Everything you’d expect from a 5 star restaurant! Do yourself a favour & get the 7 course!!
Reunion of sorts. Siblings from 3 different provinces and our father enjoying each others company. Food and service was amazing!
Raymonds is a bucket list dining experience. Everything from the service, to wine, to food, was exceptional. The highlights of our 7 course tasting menu were the lamb tartare and moose pasta. I highly recommend the wine pairing offered with the tasting menus. Raymond’s is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.
What a wonderful experience we had. Service was impeccable and food was outstanding. Every staff member seemed like they cared about the restaurant and the patrons. The chef was incredibly accommodating to my vegetarian needs and created lovely and creative dishes. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.
The ratings are indicative of a harsh critic but explainable. The overall experience was outstanding ( 5 stars) but that being said, my spouse wasn't keen on two of the dishes in her 3 entree offering. She is very much a love of many international cuisines, not a picky eater or nearly as critical as myself, but two of her dishes just came up short (she had some elements that didn't seem to match together or make sense but the main entree was stellar). I think i may have enjoyed her dishes more than she did and all of my dishes in the 5 course plan were outstanding. I had to dock a star because i had to agree that the very first thing she was served, a baked crabapple, was seriously disappointing. It was bitter and uninteresting and rather confused us as to why it was served at all. At this price point, you shouldn't expect anything disappointing in the food. The service section lost a star because of the sommelier. He was knowledgable but didn't bother to ask about his audience. He spoke to a very educated (ISG certifications) guest assuming they wouldn't know anything about a gruner veltliner grape (or other similar comments). Know your audience before you present the wines or your presentation can come off as insulting. The value lost a star because this isn't a 'value' type restaurant but i would give it back a half star if possible because i found the wine pairing ($70 for 5 wines) to be very reasonable. Expect to pay half your mortgage for a dinner for two with wine, but to reiterate, the overall experience was outstanding and we wouldn't hesitate to go again and would love to see how the menu changes by the time we get to attend in the future. Note that we went on a quiet night so could not evaluate the total noise level without a full restaurant. For our evening, it was very pleasant.
Amazing food and service. Everyone in our party of 6 loved the experience.
Everything was great and service was impeccable. I think our servers name was julian great job and some of the best food I ever had.
Great tasting menu with excellent service. Compared to other elite restaurants in a similar price point across Canada and around the world, not quite in the league it aims for and, so, slightly overpriced. Still best in St. John’s for special occasion fine dining.
Amazing. Second time through a 7 course tasting menu and just as impressed as I was the first time. Consistent, creative, beautiful, and most importantly it was delicious.
It was okay. Not the best restaurant in Canada by a long shot. Good service when you got their attention. Food was good. Nice place but two hundred a head is full price
Fantastic tasting menu and glorious wine list
Service was impeccable and the food did not disappoint - it was a memorable culinary event not to be forgotten.
We enjoyed our tasting dinner and wine pairing. A couple of dishes standed out more than others, but all very good.
Meets all the hype and would suggest this restaurant to anyone who comes to St. John's. Will book this again if I were to come back. Even went for Brunch at Merchant Tavern their sister restaurant and it was incredible as well.
One of the top 3 restaurants I’ve ever eaten at.

Fantastic food and service!!!!!!
Great ambiance and friendly staff.
I have dined at Raymond’s several times now and must say that this most recent meal was by far the best to date. My companion ordered the 3 course meal and I the 5 course meal. This was prudent since neither of us has a huge appetite and we share everything. As such we began with our appetizers (she had an amuse bouche and I had the chanterelle pasta...which was divine). We continued with beef tartare and turbot in a sea urchin foam...the turbot was spectacular albeit very small...4 modest bites at best. We then enjoyed a beautiful although again small portion of lamb and the beef tenderloin which was rather large if not enormous by comparison. Desserts were delicious as usual...service was exceptional...from attentive, knowledgeable waiter Connor to captivating and enthusiastic sommelier Mark. What I have learned is that the 3 course meal offers as much, if not more food than the 5 and 7 course meals...just with less variation. I would not recommend the 7 course option as it costs $50 more than the 3 course meal and I have left hungry after consuming the 7 samples of delectable morsels presented me...though if you plan on dining at Raymond’s only once, the 7 course option would be a once in a lifetime event for most people.
