Every month 3 of my friends and I get together for dinner. We take turns selecting a restaurant. I had a list of restaurants that participated in Houston restaurant week. I went through some of the restaurants on the list and their website. I came across Rattan Asian Bistro and browsed the website and menu. It sounded good and the location was convenient for everyone. Well let me say, the pick was a HUGE success! The food was EXCELLENT and the wine selection was great! Everyone enjoyed the food so much. The ambiance was great. And our server Nora was AMAZING! We will definitely go back. Highly recommended!!!

we always love it here - especially on Saturdays when all wine is half price! The specials off the menu are great - usually lamb, ribs, etc but the choice of sushi, seafood and Asian curries make it hard not to find something you'd like. Staff are always friendly and we've never had a bad meal here.

We went for Houston Restaurant Weeks. The food was pretty good. The Satay Samplers were very good, as was the butter cake. The Halibut and Beef entrees were a bit dry and, therefore, slightly disappointing.

I invited my parents to try as part of the Houston Restaurant Weeks. Meal choices were good and we had a great time. Good way to introduce this restaurant. I have been several times and have had a good visit each time.

Another great visit. We stumbled upon this place by accident and were so glad we did. It's one of our go to places now. My wife loves their fried rice. I'm big on the Vietnamese Garlic Beef and the tomato rice. Give it a try... you won't be sorry!
In addition, the last TWO times we walked out there was a beautiful rainbow as we walked out. I won't guarantee it's there every evening😉

second time getting very poor service. Food is great but not enough to tolerate bad service.
Plenty of places to in the area to spend our money. Too bad since we do like the food.

5.24.17 We have been coming here for about 10 years. We made our reservation like always sat at a booth we have sat at MANY times before. We asked for the happy hour menu like always and were told "you cant have happy hour at this table" when we asked why the waiter he said it was the rules. We asked when that started as we've sat there many times and have gotten the happy hour menu.He had no answer. We asked for the manager she came over and said "oh they havent changed the rules yet this table has no happy hour" but if we moved to a table 3ft away we could do it we couldn't sit at the booth and get happy hour.At that point we just said never mind and left. I guess they dont want the business..

Rattan was a great experience for a first date. The Cuisine was both beautiful and tasty.
Although it was our waitress's first night on duty she was pleasant and attentive.
I really look forward to another visit.

The ambiance of Rattan is warm and inviting. It is open late, and the bar is great for a tasty libation or snack. The food is delicious and is consistently good. The service staff is professional and very attentive to your needs. This is a must try in the Energy Corridor.

I went on a weekday (Thursday) and it was not very busy at 6:45. They have a great food, drink and wine menu. The ambience is a casual elegent style.

I ordered the seafood don with miso cream paste over fried rice which was superb.

Definitely recommended.

The service was definitely questionable, as I have seen others say as well. The first thing the waiter said when greeting us, on Valentine's Day, was "I don't want to be here I want to be at home with my girlfriend." LOL but we ignored him, ordered a bottle of wine and enjoyed the dinner. Which was great! The food is really good here and the Rattan roll was by far our favorite. We would visit here again because it's really close to my house.

Overall Rattan never disappoints. The food is very nice, slightly complex in taste, which is always a great thing. The wait staff was running, which made the wait for drinks and food a little longer than expected, but still ok. Rattan has the most excellent open wines, with around 40 wines available by the glass. A great little Bistro and a favorite of mine for a mid priced evening.

We were celebrating my wife's birthday with a group of friends and were welcomed to the restaurant and seated. Our server put a sour taste on the whole experience even though the food was great.

Our server made inappropriate comments such as "That would be Stupid" when asking a question about the Menu. He also couldn't seem to get his act together and kept asking us if we were ordering appetizers or entree's? Lastly his service was slow, we had to ask for refills multiple times even though there were only maybe 6-8 tables with people at them in the entire restaurant.

The food was great, but I wouldn't come here again if this is the kind of Service to expect.

The quality and flavor is falling flat lately. Even the drinks are falling too.. . I have gone there twice in span of a week and both times they did not have the ingredients for lychee lemongrass martini...

My husband and I go here often with our daughter, and we recommended it to my husband's father and sister, who were visiting from Chicago. I had made reservations in advance with Open Table, for a party of ten. The set up was fine, but the waiter was very rude. He asked if my husband's son was his, then when my husband replied "yes", he said "What the hell?" I ordered a sushi roll and asked that they not fry it (which I've done before and enjoyed it), to which he replied, "That doesn't sound very good to me." Then when I confirmed my order, he said "That won't taste very good." My father-in-law also complained of his rudeness. We are very disappointed. Needless to say, we won't be back.

We had a reservation, but it was not needed - less crowded than expected on a Saturday night.

Excellent ahi tuna and Chilean sea bass, and reasonably sized portions. Special on bottles of wine (half price).

Would not recommend as the food is not authentic. We had the restaurant week menu and disappointed with Thom kai soup and shrimp tempura - nowhere near to its specialty.

For $20 (minus $3 for donation), there is a better food quality value in nearby Tay Do or Sinh Sinh at Bellaire. Ambience was ok.

The shortribs gave my husband heartburn despite the great portion sizes and options for HRW. I really liked the mochi ice cream and the butter cake was really, really rich and tasty. You might get a heart attack from the amount of butter put into the butter cake........
