My husband and I brought our 2 friends from North Carolina to Ray’s to share a delicious dinner of the cauliflower appetizer, 2 different pizzas, and 2 different desserts. As usual, the service, food, and atmosphere were all great! We lingered inside over our desserts after an unexpected thunderstorm broke out and we felt welcomed, well-fed, and cozy...
It was great to enjoy great food while listening to the wonderful jazz at LACMA. The service was very good.
Great to grab an indoor table for LACMA Jazz night. Music is easily enjoyed inside as well as outside. If you want outdoor seating for Jazz Nights there is a $100 minimum. That seemed very steep, but I guess if you are sitting at a table for 2 hours it is fair. Food here is always good; drinks well made. Would like the pizza crust to be a bit more crispy. Service was a bit slow I think because outdoor service was hectic. However been to Ray's and Stark Bar previously and always enjoyed the atmosphere. Good to have such a fine restaurant on the LACMA property.
The service was great. They heard that it was our anniversary and treated us to a dessert. You can hear the music on Friday nights on the patio at LACMA. This makes for a lovely experience.
Awesome experience. Highly recommend it.
I’ve been here several times, and tried different entrees on each visit - and all have been delicious. There are lots of vegetarian friendly options, and the plating is really beautiful - like you have to take a picture before you eat. The fun water menu is unique, they aren’t cheap, but some are choices I’ve never seen anywhere else. A really great place to have a relaxing meal with a date or friends who enjoy good food that’s just a LITTLE bit fancy!
Fantastic fun for date with husband (and my birthday). Dinner fell on same date as free jazz Friday at LACMA so extra bonus! Meghan the manager is exceptional. Giovanni the waiter was wonderful. Blood Orange Margarita yum. Burger Au jus great. All perfect - highly recommend
Met with my NYC cousins visiting the nearby museums and it was a perfect spot to reconnect and enjoy scrumptious food in a fun setting!
We visited for early small bites and a cocktail on Friday for Summer Jazz at LACMA. We sat outside. It was bustling but the food and service didn’t suffer as a result of that.
No lobster after 5 pm. Server neglected us at times Good pizza
Food was wonderful. We went for the jazz performance
I love this place for the ambiance and the food is good
Wait service is spotty. Servers are not focused, need to be asked for their mugs several times, for order wrong.
The ambience of the indoor dining room needs work. Spare plastic furniture in a rectangular room is unappealing. The overpriced food by the Patina Group is mediocre as usual. The hostess and the wait staff were cheerful.
I come here even if I'm not visiting LACMA - it is that good!
I already sent a review on SATURDAY! You should have gotten it and I want the restaurant to get it. Pls advise if you do not have it. YIKES!
fabulous FOOD & SERVICE. Carmen IS THE BEST SERVER EVER!
The setting in the LACMA courtyard is really nice. However the food was mixed, with some nice salads, quite horrible pesto linguine and deserts that were salty or tasteless. The worst feature was that it took over an hour for all the main courses to be served and the waiter clearly forgot to order one dish. That isn’t ok for lunch at a museum restaurant.
Great good. Good service. Lovely setting.
I go often. The service was the worst I have ever had at a resturant. There is no management and no concern for Guest. I would bet there is no staff training. Brain dead service staff
Food was great as expected.
The restaurant definitely had a “warn out” feeling and a smell of old restaurant.
The moment we walked up erased any doubts we had about dining at a ‘museum restaurant’. The hosts, server, bartender, and manager were all friendly and made sure each of us were having a great dining experience. Great food and cooked perfectly. Looking forward to other next reservation.
This is a great restaurant for both the food & drink as well as the enjoyable plaza location hosting both museum visitors and lots of adults and kids just ambling around. Take your out of town visitors there for a taste of the real Los Angeles. And visit the museum also!
As always, a great evening out with family visiting from out of town. Beautiful, delicious cuisine, a nice wine list, lovely atmosphere, friendly, competent staff. Thanks for another wonderful meal!
I sit down, order the Thyme Elderflower Gimlet, and suddenly life is really good.
We shared a Cavolo Nero Pizza with Black Kale, and Black Kale Salad.
In both case the kale was prepared differently and tasted like two different delicious greens.
