They have nailed safety protocols and outdoor dining. The tables are far apart.
Noise level is very low. The food is consistently tasty and the ambiance is always lovely.
My friend would like more vegan choices
I had the best service ever! After visiting the museum exhibitions, it was a relaxing and pleasant experience at the outdoor seating dinner. Jazz at LACMA was happening and it was great! I will definitely go back to wine and dine there.
Jazz at Lacma
My food was fine, my wife's chicken was dry. Service was sporadic and slow when it happened. This was early so it wasn't a full house. Overall we like Ray's but the service was well below par last night.
Perfect spot to listen to Jazz night at LACMA when tickets are sold out. Quintessential Los Angeles balmy evening to enjoy cocktails and meal alfresco!
Service is soooooo slow, but we were in no hurry so it was not a huge deal, but it was a bit annoying waiting 15 minutes for our drink order to be taken and another 15 minutes to receive it. 4 drinks, dinner for two with tip = $180.00. We only go to Ray and Stark's during the summer during LACMA Jazz nights. You can hear the music perfectly while you talk and dine, you just can't really see the musicians.
We love Ray and Starks, such a wonderful place to sit and relax in between enjoying the exhibits at LACMA and now the Academy Museum. The food is always great. We are hoping they bring back their pizzas as they were delicious and the perfect companion to a nice glass of wine. The food we had from the current menu was also delicious and the service, as always, is consistently friendly and appropriately attentive. We are so happy that it is a survivor of all the construction happening at LACMA!
Cheese plate, olives, cauliflower soup, pasta, tea and coffee. Cheese plate was the best, everything else good, but nothing to write home about. Espresso was not great.
We ordered 4 different meals (spaghetti, steak, chopped salad, chicken), none very good & way overpriced for what we got. Also ordered the cheeseboard, which turned out to be our favorite thing.
No ambiance when dining outside & no one adhered to the dress code. Why have it?
However, our waitstaff was fabulous.
Always happy at Rays. Only thing I wish they didnt change the steak frites…needs the Chimichurri back Asap…and PIZZA. What happened to the pizza.
No way. Not worth it.
We had a great time last night. Our server was EXCELLENT!
Always a great time! Extra fun with the Friday jazz crowd.
Ray's and Stark Bar is a perfect food option in the middle of the LACMA campus. We were headed to Peterson Autot=motive Museum across the street and the whole experience was uplifting.
beautiful outdoor setting with very good food and very attentive and welcoming staff.
Perfect for jazz at LACMA.
Great place to go after an exhibit at LACMA. The poor waitress was so swamped. I felt so bad for her. Shame on management for not having adequate staff on a very busy night. Makes me second guess about going again.
There were no lights outside. They clearly wanted us to leave
The pizza was delicious
Our server was very rude. He shamed us for inquiring if there was non-bottled water which cost 8.50. He did not say thank you. It was very evident that he is not happy. Other staff were fine except bartender who angrily delivered cold and bitter espresso. Yes it is a museum restaurant, so perhaps should not expect too much, but the host and the busser were both amicable.
Didn’t expect to be wowed, but happily surprised! I would eat at here even if I wasn’t heading to LACMA. Meatballs were incredible!!!
Great setting and service, but the menu is limited, fancy and very expensive for lunch and the food was OK, not great. Still, the ambience was very nice. Not sure I would return for dining, but maybe for cocktails.
Food was not very tasty. Bread Pudding was the worst ever tasted. Thankfully they took it off the bill. Server wasn't very attentive.
The food was great but the service was too slow, especially with two young children waiting for their meals. The waitress suggested ice cream for dessert, which of course the kids wanted and then it took at least 10-15 minutes for it to arrive- way too long on kid-time.
Service was horrible and my dish was dirty...they replaced it but it was disgusting.
The food was on the pricier side but they weren't anything too special. We ordered a medium well steak and fries, in addition to others, and the steak came out bone dry. Although the waiter was quick to return with a properly cooked plate, it was disappointing to see this mistake.
Service took a long time, 20 minutes before our table was checked on. Drinks came about 40 minutes after we were sat, and a visit that should’ve taken 45 minutes stretched into an hour and a half. Museum still took our tickets even though we were late, they seemed used to it once we said that the restaurant took a while.
Our salads were lightly and perfectly dressed.... very nice.
This used to be one of our favorite spots for lunch in LA. This time the service was inattentive, the food was very slow coming out and the overall sense was that things had gone downhill fast. Hopefully, this is temporary and it will get back to its previous form in the near future.
Food is delicious and it's nice to have a quality place to dine on the LACMA campus.
Our server, Natalia was amazing. She was friendly, quick, and helpful. The ambiance was great for the occasion. My niece had the spaghetti and she LOVED it. The special, which was a lobster salad was delicious. We didn’t enjoy the cheese as much, but our overall experience made up for it.
Pleasant anniversary museum date and great dinner
Table wobbled and we tried to get it fixed but they could not. When the sun came on us, it would have been nice to have an umbrella. Asked for water with lemon and ice, got the jar of water, had to ask for ice. Never got the lemon. Food was very good- had chopped salad and Italian meatballs.
Was a bit pricey but not unusually so for LA.
It’s always a great dining experience at Ray’s and Stark Bar. Good food and good times!
It is always lovely to come to the Museum, see the beautiful reinstalled Modern Galleries and then have a delicious lunch!
Been to the bar side many times pre pandemic. Always just ok. Today our waiter was great and our food (cheese board and meatballs) were so good.
The pizza here is delicious, especially the Bianca and the Margarita pizza. I've once had the most delicious carrot and ginger soup, but it was not offered on the day I visited. There also used to be a barrata salad and bread on the menu, whish was exquisite. All in all a pleasant experience. The cocktail menu could do for a fresh revamp, while the sangria is a pleasantly consistent.
Good service and ambiance, but the portions were shockingly small. My daughter’s pizza was the thinnest I’d ever seen. All in all though, it was a positive experience.
Nice ambiance, but the portion size to value is weak and the chicken added to the salad tasted weird/old. My lemonade was not fresh- tasted like a mix. I was disappointed because I had fond memories from the past and the setting is pleasant.
