This used to be one of our favorite spots for lunch in LA. This time the service was inattentive, the food was very slow coming out and the overall sense was that things had gone downhill fast. Hopefully, this is temporary and it will get back to its previous form in the near future.
Food is delicious and it's nice to have a quality place to dine on the LACMA campus.
Our server, Natalia was amazing. She was friendly, quick, and helpful. The ambiance was great for the occasion. My niece had the spaghetti and she LOVED it. The special, which was a lobster salad was delicious. We didn’t enjoy the cheese as much, but our overall experience made up for it.
Pleasant anniversary museum date and great dinner
Table wobbled and we tried to get it fixed but they could not. When the sun came on us, it would have been nice to have an umbrella. Asked for water with lemon and ice, got the jar of water, had to ask for ice. Never got the lemon. Food was very good- had chopped salad and Italian meatballs.
Was a bit pricey but not unusually so for LA.
It’s always a great dining experience at Ray’s and Stark Bar. Good food and good times!
It is always lovely to come to the Museum, see the beautiful reinstalled Modern Galleries and then have a delicious lunch!
Been to the bar side many times pre pandemic. Always just ok. Today our waiter was great and our food (cheese board and meatballs) were so good.
Good service and ambiance, but the portions were shockingly small. My daughter’s pizza was the thinnest I’d ever seen. All in all though, it was a positive experience.
Nice ambiance, but the portion size to value is weak and the chicken added to the salad tasted weird/old. My lemonade was not fresh- tasted like a mix. I was disappointed because I had fond memories from the past and the setting is pleasant.
LACMA has a great good option
THis restaurant is on the grounds of LACMA and serves California cuisine.
It's great that LACMA has reopened and Ray's is a convenient place for a bite and drink while digesting the art just viewed.
It was nice to be back at Ray's... always an enjoyable meal.. and had a wonderful salad with a full lobster ....yum yum
Brunch before a visit to LACMA to see the new modernist installation.
The servers were very nice and courteous. However, we had to wait for some time to receive our food orders. I even noticed that another table who was seated after us received their food orders first. We ordered 2 entrees and we had to wait more than 30 minutes to finally eat. The food quality itself was pretty good: the spaghetti was a good portion and the pasta was cooked very well. The steak my sister ordered was cooked as she liked, medium rare. Overall, for the price of the food, it wasn't all that great and isn't something we'd try again.
Our waiter was incredible, the maitre d was so friendly and accommodating and our food and cocktails were amazing !!
Excellent service, delicious food, especially the flavorful vegetable soup, lox plate and luscious bread pudding.
Went here after enjoying the museum on Father’s Day. Food was great. Service was meh. I’ve given restaurants a lot of grace since I know most places are having difficulty finding employees and are understaffed. This day was not very busy and felt that service was pretty slow and the employees could have been more attentive. We weren’t in a rush and are very patient so it didn’t bother us too much but could see it making others annoyed.
Service was extremely slow and the menu is more limited than previously, but food was very good and we enjoyed sitting outside watching people as much as ever. Have been here dozens of times and always a good experience.
I thought it would be lovely to sit outside. It was. The wine was delicious…food meh. Pretty expensive for not loving the food. $85.00 per person. Oh well…it was an apres Covid dinner out. Felt good
Always delicious and so happy to be back. LACMA is a perfect location for outdoor eating, people watching a lovely glass of wine. Chose the prix fixe-excellent
We had a great early dinner for our graduate from UCLA! Our food was delicious, especially the salmon and potato pizza! Our specialty cocktails were also perfect. Our service was a little off but not terrible. We ate and drank at a more leisurely pace than anticipated, but it all worked out. Thank you for a terrific time! We will be back!
Very good Bianca pizza. Prices are a bit high, but hopefully LACMA gets a cut.
Limited menu and spotty service. Short of waiters and therefore short of service. The waiter tried as best he could but was overwhelmed with tables and other responsibilities.
The menu wash 1/2 of what it used to be. I look forward to post pandemic days!
Suited the purpose. Easy museum venue.
Very ecxpensive for small portions. Food and service excellent . Atmosphere non existant
Soup was not good, spaghetti was marginal. Service was good.
Happy to be back at Ray’s. With a few of the doors open, a couple of the folks in my party were a bit chilly, but we appreciate why this is necessary. But we had a lovely time and never felt rushed.
Starks is not cheap but the food is refined and delicious. Our waiter was excellent and considerate. We will return for special occasions.
It was so lovely. Thanks for making my Mother’s Day so lovely.
This place was right outside LACMA so there is a lot of foot traffic. The ambiance is alright, nothing fancy. The food was pretty good but nothing amazing could have been bigger especially for the price. Service was good
Host was rude, waiter was rude, food took an hour to get, they gave our cheeseboard to another table, and the steak was tough and well done when we asked for medium well.
Host and most staff so lovely- BUT waiter super rude- food was meh at best- like the crappy but acceptable food at a wedding or large catered event .my cocktail had minimal alcohol- super watered down. my bf couldn’t really finish his food bcs it was rubbery - he did not complain but when waiter asked he was honest. Waiter’s response was “well there’s nothing I can abt that now” and walked away. Shocking-I will never eat there again.
Perfect spot to rest , have lunch or coffee, before entering the museum. Is outdoors, great food.
All was good! Food, service, drinks, and ambience.
This isn't a fair review because I didn't actually eat there - the restaurant randomly closed that single Friday and didn't even tell us! We showed up for our museum reservation, excited to have a bite and a drink before and/or after, and were quite disappointed to see that it was closed.
My rating is based on the fact that we weren't given any acknowledgment whatsoever about this closure; I imagine the food would be good as usual, and the ambiance would be excellent (except for the overly militarized etiquette policing going on during these end-of-lockdown days.
Such a pleasant experience, everyone was very courteous, the food was excellent, and a perfect way to begin getting back to the museum.
Nice casual place with decent food and great people watching. Service was also good.
What a find. Beautiful setting on LACMA campus. Two of my dining partners had pizzas which they said were terrific! Prices reasonable. But on site parking is expensive and not validated. Park on the street. My chopped salad was tasty.
