We use fresh meats and vegetables, never frozen. The pretzels are made by hand by an Army vet who learned to make pretzels in Germany after his service. The sauces are made from scratch. Our cocktail program features both popular and obscure German spirits. The wine program consists of small-production family-owned wineries in Germany and Austria. Beer offerings include a healthy diet of imported German beers and local breweries who make German-style brews.
Join us inside our cozy beer hall, outside on our biergarten, or for take out or delivery! Thanks for being a part of the #schnitzelgang.

Great food and experience. A family favorite and we'll be back.
Perfect for a date night or an anniversary dinner.
Good simple food. Surprising that there are vegan options at a German place!
Terrific food, tried new things! Wonderful cocktail and an extensive drink list. Charming place, will definitely be back!
We had a lovey dining experience outside in the bier garden on our date night. Would definitely come again with the family or a girls night!
Wonderful food!!! Ambiance so so but great great food!
Thanks Maria! Hope to see you next time!
Nice, quaint place. Food Servings are very generous! Staff was very pleasant. Brats were really good!
Thanks so much!
Excellent service and food!
Thanks so much!!
Very quaint and cozy! Staff was exceptional and very knowledgeable! Definitely a great dining experience!
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Love the food, the beer is great with the half pours they do. Will be returning.
I'm glad you like that we have half pours! Thanks for the great review. See you next time!
Best meal we have had in a long time. Don't delay, you have to try it. The potato cakes are my newest obsession.
Thanks Amanda! The potato cakes are obsession worthy!
Picked at random while on a short trip to the area. First of all: the food and the people are FANTASTIC. We had curry wurst and bratwurst and curry fries. And a local hefeweizen. All delicious. We ended up sitting outside, which was okay, but you can hear traffic on Route 1 half a block behind you, plus any trains that might happen to clatter and screech going by. But on a Friday night, the noise level indoors, which also included a guy playing music, was overwhelming. I wouldn't pass this place up just over some noise though!
Kudos to the owners and employees for making the best of the pandemic and serving up great food. I haven't had a bratwurst like that in 30 years, since Germany.
Thank you so much Wendee! We're working on getting some music out there to make you forget you're right next to Route 1 so bear with us! The greatest compliment we can get is when our food reminds our guests of Germany! See you soon, Will
Outstanding food and service. Couldn’t ask for anything more
Thanks a ton!
Everything is great about going here. The staff was friendly the food came out quick and tasted great and we all had a blast. They did a great job taking care of our table of eight.
Wow, thanks a lot! Glad you all had a great time.
Best schnitzel and bratwurst in the area. All the staff are wonderful. Strongly recommend reservations. And, btw, Bitburger on tap!
Thank you so much! Can't beat Bitburger on tap!
This is a nice neighborhood spot that serves tasty German fare. The curry fries and potato cakes were especially noteworthy. The beer was a generous pour. Restrooms are a bit odd -- the women's room is down a short hallway in the back of the basement, but the men's room is in the middle of the basement dining area.
Thanks so much for the kind words. I wish I can change the layout of the restrooms, myself. See you next time.
Not a complaint, but noise level is above what I prefer.
Thanks so much for the review. It does get pretty loud in here - I will have to see what I can do to mitigate the noise.
First time at Rathskeller. The ambience is somewhat barren but that could be due to spacing tables due to covid. Good selection of German beers, pork schnitzel was crispy and tender, delicious. German potatoes salad was very good. I would recommend the Rathskeller for authentic German food and beer.
Thanks for joining us last weekend Marcus! Hope to see you again soon.
While the flammkuchen and spaetzle were very tasty, they bore little resemblance to the items you would get in Germany. Having lived in Germany for a total of 7.5 years, I’ve eaten both while there. My RK Old Fashioned was excellent. The staff were both cheerful and helpful. Will definitely go back again.
Thanks so much for the kind review! We'll see you next time!
Great food and great service. Only issue was the handicap elevator wasn’t working, so we had a little bit of a challenge getting a stroller into the space.
Thanks so much Dorian! The elevator is very tricky - if you didn't ask a staff member for help last weekend, please make sure you do so next time! We'd love to help you.
Best kept secret in Elkridge. Party of three ordered their giant pretzel, flammkuchen, potato cakes and spatzle. All washed down with a German Pilsners. Amazing outdoor seating with like music on Friday and Saturday nights. Staff are some of the friendliest I’ve ever encounter. This place has become one of my absolute favorites.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We love having you a part of the #schnitzelgang!
Had a great experience for restaurant week. All of the food was delicious, and looking forward to coming back to try more options!