Raymond’s is a nearly flawless setting to enjoy conversation and impeccable food, wine and service. We enjoyed every aspect of our 7 course tasting menu with the exception of the end of the meal when, as the last table in the restaurant we felt a bit abandoned by the server who took over our table. First, my husband had to get up an ask for the check, then the server stood over us, hovering with an attitude of inappropriate aggression whilst we wanted to confer about the bill and the tip we wished to leave our wonderful servers. It was very off putting to say the least. In any establishment it’s best to give the diner(s) space to consider the bill- especially after almost 4 hours of eating and drinking. More intuition and tact would have been greatly appreciated. In a place so rightly renowned as Raymond’s it seemed bizarre and marred an experience that we would otherwise give the highest possible rating. Hopefully better etiquette will develop around this practice.
Impeccable service, delicious food. Pricey but not more than one would expect for similar tasting menu.
It was good but the portions were just too small. We left quite hungry after a $400 meal for two trying the 5 courses. Waitress forgot about drinks twice and it was cold in the dining room.
Our dinner was sublime & we highly recommend Raymond’s.
Massive thanks to the service staff tonight: Andrew, Marek, and Ryan! We loved it - you guys crushed!
My husband and I were visiting St. John’s from Toronto and received a recommendation to dine at Raymond’s from one of our clients here who has visited Raymond’s serveral times. We were there for our four year wedding anniversary and it was truly an experience we will never forget. It’s been very difficult to eat other meals since because they simply don’t compare (haha). Our server, Adam, was very welcoming and took good care of us. Between him and the chef they were able to easily and kindly accommodate my husband’s dairy intolerance. We enjoyed the 5-course tasting, oysters, extra dessert, espresso and a bottle of wine and had the best dinner ever. We’re so glad we went and cannot wait to visit again. Thanks to the entire Raymond’s team for the most amazing foodie experience of our lives and a date we will take with us forever.
5 course set menu was good but the portions were all extremely small. Unfortunately not at all good value for the price.
On vacation and enjoyed the experience.
Flavors explode with each and every bite. We had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. It was expensive, but good value for one of the best meals I have ever had.
Phenomenal meal. Flavours were creative and complimentary. We added the wine pairing and it was a great decision. The service was incomparable to anywhere else.
Fantastic experiment. Food, service and ambience is second to none. Can be a bit noisy if you are sitting near the wrong crowd but we were also there on a Friday night. Will visit again.
Definitely not the price range my husband and I generally go for but it was our honeymoon so we splurged and it was worth it- The food was fresh and delicious and the service was exceptional.
What an experience...amazing food, nice wine pairings, and the servers were perfect.
The best meal ever!
Unusual surroundings and delicious food, but not worth a $700 bill for 5 people for a 3 course tasting menu.
Food was wonderful with a perfect wine pairing. The special touches for our Anaverisary were perfect.
Amazing as always. We go there 2-3 times/ year and always have had a fantastic experience. Well worth the money.
We were not disappointed.Visiting from Ontario and would go back again.
My wife, Donna, and I dined at Raymond’s to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is the second time we have done so. We really enjoyed the experience, the atmosphere, the excellent food and great service. We also enjoyed striking up a conversation with a couple sitting next to from Ontario. We will definitely return and we will certainly recommend Raymond’s to others!
The food and service were amazing. The wait staff took the time to explain our dishes and the food was just incredible. Loved everything about the meal.
Absolutely wonderful food! This is my third time eating there and I am never disappointed.
Fantastic food! One of the if not the best meal I’ve ever had! Great textures of food with amazing flavors. It is a very pricey meal but worth it for a very special occasion.
Great food, wine and ambiance. Had a nice view of a ship out in the harbour. Waiter was excellent, made the fine dining experience casual and fun. Get the 7 course if your hungry. 5 course may be a little lite but super tasty. Beef tenderloin was amazing.
We had the three course meal. We added on the cheeseboard. Everything we had was delicious. I know a lot of people complain about portion size, but with the three course the portions were great. I actually took some of my entree home with me. I think with the 5 and 7 course tasting menu the portions are a bit smaller. My favourite course i had was the braised lamb pappardelle pasta, so good.
