Farm-to-table
Living in Newfoundland and Labrador, we’re blessed in having access to some of the best seafood, meat, and produce in the world. Having such a bountiful larder right on our doorsteps means we’re able to adopt a truly sustainable approach to fine dining – sourcing locally-grown ingredients and getting to know independent purveyors. We've made every effort to make dining at Raymonds a unique and rare treat. Visit us at 95 Water Street in the heart of downtown St. John’s. Our dinner menu, prepared by head chef Jeremy Charles, is inspired by rustic Atlantic Canadian cuisine. It features authentic dishes that take advantage of Newfoundland and Labrador’s rich variety of seafood, wild game, berries and vegetables, while also exploring innovative, 'haute cuisine' ingredient combinations and finishes.

The food, ambiance and service were excellent! We decided to have a three course dinner with wine pairings - truly impressed with how complementary the wine pairings were for each dish. It was also very nice that some of the pairings included local (Nova Scotia) wines. Wonderful experience!

We loved everything about our meal. We travelled from bc and a big part of the trip was our dinner at Raymond’s. Our server Reagan was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. Along with the sommelier who’s name we forgot they went above and beyond to make our experience memorable and all around amazing. The food was fantastic and a true reflexion of the time and place. Highly recommend it.

The ambience was excellent. Our every request was granted. The servers were very informative and friendly like all Newfoundlanders we have met. The Halibut was excellent and the portion was large. We had a cheese tray for an appetizer and would heartily recommend it. You receive a variety of crackers that are unique to the restaurant that made the pairing with the cheese enjoyable. The dessert was delicious but disappointing in size. It was about two spoonfuls of dessert with one spoon of ice cream. I would recommend the wine pairing. The Nova Scotia Ancienne Chardonnay was the best.

What a fabulous unexpected spot in St. John's Newfoundland.
We had the 7 course tasting menu with the wine parings. The food and service were outstanding. The sommelier and wine pairings were also fantastic. I would highly recommend this as one of the best food experiences in Canada.

Fantastic tasting menu at Raymonds. Food is amazing and I got to experience lots of uncommon local ingredients which made the menu even more special. Service is exceptional, my waitress was able to change an onion purée for a different sauce because I’m allergic to onions. This is a top tier fine dinning restaurants in North America. In my own opinion, it can get ready to catch a Michelin star.

Overall our evening at Raymonds was good, but the 5-course selection with wine pairing for two at over $500 was far too expensive for the overall experience. Unfortunately, there is no pricing on the website menu, so it was a complete surprise to find out that it was so expensive. We have been at restaurants that are at 1/2 the cost of Raymonds that would be as good in terms of quality and ambiance. If money matters, you might want to try somewhere else.

I was so excited to go to Raymonds because I saw Ross Larkin on the Top Chef show and his them for his food was all from Newfoundland. Everything was so unique. The restaurant offers several ways to enjoy their food: 3 or 5 or 7 courses. Even though I knew I could not eat 7 courses, I ordered it anyway because the lobster and sea urchin comes with this option. It was wonderful. The desserts were great too. About 30 minutes after I got there, a large part of downtown St Johns experienced a power outage so the restaurant lost power.

They were so informative and found a way to keep cooking until the power came back on. I thought that they were so classy and kept us updated that it was a very chilled and extra special evening. Great setting and the service was wonderful. The wait staff is charming and not rushed and they explain everything they serve you. They also have a special sparkling wine made for them. I can say it was also outstanding. Can't wait to go back.

On our first visit to St. John's Nfld, we knew we wanted to spend the final evening of our trip enjoying something special in an evening and a meal. Knowing that Raymond's had recently been voted #12 on the list of Top 100 Restaurants in Canada made it an easy choice!

Everything about our Raymond's experience was top-notch, including the luxurious but comfortable atmosphere, the professional but friendly waitstaff, and of course the delicious and impeccably-presented components of our 3-course taster meals.

We would absolutely recommend Raymond's, whether you are celebrating a special occasion or are just in the mood for a special meal!

We did the 7 course tasting menu and were really amazed by the complexity of flavours that the chefs at Raymonds were able to create. Every course was delicious. The moose carpaccio was our favourite. The service was friendly and attentive. We did not opt for the wine tasting menu as we believed that the cost was not a good value and preferred to spend our dollars on the food. I would like to have seen that an establishment at this culinary level would be paying their staff a living wage so no gratuity would be necessary.

We enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu. Each course was beautifully prepared and presented. There were some unusual flavours and many surprises. We were treated to the tastes of Newfoundland at its best. Executive Chef Jeremy Charles and Chef De Cuisine Ross Larkin are a formidable team.

Jeremy Charles' restaurants are on the cutting edge and a must visit if you are in St. John's. Raymonds is certainly one of the best in Canada.

Fill up on the delicious bread or you’ll leave hungry. Menu was less than exciting and extremely limited. Dessert was awful. Vinegar beet sorbet that made your mouth pucker and your senses will have a difficult time recovering.

Overpriced which includes $14 for what amounted to two glasses of Perrier.

I’ll give the sommelier points for creativity and the pasta was super...but I left hungry and poorer.

Given the much ado about the Chef Jeremy Charles and the chef de cuisine, I was hoping for dinner on par with some nice three stars in Manhattan. Not close...no amuse buche, nothing extra. No exceptions to the five course.

I felt completely ripped off. They’re not anywhere close to a three star in Manhattan and they shouldn’t act like they are. I’ll be sure not to believe the hype next time.

I left with no feeling of Newfoundlander warmth and friendliness.

It was a great experience to do a fresh tasting menu in St. John's. The food was good overall but we were a bit disappointed with the taste given the high cost. Unless you are happy to splurge on a dinner, I would recommend finding a more price-friendly restaurant somewhere else in St. John's (and there are tons which are very good!).

My husband and I went to Raymond’s last night. The Place was nice, cozy and service was great. However I was not impressed with the food itself especially for the price, it was disappointing as I’m such a foodie. First we started with a cheese and meat tray which was not too bad. We decided to do the 3 main courses. I had the Veg Pasta which I will say was really good, my husband had the moose Pasta which was ok. We then waited over an hour to get the main course which I had the Lobster and it was so tough, very buttery and creamy but it was over the top. My husband had the pork and you could see the blood in it before he even cut it, raw meat not so good so it definitely needed to be cooked more. For dessert I had Raspberry and my husband had partridgeberry and it was so disappointing. Just like you threw jam on a plate and served it. The 3 courses took about 3 hours which I found extremely long, we started at 7:50pm and let around 11pm. First time there and based on experience I would not be excited to return

We rate this as one of our top 3 dining experiences across Canada! Great local NL farm to table offerings (moose pasta app and lobster main- yum!) with well portioned courses. Very unique flavours and creative combinations. Extensive wine list (pairings also available) but took quite awhile to order any! Otherwise very attentive service. Elegant room with well spaced tables for privacy. Definitely a grand palate experience!

Each dish was exquisite full of flavour carefully presented, the service was excellent the wines absolutely right on each dish and wine carefully described by the wait staff and sommelier. Far superior to similar experiences in Michelin star rated restaurants. We flew in specially to fine there, well worth it !