Wow, thanks so much! Would love to see you next time!
The food is sub par compared to the authentic German food. I wouldn't go back.
Hey Cat, Thanks for joining us last weekend. Sorry to hear that you wouldn't come back. God bless, Will
Great food and excellent service. It was very hot so we ate inside. Way too loud of music , competing music from kitchen, then staff had to talk very loud just to be heard. Tone down the music and it would be perfect.
Wow, thanks so much for the 5-stars. Sorry about the loud music, we'll make sure to keep an "ear" out for it.
My husband and I celebrated out 27th wedding anniversary at Rathskeller. Rathskeller's ambiance, servers, food, beverages and cleanliness were top-notch, 100%. The pork Schnitzel was out of this world good! The potato pancakes were like no other. My parents and grandparents would be so impressed with the food! The red cabbage slaw and other ethnic foods were so delicious. The staff made us feel very special on our anniversary and brought us complimentary champagne. The live entertainment was fabulous as well on that Friday night. I am sad that I waited this long to go! Cannot wait to go back again soon to try the wurst and other German foods! #Schnitzelgang!
Thanks so much for joining us for your 27th wedding anniversary! We're happy to have you a part of our #schnitzelgang!
This was our second visit to Rathskeller. On our last visit, the restaurant was packed and the kitchen couldn’t keep up. This time, all was calm. The service was efficient. For restaurant week, the selections were good and priced reasonably. We both enjoyed our meals and plan to visit more frequently. Excellent beer selection!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate the kind words!
Staff was extremely helpful in selecting appropriate meals for 2 children, even customizing spice levels.
Thank you so much Lacey! Hope to see you next time.
Pretty good food and drinks, looking forward for next time
Thank you so much! We'll see you next time!
Great food, great service. We will definitely go back and recommend it to friends and family.
Thanks so much Robert!
One of a kind spot for outstanding German fare in the greater HoCo/Baltimore area. The food is so incredibly delicious - I’ve been there several times for dinner/lunch/brunch and never had a bad experience!
Absolutely recommend for anyone looking to do something different!
Thanks so much for your continued support!
Wunderbar! Really enjoyed this echt German-style bierstube. Terrific food and interesting beer. The attention to details really paid off. Looking forward to going back.
Wow, thanks so much!
This was our first visit at Rathskeller. My hubby & i were celebrating our 34th Anniversary today. We were greeted by Ryan, a friendly face with a welcoming personality. We settled in with a toast of bubbly, & a brew to begin the adventure. I cannot say enough about this establishment, so let me offer just a nibble of delight. We ordered a party platter consisting of schnitzel (falafel/eggplant) & sausages (curry/spicy pork) with a pretzel (made in house by a veteran, Thank You for your service Sir) and a side of roasted broccoli (gotta have something green, lol) all per Ryan’s recommendation, we followed the platter with the apple strudel. In conclusion, get here ASAP, We’ll see y’all again real soon!!!
Thanks for choosing to celebrate your anniversary here with us!
Fun place. Had a very nice acoustic musician playing. Made reservations 45 minutes before showing up. Food was good, dessert (apple strudel and ice cream) very good. Service was good.
Thanks so much Steve!
Great food and great location
Thanks so much!
We had a great time at the Rathskellar and way too much delicious food! It was really impressive of Will and the Rathskellar staff to raise funds for Childrens' Hunger Outreach Program, and we were pleased to do (and eat) our part. The schweinshaxe was amazing, as were the BBK wings, and I hope they find their way back to the menu more often!
Thanks for your continued support! We'll try and get those wings more often!
Love this place. Just go. Good food and service. Will be back!
Thanks so much!
This was a surprisingly delicious, not tacky German dining experience. It was a little nervous about the old fashion with Jager Meister in it, but I figured I would give it a shot and it was so delicious I had two! Every bit of food that we ordered was absolutely delicious, from the potato cakes to the broccoli come to the pretzel roll on my wurst. We even put away some warm apple strudel with delicious vanilla ice cream. We will definitely go back and I would recommend this place. I promise, there will be no Oompa music!
Thanks so much for the kind words! Thanks again for giving us a shot and I'm glad you liked your time here. Prost, Will
Great new spot in Elkridge. Menu is limited but good.
Service was good. We will be back!
Hi Susie, Thanks so much for the review!
It was a great evening for our anniversary. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and the owner brought us complementary glasses of sparkling German white wine to celebrate with us.
Thanks for choosing us to celebrate your anniversary!
Amazing neighborhood spot with a great happy hour. Live music on Fridays and Saturdays are a plus!
Thanks so much Davina!