I love sitting in the lounge area on Friday night, enjoying their food and listening to jazz.
The waiter did not check on us
It took forever to even bring the tap water...
Gret service...everyone from hostess to waiter. Food was excellent as usual. Very nice to come on Thursday evening when it is quiet and have a delicious dinner then go to the evening LACMA movie.
Lovely birthday lunch after a trip to LACMA. Have enjoyed other lunches here.
For the most part our visit was very enjoyable. We love having a nice place to dine while visiting LACMA. The food was ok. Pizza - great. Pasta - over seasoned with salt. All of the staff were well trained and personable. Overall a very nice experience.
The food is always good here, but the service really brings this place down. At Sunday Brunch when they were NOT busy, I had to ask for bread three times before it actually arrived. We had to have bread to soak up the juices from our heirloom tomato and burrata salad! When the bread arrived, delivered by someone totally different, we got excuses about the bread in the oven, etc. Odd, because my second course had the same bread, and so did my brunch partner's second course. Service needs improvement. Especially at these prices!
Jazz at LACMA and delicious food = what other reason should there be?!? As always, stylish, artful, and a wonderful time!
This place is absolutely fantastic, especially if you hit on Friday night for the LACMA Jazz Happy Hour. The food is excellent and the service for as loud and hectic is top notch. Alisa is definitely the Hostess with the Mostest, and we have had Carmen take care of us several times as our Server and she's wonderful.
If you live local, this is a must see place and you can hit LACMA or walk the grounds as well.
I had the roast cauliflower. It was very good with bread and olive oil.
I've come here multiple times. Especially since I used to live around the corner. Its a nice date place. But the one thing I have noticed is how inconsistent both the service and the drinks are. My last visit the hostess was very welcoming, but the waiter was so rude that it makes me question not returning. In addition, the drinks are pricey but usually worth it. However, on this last visit, our first round of drinks were so pretty in presentation and tasty. But the second round of the exact same drinks were so sloppy and unattractive. Its fun for a visit, but the regularity of my visits are definitely on the decline.
Lovely atmosphere and ample seating. Unique tables with lovely windows and access to the museum. But the waiter pushed water on us like it was going out of style and brought bottles that were not ordered. Multiple requests for bread and condiments arrived as everyone was finishing their lunch. Food is fun, organic and original.
The only reason I can't give Ray's food 5 stars is because the kitchen was too heavy-handed on the salt in a couple of the dishes. Other than that, I can't fault the preparation or presentation, which was beautiful. Service was too slow, considering the fact that the place wasn't that busy, but the young wait staff were all very polite. My hangar steak was cooked to perfection and delicious. I will give Ray's another try, for sure.
Last year, service was so bad it was laughable. We thought we were being punked. I told my friend what happened last year and exactly the same thing happened this time. Soon after we sat down we ordered drinks. Several minutes later we ordered our meal. Then we waited, waited, waited. Since our waiter was nowhere to be seen, I asked a passing busboy to ask our waiter about our drinks. A few minutes later our food arrived. A few minutes after our food arrived, our drinks arrived. The waiter gave the exact same excuse as last year—the bar is very busy. Funny or sad? Suggestion: hire adequate staff.
My children took me here for dinner after seeing David Hockney as a birthday treat. Rays is very special to us and we love to celebrate special occasions there. The food is unique, the atmosphere upscale without being snooty and the staff very accommodating.
Always a great LA scene on Friday Jazz nights at LACMA. Bring a bottle of wine and save a ton - $20 corkage fee. Service was pretty bad. But when you're sitting outside listening to music and chatting with friends, who cares if you have to wait a little while to order, etc? The cheese plate was awesome and so was the cauliflower.
A really lovely time at Ray's. We were there for dinner before a film showing at LACMA. Chris was our server, and he was great. Took really good care of us. This is a great restaurant, not just a "cafeteria" at a museum.
Excellent food and service. Our server Edgar was knowledge about the whole menu and was able to help us decide what to order. We decided to eat first before going around the museum and the Manager JP knows a lot about the exhibits in the museum and what to look forward to in the next coming weeks. Totally loved the atmosphere, food, service and everything about Ray's.
