Ray's in the City
Book your next event with us
We had 8:15 reservations and were finally seated at 8:35. The waitress was excellent and the food above average. It was extremely noisy which made conversation difficult (even for our small party of four). Desserts were exceptional. The butter cake and red velvet are some of the best I've had.
Food was wonderful but the service was, unexpectedly, not up to their usual standards. We love Rays but they were not on their game tonight. Chalking it up to being during market. Will be back though.
This was our third time here this week and today was the busiest we have seen. We had to wait for our reservation but the service, smiles and food made up for it.
The quality and taste at Ray’s is never a disappointment. Bloody Mary’s from the bar we’re perfectly spicy and the breads a nice pre meal snack. Our waiter was not having the best night. Service was slow and inattentive which is not typical for this establishment. I’ll be back to satisfy my tastebuds.
I have eaten at Ray's in the City once a year for the last few years and this year the service and food were just not the same! They also dropped Sushi from the Menu which was my favorite thing!
Exceptional service and the meal is always outstanding
I have been going to Ray's for years. Usually during the gift and Rug Market at the America's Mart. This time was a little crazy and very busy, although I have seen worse. Our waiter was a real pro and did an excellent job of pointing out specials, good deals and plenty of options. Anytime you can buy a premium wine for just slightly over retail in a busy popular restaurant, it's a win. Ray's had several, usually very expensive wines for just slightly more than a wine store, instead of the usual double or triple retail. There was a slight problem with a sticky wine glass that the manager took care of very quickly. The service was fabulous the food was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The slight mishap was cleared up so quickly, I almost didn't notice.
The lunch steak salad was phenomenal. My biz colleague had the glazed salmon with kale and quinoa. All delicious. Only bad thing if there is a conference there is NO parking under $20. Won’t make that mistake again.
The prices are extremely high. The person who brought the food to the tables didn’t know his table numbers, and repeatedly tried to bring us other peoples’ food. When I asked the price of the special ($47) the server made a face. The customer next to us had to borrow our salt and pepper, because he didn’t have any. I would expect more from a restaurant with menu items in their range.
Service was awesome and it seemed like the servers worked in groups to create a really attentive service. Super friendly and down to earth servers. The food was amazing and didn’t need anything added for flavor. Outstanding chefs! We always enjoy dining with this restaurant after a long, long, day at Atlanta Market!
Waiter was a little slow getting to our table but was spot on after that. Blackened seafood platter was awesome!!
Eat here every time I’m in town.
Love the food and the service
We always come to Rays when we are here for market every year (at least twice each time!) It’s always great food and great service.
Very limited menu except for seafood. No non seafood appetizers. Wanted the Ahi tuna but told it was not available even though we were in the first seating if the night. Settled for honey glazed salmon that had no honey glaze. Wife enjoyed her seafood platter although we had to have another substitution.
My Birthday celebration was wonderful, all because of our experience at Ray’s in the City. Our server was Troy, who was very helpful with the menu, courteous, and attentive.
Food and service we're excellent. They messed up our reservation and sat us in the bar. We missed on what could have been a great overall experience.
Overpriced and below average shrimp cocktail
One of my favorite places but they add to the bill often. Be careful when you order an appetizer as you are often billed as an entree and can add up fast. Also, they charge card at table and tips are preloaded starting at 20% so if you want to modify, server is standing right there over your shoulder while you change tip.
The food and service were great. Our waitress Ayesha helped us pair our dinner with our wine and even gave us a few samples to ensure we liked it. She surprised my friend with a beautiful and delicious birthday dessert plate. She provided excellent service and ensured we enjoyed our experience.
Loved going to Rays! The Martini was fabulous and our server, Danielle, didn't miss a beat even though we were a huge group. Would definitely go back!
I visit Ray's in the City every trip to Atlanta because the food is wonderful, the service is great, the atmosphere is quiet (sometimes there is a live piano player - super) and because I am here in downtown ATL for business, the location is convenient. I have been stopping here 2x/yr for several years and look forward to every visit.
