiday meal at that price point. The buffet space was cramped and right by the reception area, so people had to walk through the waiting crowd with their plates of food. We sat for 10 minutes before I finally asked whether we had a server. Much of the food was obviously reheated, and some of it was still quite frozen. The cheese and fruit and bread displays were similar to grocery store platters. Some of the hot food selections were tasty, but on the whole it was not a memorable holiday meal.
Got to request for water constantly, waiter feels not obligated to when asked. Does not check on customer got to constantly asked to pick up plates and refill water. Food is not very appealing for the price especially thanksgiving meal. porl loin, turkey are so dry, crabs are tastelss, salmon abnormal taste, corn casserole is brown... . Desert looks like from Costco or Sam. I would definitely not do it every again.
Ray’s in the City has a nice atmosphere! It was a recommended restaurant, however Thanksgiving may not have been the best time to try a new restaurant!
I’m not a fan of buffet style, but for the holiday this is what Ray’s was offering. The food was good, but too cold. The desserts were outstanding.
I will definitely return for dinner off the regular menu and the heat live music!
We loved the service. Our server was very engaging and provided prompt service and excellent suggestions. The wife had stuffed crab and I had the fillet mignon. Both were amazing. The music was old school rock and blues, not too loud, just right for an old guy like me! We will be sure to return here the next time we are in Atlanta.
Awesome food. Great entertainment. Only thing I can say is that we were seated by the music/speaker and we couldn’t hear one another. The waiter also chose to whisper talk instead of speaking up so we could hear the specials and such. Our bar drinks took almost 30 mins to get. Our app came out 15 mins before our actual drinks did. Everything else was great!
Food was what you'd expect at this price point. Steak was very good. The servers were very nice but they missed a few things that you'd really expect staff in a restaurant of this caliber to be cognizant of (missing utensils, all the drinks on the table empty for a really long time, etc.).
Our server seemed irritated to have to serve us. He didn't tell us about any of the specials. Later, we watched as a cheerful server walked his table through the specials and acted very accommodating. The food was mediocre. The tuna nigiri was mealy and the yellowtail stringy. Would not visit again.
Arrived at reservation time....was charged $34. for valet parking...paid in order to be on time for rez, but had to wait 15 minutes to be seated anyway, then was seated at a crappy table with waiter traffic buzzing all over, was moved to a more desirable table, but the waiter there was so horrible that a different waiter finally noticed we weren't being served and took over our table. He was great, and the lobster cobb salad was good, but the salmon oscar came slow and was charred on the edges, and not cooked enough in the middle...all and all , I want my $180. back. This clearly ain't Rays on the River!
