Very relaxing, tasty food and great service
Took 40 minutes to get a cheese plate appetizer and the meatballs we ordered were over cooked / burned on outside. My wife received her soup on time along with bread and drinks, the waiter did the best he could but said there were kitchen issues which ultimately cut our experience short and we opted not to have dinner entrees. $100 for what we did get seemed expensive.
High prices, little selection and terrible service have to be balanced with location adjacent to LACMA is a lovely venue. I waits over a half hour for an order of two salads and one order of chicken with dressing dressing on the side. After having to go to the kitchen to ask what happened to order we were brought two orders of chicken and one salad. you guessed it, dressing was on the salad. After finally getting the ordered straight we were charged for extra unordered chicken! On a positive note, weather was beautiful so sitting outside was a pleasure. Bill was adjusted! Probably best to order pizza!
Great food and atmosphere! I felt very bad for the wait staff as they were short a lot of help. All in all, we had a wonderful time there.
Excellent place for a casual lunch after a stroll through the galleries at LACMA.
It took almost an hour and a half from the time we arrived WITH RESERVATION for food to be served. (We were seated within 10 minutes.). We inquired about food delay multiple times and were repeatedly told food would be out soon. After an hour, we were told there was lobster preparation delay. Had we been told that earlier, we could have easily ordered something else. This was VERY unfortunate!
Our visit was lunch in conjunction with a museum visit.
We've eaten here a number of times in the past, so knew what to expect.
The menu is a bit limited, but that makes sense since the restaurant is not large.
I'm always able to find something of interest to order.
I do recommend it.
Described above, all good
The bianca pizza was a little disappointing. Used to be our favorite. :-( We'll keep coming back though.
Lovely service, great food, and so very good to be back! Thank you!
Noise level rating only because museum was constructing for gala next night.
The bread pudding is wonderful!
Be sure to leave room for it.
Good service and good food
Outdoor dining only; on cool evenings get close to a heater. Service was excellent. Food was good, not great.
I had a great time after an evening at LACMA. Jazz at LACMA was happening, which gave a wonderful ambience for a solo dinner. The California Ranch Water is also a cocktail hybrid.
They have nailed safety protocols and outdoor dining. The tables are far apart.
Noise level is very low. The food is consistently tasty and the ambiance is always lovely.
My friend would like more vegan choices
I had the best service ever! After visiting the museum exhibitions, it was a relaxing and pleasant experience at the outdoor seating dinner. Jazz at LACMA was happening and it was great! I will definitely go back to wine and dine there.
Jazz at Lacma
My food was fine, my wife's chicken was dry. Service was sporadic and slow when it happened. This was early so it wasn't a full house. Overall we like Ray's but the service was well below par last night.
Perfect spot to listen to Jazz night at LACMA when tickets are sold out. Quintessential Los Angeles balmy evening to enjoy cocktails and meal alfresco!
Service is soooooo slow, but we were in no hurry so it was not a huge deal, but it was a bit annoying waiting 15 minutes for our drink order to be taken and another 15 minutes to receive it. 4 drinks, dinner for two with tip = $180.00. We only go to Ray and Stark's during the summer during LACMA Jazz nights. You can hear the music perfectly while you talk and dine, you just can't really see the musicians.
We love Ray and Starks, such a wonderful place to sit and relax in between enjoying the exhibits at LACMA and now the Academy Museum. The food is always great. We are hoping they bring back their pizzas as they were delicious and the perfect companion to a nice glass of wine. The food we had from the current menu was also delicious and the service, as always, is consistently friendly and appropriately attentive. We are so happy that it is a survivor of all the construction happening at LACMA!
Cheese plate, olives, cauliflower soup, pasta, tea and coffee. Cheese plate was the best, everything else good, but nothing to write home about. Espresso was not great.
We ordered 4 different meals (spaghetti, steak, chopped salad, chicken), none very good & way overpriced for what we got. Also ordered the cheeseboard, which turned out to be our favorite thing.
No ambiance when dining outside & no one adhered to the dress code. Why have it?
However, our waitstaff was fabulous.
Always happy at Rays. Only thing I wish they didnt change the steak frites…needs the Chimichurri back Asap…and PIZZA. What happened to the pizza.
No way. Not worth it.
We had a great time last night. Our server was EXCELLENT!
Always a great time! Extra fun with the Friday jazz crowd.
Ray's and Stark Bar is a perfect food option in the middle of the LACMA campus. We were headed to Peterson Autot=motive Museum across the street and the whole experience was uplifting.
beautiful outdoor setting with very good food and very attentive and welcoming staff.
Perfect for jazz at LACMA.
Great place to go after an exhibit at LACMA. The poor waitress was so swamped. I felt so bad for her. Shame on management for not having adequate staff on a very busy night. Makes me second guess about going again.
There were no lights outside. They clearly wanted us to leave
The pizza was delicious
Our server was very rude. He shamed us for inquiring if there was non-bottled water which cost 8.50. He did not say thank you. It was very evident that he is not happy. Other staff were fine except bartender who angrily delivered cold and bitter espresso. Yes it is a museum restaurant, so perhaps should not expect too much, but the host and the busser were both amicable.
Didn’t expect to be wowed, but happily surprised! I would eat at here even if I wasn’t heading to LACMA. Meatballs were incredible!!!
Food was not very tasty. Bread Pudding was the worst ever tasted. Thankfully they took it off the bill. Server wasn't very attentive.
Great setting and service, but the menu is limited, fancy and very expensive for lunch and the food was OK, not great. Still, the ambience was very nice. Not sure I would return for dining, but maybe for cocktails.
The food was great but the service was too slow, especially with two young children waiting for their meals. The waitress suggested ice cream for dessert, which of course the kids wanted and then it took at least 10-15 minutes for it to arrive- way too long on kid-time.
