Ray’s and Stark Bar
Love the outdoor seating with no cars around. Open views to the park. Healthy, tasty, normal portions. All great. Waiters have a habit (happened to me 3 times already) of forgetting part of the order, usually a small bit like an appetizer to be shared or a side order. I am not fussy but it is their loss. Otherwise, great location, friendly staff, really tasty food.
We all enjoyed your pizzas.
The server was great.
Jennifer is a very hard working and a very accommodating hostess.
I always return and bring friends.
Ordered two pizzas. Both were excellent. Good selections of wine. The service was attentive and much appreciated. Highly recommended.
Hostess and wait staff were amazing! They accommodated our large group and were so friendly. The food was fantastic. A great LA experience.
Very creative menu. The cauliflower appetizer was delicious. Lots of vegan options. Service was very attentive and polite. Great location right at the LACMA. Thank you for a great meal!
This was a disappointing experience. Service was ridiculously slow - it took an hour to get our meals. The food was below average in taste. It seems like the kitchen is trying to be innovative but the flavors aren't good. The croque had way to much mustard and the "sous vide" chicken was tasteless. Chocolate dessert was just okay. Overall my feeling is that LACMA's restaurants and shops are sliding in quality while the building is under renovation/expansion.
Service was friendly but abut slow. A hostess noticed us waiting and took over our service. Did a great job! Overall nice place to sit down and eat at the museum and food was very good.
I always enjoy getting lunch or snacks at Ray's and Stark Bar when I come to visit LACMA. The staff is excellent and the food is delicious. I'm always excited to try something new each time I come. On this latest visit, there was unfortunately a very loud child and with Ray's being such a small and intimate space, the sound did carry a bit. But other than that, it was a wonderful experience and I will definitely go again!
The service was exceptional and matched by delicious food and minimal noise level which enabled us to have a conversation. Would definitely go again. Low noise level is my primary variable in choosing a restaurant. I will not go to restaurants, no matter how highly rated, if I can’t hear the person across from me. So having having outstanding food, service, and low noise level like Ray’s and Stark is truly an exceptional find.
A extra LACMA bonus!!!!
Delicious - food AND service
Food quality is excellent but I wish there was greater variety. On the negative, the wine by the glass pours are stingy.
Food is the focus, and it doesn’t disappoint. The squash soup and pan salmon were delicious, well prepared, and served with great presentation. The prosciutto pizza was easily elevated with some red pepper flakes. Not that is was bad, coming from New York it just wasn’t as good as I’m used to having. The Malasa chai latte was amazing. The atmosphere is loud and bright. We sat in the indoor dining area, though the patio and bar outside were open with heat lamps. I visit the LACMA every time I come to LA. Now Ray and Starks with be added to the routine.
Took 45 minutes for a pizza, wasn’t even busy, server was ok, the food was very good!!
Presentation is fitting for LACMA! Delicious culinary art.
If you're going to LACMA, it's a perfect place to have a drink, or a meal. The food is great. The people watching is outstanding. You've got a great view of the wonderful Urban Lights. BUT the place is BADLY MANAGED. Staff do not seem to know what they are doing. They can't seem to get people into empty tables without huge delays. Service is slow and erratic. It's a shame.
A Perfect place for the art lovers. The scrumptious food and ambience are great.
Great food here! Very impressed with everything.
Pizza is notable. Great crust:)
Would eat here again next time at the museum!
The host was very accommodating for us - we booked an outdoor table but were faced by unexpected strong wind. We initially sat outside with three heat lamps near us, but the host ended up moving us inside. The food was fresh and delicious - don't forget to get some bread before your meal. Their bread is very tasty as well! The only reason why I took one star off was because of the slow service. It didn't look like they had enough staff to cover the lunch crowd (it was MLK Jr day) or need better training. We waited for a long time to request our bill and pay.
