Very tasty food, fast service, nice staff, reasonable price.
Don't go here for dinner if you are looking to order and eat quickly, but if you plan on a long leisurely dinner, food is worth the wait!
Perhaps one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a restaurant in DC. The service was terrible. I walked in after they had opened, at the same time as my waitress who looked a bit disheveled with hair falling in her face.
Items we ordered were forgotten and had to be asked for multiple times.
We ordered ice cream for desert and the manager came and told us the freezer wasn’t working so the ice cream was liquid, so we got rice pudding instead. Unfortunately it was not edible - the texture was slimy and unlike anything we had experienced. Out of three of us, no one could eat it.
Will not be going here again.
Made a reservation, but when we showed up were seated right away. I was never asked if I had a reservation but told them. They must have marked down the incorrect reservation because shortly after we were seated, I received a call from the restaurant asking where we were. Other then that, service was slightly slow. It took awhile for anyone to come over to our table to take our drink order, but the food was great.
Took the team for a thank you lunch and we all loved it. Great vegetarian options as well as plenty for the carnivores among us. Great buffet choices at a good price. We all said let's do this again!
Food was excellent and were made to feel very welcome
The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 7 pm. Nevertheless, the waitress was slow and un-attentive. The food was average at best. One member of our party wanted to take some of the food home, so they brought us a box to box it ourselves. There must be better Indian restaurants in the area.
I reserved a quite table at Rasoi kitchen for a special occasion and I had a good experience except that it was Saturday evening and the restaurant was too quiet and though it was obviously a slow evening the service was very slow as well. We had to flag down the waiter for everything and after we finished we waited and waited but were never offered dessert so we just asked for the check and left. overall the food was really good.
Rasoi is a really lovely experience for dinner. The food is good and it isn’t nearly as noisy as similar restaurants.
Very nice Indian restaurant within walking distance from hotels near the White House. Good service and fairly quite
Rasoi was EXCELLENT in every way!
Owner, "Kitty" and staff made us feel most welcome and she was most helpful matching our individual tastes to the menu items and even customized one dish to accommodate my husband's love of lamb and green chilies.
The food was savory and delicious, not overly nor under spiced. The portions were plentiful, which encouraged sharing and that only enhanced our dining experience.
The service was most attentive, yet not intrusive. Kitty and the staff made my birthday celebration very special and delicious!
The restaurant's decor was rich, without being gaudy and overall, our dining experience was delightful! We will most definitely return!
Rasoi turned out to be a wonderful surprise on my birthday - my wife and I had reservations at another popular Indian restaurant in DC and when we arrived, we found out it was restaurant week and they didn’t have anything we could eat on the menu (I’m vegetarian). I quickly searched OpenTable and saw Rasoi, which was only about 8 blocks away. A 2 minute Uber and we pulled up in front of Rasoi, and I could immediately tell I was going to like the place because of the great statuary in the entryway. The place is clean, feels open, and wasn’t super busy on a Thursday night. The owner let us pick whatever table we wanted, and gave us absolutely perfect service - not rushed, but checked back in with us occasionally as we lazily ordered drinks, appetizers, and finally entrees. I never got any sense that she was trying to rush us through so she could turn over our table, which is always my biggest problem with places like Rasika and Bombay Club. The food was great and relatively inexpensive, the drinks were strong and reasonably priced, and the service was excellent. The Palak Chaat is just as good as Rasika, but you get 50% more for almost half the price. The owner recommended the Tandoori Paneer Malai Tikka, and WOW. As a vegetarian I normally go for the classics, but this dish is like Indian soul food. Okay, so this place isn’t as swanky as some of the other upscale Indian places in DC... so what? I just want good food and good drinks and good service, and Rasoi delivered all of that at about half the price I would have paid somewhere else. I left happy and satisfied and will definitely be back!!
The service and food were great and so much food!!
Have been looking for genuine INDIAN food in DC and we found it at Rasoi! Great food and service. Understood what I meant when I said the food needed to be spicy and delivered. Will become our regular INDIAN restaurant in DC
Slowest service ever! Cold food! Will not go here again.
We had a table booked for 8.30pm on a Thursday night and unfortunately we were the only people here . This was off putting as there was no atmosphere. The food was nice though and the owner/manager had a nice chat with us.