Truly outstanding dinner. I had the halibut and hubs had filet. Oysters as an appetizer. Every thing was phenomenal and we will be back. Only complaint is we had a 530 reservation and arrived at 5:15 and still were not seated until 5:45. Other 5:30 reservation folks came in after us and were seated as soon as they checked in.
Had a reservation and still had to wait 10 or 15 minutes to be seated. There were many seats available. This is a pet peeve of mine and defeats a reservation. Server was exceptional — best part of the experience. Craft Cocktails were good, food was adequate but not exceptional. Seafood tower was good, 8oz filet was good, but 12oz filet was tough. I doubt I will go back. It was good but for the price point I would expect better.
Our meal was delicious! Started with a pineapple margarita which was amazing! Had the goat cheese pimento balls with pepper jelly for appetizer and they were fabulous! We had the Horseradish crusted black grouper and honey roasted salmon for entree’s which were both very good. We did have to sent the salmon back to be cooked a little more! Dessert was the macadamia coconut crusted key lime pie and it also did not disappoint! Very good meal!
Our server, Daniellel was awesome! Food was great too!
The food was terrific and the service too! Variety of menu options along with a wide selection of alcohol. It appears the weekend offers live music...more for older folk than young. Nevertheless it was still good!
Mitun did an excellent job. The calamari was amazing and the delmonicon and Kansas City Strip were the best steaks ive ever had.
The service was very good although they were not very busy the Sunday we dined. Everyone enjoyed their meal which was tasty and well prepared and presented.
Great dinner for my wife and I. The shrimp appetizer was really neat with the dry ice poured in a cup to have vapor flow over the dish. The Cowboy Ribeye tasted great. At 22 oz my wife and I shared it. The yukon mashed potatoes were a great choice for a side. The Creme Brûlée was an awesome dessert choice! We will be back soon !!
Service was not good. Our main courses came out 5 minutes after we got our appetizers. They put them down on the side while we finished our first course. Once we finished appetizers no one cleared the plates. We had to move the plates away then put our main course plates in front of us so we could eat. I ordered a bottle of wine. Usually the waiter checks and refills the glass. He never did. Other than the first tasting pour, I poured everything.
We waited a long long time for the bill. We paid using your electronic system. I acknowledged I wanted a printed receipt. It said your waiter will bring the receipt. After waiting 20 minutes I gave up and left.
Dinner should not be frustrating.
Great service impeccable food
As always, we enjoy Rays in The City
We enjoy the restaurant on a weekly basis. Shrimp and grits is great. Salmon is excellent too
It was pricey but the food it worth it. The steak and lobster was amazing and the three cheese Mac and cheese was delicious. definitely will be going back!!
This is not a 4 star establishment.
Went out for NYE and had a great time
Food was fabulous. Our server was terrible. Spoken no more than 10 words our whole experience. Other servers around us were energetic and describing meals, drinks and desserts. Ours said, “They’re all good” - really put a damper on the night....as nice diners usually include amazing service as well as delicious food.
Went here for NYE to celebrate a birthday and everything was terrible. The food was terrible. The service was horrible. At one point, we sat at our table for 30 minutes without the waitress checking on us. The restaurant was obviously not prepared for NYE. The restaurant ran out of desserts on the prix fixe menu. I will not be going back here for any reason. I was hugely disappointed.
Had a wonderful meal on New Years Eve. Food was delicious and service was great. Definitely will be back!!
We have eaten at Ray's on the river multiple times, so my expectations were high. Definitely not Ray's on the river. Dining was much more laid back, attire was not business casual, people were wearing hoodies and jeans. This was 7pm on NYE, which I thought would be stricter, oh well. The drink I ordered was something different when it was delivered to me. I got a different salad and my husband recieved one as well, even though he did not order one. The water and bread service arrived after our drinks, no biggie, just not used to it. The food came so close together that our table was full with 3 salads, our appetizer, and bread. I almost told him to hold our main entree until later. Food was excellent though. I would return, just under different circumstances.