Wonderful birthday experience
A disappointing night of so-so to slow service on a not-so-busy evening, starting at 6 pm. Food brought out "as ready," rather than in courses. A glass of wine and cocktail took 15 minutes, water even longer, and once initial course were served, we had to remind that we needed silverware and napkins. (No, they weren't stocked in the drawers hidden in the table.) One of us ordered Dine LA but we were in a hurry to get to a screening and skipped the dessert included and a second cocktail, which they graciously took off the bill as an apology for the delays. Too bad. This restaurant needs to be good. The museum in the center of L.A. should have a quality spot for dinner.
Reasonably tasty food, not too overpriced for the location, but slow/inattentive service.
The beef burger was too salty. My guest ordered the veggie burger and though it was too salty also. This is the second time I have experienced excess salt in my burger. I hope this can be adjusted.
I liove nearby and like to use this place for late afternoon meet-ups.
As you can see the food was great and the service was terrible. It took us forever to get our food and almost missed our tour.
A surprisingly peaceful, delicious and friendly New Year's Eve dining experience.
We were the first guests at the restaurant (12:00 noon), we had a reservation, and still we had to wait 45 minutes for our food. The quality of the food is not worth the price. Our waitress was very nice but the rest of the people were rude. I asked for ketchup and they never brought it, so I had to go look for it myself.
The food is always artfully prepared without lacking in depth and taste. And the servers are always so genuine and thoughtful. I will go out of my way to eat here if in the mid-Wilshire area.
Food was really good, and servers were on point! The wood fired cauliflower was really nice with its Smokey, charred flavour, and so was the duck breast, which was cooked perfectly.
I am one if your best diners. I always give great reviews. However thus place was horrible. The service was bad. The seat next to a window that was leaking. The food not hot. Just awful. And we enjoy the corporate sponsor patina who is great. But this place does not meet the grade of a patina restaurant.
Pleasantly surprised on this visit that the food service (when the food actually came) was much better than in the past when it seemed to take forever. Waitress and servers were very efficient, as well. Great improvement.
Great waiter . Really long time to get our food and it wasn’t crowded
Creative menu never disappoints; staff describes it all well and service is excellent. If going to LACMA, it could not be a better rest spot for dining and conversation.
I generally love this place but we were promised a table inside on a cold night, while there was a ultra loud jazz concert nearby. I received a call on my way there to tell me that they had forgotten they had booked a private party for the interior space and we would have to sit on the patio.
Food was great. Service was not very good. Had to ask more than once for items and then we got a little attitude.
Price was reasonable since we had a 20% discount.
Wonderful menu and friendly service! I wanted to order one of everything on the menu, but I settled for a pizza funghi misti, which was delicious (but too much crust -- I wish they would make pizza like Roman ones). My husband had a chicken roulade which came with three great vegetables (braised cabbage, kale and something else, very healthy). We had a glass and a half of Riesling. We sat outside, which was very pleasant on a Sunday afternoon. Our server, Kaitlyn, was wonderfully informative and friendly, and the new manager, Francesco, was charming and debonair. We had not been to Ray's in a long time, because our favorite manager, Martin, had moved to Patina. But I am glad we came back.
Great food and service before a screening at LACMA. Very attentive and considerate service as we were on a strict time line for an event. Accommodated vegan guests with no issues and very pleasant on the phone going through those options. Highly recommend.
We just celebrated our 18th anniversary at LACMA and went to Ray's and Stark for wine and appetizers. It's a great place to sit outdoors and they have a good wine selection. The olives and artisan cheeses are fantastic. The service is friendly and not too intrusive. It was a perfect cap to our fun time at LACMA and our tour of the Korean art. The only thing I would change is that I would limit the age of children allowed into the bar area to maybe 10 years and older. People take up the lounge space with strollers and screaming babies. There are also too many toddlers running and screaming in the table area where we were.
I go to Ray's simply because it's in LACMA and I'm going to see an exhibit. But it's going downhill fast.
The food is absurd and overpriced: how about just a decent salad or omelette or sandwich instead of these "clever" dishes or hamburgers soaked in sauce so that you can't pick them up???
It needs a major overhaul. the service is usually terrible!
The food is actually great! I was actually surprise the quality, presentation and taste are all fabulous
Service was curt and inattentive
Chicken was undercooked