We had to meet near the National Theatre and there's really not a lot in that area. The 3 main restaurants are almost impossible to get in unless you have reservations far in advance. We had a group of 5 and 2 were vegetarians. Not always easy to find a great restaurant that will cater to them. I thought of Indian Food. That way everyone could get something that they wanted. We found Rasoi Indian Kitchen and I'm thrilled we did. The food was delicious and the ambiance was lovely and the service was excellent. We had Samosas to start which were very good. Their Tandoori chicken and Murgh Makhani was excellent. We also had a Biryan Lamb dish that was very good. The vegetarians had Gobi Aloo, Palak Channa and Saag Paneer complete with rice and naan bread. It was really delicious and everyone left for the Theatre, full and very happy!
Vegetarian options were awesome!
We went there for a family holiday. Our group included two vegans. Our waitress was wonderful and worked with all of us to ensure a pleasurable experience
Great food, lovely staff & chill with an infant on a Friday night. It was perfect for us!
Food was some of the best! Can't get better naan! Service was unbeatable!
Excellent service, food, and ambience. We had a get together that included a close, longtime friend and our respective families. The person who took care of us all night was great. He understood that we were having fun talking and wasn’t intrusive at all, but we never felt neglected either. The food was delicious! I had veggie samosas and chicken tikka masala. Both were delicious. I would definitely come back here!
Very good Indian buffet lunch - plenty of choices, tasty (good quality) food, reasonable price for a sit-down downtown lunch. Very vegetarian-friendly. Good service - polite and attentive, but not TOO attentive. I'd go again for sure.
Very good Indian food. Excellent service and value.
Execellent service and authentic Delicious Indian!
First let me say we've been eating Indian cuisine for many year's, I was raised with Indian friend's so it's been 35 years for me. We were traveling, but like having a variety so we selected 4 dishes that were all very delicious.
Bhindi Masala, Dahl makini, chicken tika Masala, paneer, with peas and the cheese roti. Please forgive my spelling, I should know this by now. Excellent food and quality owership, I highly recommend
Very chill attitude until you get your piping hot food which is excellent. Had the chicken tikka, don't be afraid to ask for mild. Garlic naan was great. Go for water. Nice decor and service was perfect.
The best Indian buffet in all of D.C.
On a sweltering evening in July, we thought Indian cuisine would be the right fit.
Appetizer sampler was VERY GOOD. Companion enjoyed the Chicken Tikka Masala. I overplayed my hand on the Lamb Vinderloo. It was good, but likely more spicy than I had anticipated. Asked for additional rice and was graciously accommodated.
I was hesitant to go to Rasoi after reading some reviews. However, it was one of the best decisions I made in DC! The food was fantastic. We ordered the 3 course meal and mango lassi drinks, and the spice level and taste were just incredible. The wait staff (maybe the owner?) was kind and patient for us to order. The restaurant was quiet and I did not feel rushed to eat or leave (a huge bonus!). It was a clean place and had a welcoming atmosphere. The pricing was quite reasonable for the amount of food that we received. I would recommend Rasoi to visitors or locals in DC looking for good indian cuisine.
The food service was excellent. Friendly staff, let us stay past their closing time to accommodate us. Good food.
In all honesty, we picked Rasoi because it was offering 1000 points, but we left satisfied with our points AND our meals. The food is quite tasty, and I think we will likely be going again. The restaurant has some cute Indian decorations but overall is not fancy, and there were not many people in the restaurant on a Sunday night (perfect for a quiet conversation), but based on the location, I imagine Rasoi gets a pretty good work-lunch crowd. If you are in the neighborhood and like Indian, it was good.
We arrived on 4th of July for dinner and were told by the hostess that we have to eat out of the Buffet items since the kitchen is extremely busy, we went to see the buffet and were surprised by the look of it: Empty platters and food scattered on the table and on the floor, no one was tending to the buffet and we had to take our leave
The food was amazing! However- the service was very slow. It took a very long time to order and ask for things because our server would not come out table
Good food but busy for the number of staff working.
I would definitely go back again.
Dinner was so good, I can't wait to eat here again.
Excelente comida y muy buen servicio
