Like it’s Penn Quarter counterpart, Rasika West End serves some of the best upscale Indian food in the city.
Delicious meal the red snapper and the chicken masala were delicious. Service is always impeccable.
After years of hearing about Rasika, I was excited to try it. Given the price point, I was shocked that the entrees tasted watered down and were quite small portions. The only redeeming factor was the appetizer, palaak chat. That was the only dish worth the hype. The railway lamb curry and lobster malai were huge disappointments. The lamb dish contained mostly potatoes with a relatively bland curry sauce. The lamb tasted overcooked and was quite chewy, closer to a goat texture. The lobster dish had just a couple pieces of lobster in a really bland, watered down sauce. We ordered garlic naan, but only got one plain piece of naan for $3.50. Even your average Indian fast service restaurant serves higher quality curries. I'm not sure if we caught them on a bad day or if their quality has dropped over the years, but I for one will not be recommending this restaurant.
We brought friends to Rasika and they loved it. One of our friends had the tasting menu with wine pairing and he loved it. I was sorry I did not have the tasting menu but will next time for sure!
Simply outstanding. Tough reservation to get, so we ended up having an early curry lunch on Sunday. Chaat appetizers were great, lamb and chicken entrees were spicy and flavorful. Great truffle nan, raita and house made chutneys. Looking forward to coming back to DC to try a few more things on the menu.
Can’t go wrong with Rasika. Delicious meal and great service, as usual. Asked server to pick wine pairing for our entrees and it was perfect! Overall, another great dining experience which keeps us wanting to come back. Packed on a Saturday night but didn’t inhibit our conversation.
Everything was great: food, service and atmosphere. We loved each dish, but especially sweet potato samosa and salmon tandoori. We never felt rushed and enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing meal. We had come together from Boston, Pittsburgh and Chicago and will return the next time we are in DC! Highly recommend !
Great food, good service, very nice setting. A must!
Unbelievably delicious food and great service
Delicious dinner, great service, and outstanding cocktails. Rasika never disappoints. Husband loved the lamb chops. The halibut and tikka masala were also wonderful.
Service and food, as always, exquisite. A guaranteed locale for showing off the DC dining experience.
I had planned a birthday dinner for my wife, and noted this in the reservation, with a specific request for a cake. There was no acknowledgement whatsoever that the request had been received, and it was not acted on. We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings. The wines brought were not the ones listed in the menu, and when we queried these, the waiter informed us that they had to substitute because the ones listed were finished. They paired poorly. The food was good, but was far more than what would have been expected for a tasting menu. All in all, Rasika West is just an average Indian restaurant. There is nothing to really distinguish the food from other Indian restaurants, and we were unimpressed by the quality of the slapdash service which seemed hesitant, uninformed, and not really tuned in to what was going on at the table. Won't go back.
Tasty, and not bad overall, but a different take on Indian cuisine than expected. Sometimes the results were quite good, and could be worth a trip back, for other dishes the results were somewhat lackluster. Service was among the best I've ever had, personally. Interesting case overall and worth a meal. The hype is interesting. I wouldn't say it's overhyped, I can see some of the appeal. The palak chaat was strangely redolent of french fries, which is fun; mango shrimp was nicely made; dessert was super great; the entrees' flavors were underdeveloped or even a bit bland. Perhaps this just wasn't for me and my wife--I wouldn't say our palates are super well developed to discern and identify subtle differences between spice mixes in Indian cuisine, even if we know what we like.
So good!!! The crispy spinach is a must! We had both the lamb curry and korma. I preferred the curry but both were delicious!
I feel that the waiters hover too much and like to keep the meal moving. I felt this the last time as well.
Highly over-rated. I am an Indian guy raised here for 35 years. I am a great cook and I make the great Indian food.
I came to celebrate my Birth Day and told them ahead of time. They do not care at all.
Food quantity was too small. Everything was made with tamarind and Mushroom Kadai was horrible.
It is a total waste of money and time.
Feel sad for the Americans to drop their hard-earned money at this place. Go and have a great time in Woodlands and other places in town.
Had been to the other location of Razika a while back and had a wonderful memory, but i was utterly disspaointed this time
Loved everything about it!
Wonderful place to taste India’s delicious flavors!
The food was amazing and generous portions. My friend had never been there and can’t wait to go back. Excellent service as well.
The food was amazing. We only had appetizers and dessert as we were not very hungry. I ordered a fried spinach topped with tomatoes and onions based on the waiter's suggestion. Sounds very simple but it was very surprisingly delicious. We also had fish wrapped in banana leaves. Also top notch!
I had cardamom ice cream and it was also to die for.
The decor was a little bland, but the service and the food were amazing. I would go again.
Fantastic meal , as beautiful as it was delicious. We got an assortment of appetizers and entrees
and shared. It certainly lived up to its reputation. Looking forward to going again.
We enjoy going to Rasika, but this was the first time we tried the Sunday Brunch. The food and choices were great. And for a sunday brunch it worked out great. Also the service was exceptional. The Rasika drink goes perfect with the Sunday brunch.
Always the best food.
The food was great and the atmosphere and service was wonderful, we stayed 4 1/2 hours enjoying the appetizers, main course and desserts.
Excellent as always!!! Never fails to deliver!!
Four diners, four delicious meals. Service was professional and friendly. Second time visiting, brunch on my last visit, which was also excellent.
Incredible- best Indian food ever !
Extraordinary...every time. Every meal I encounter is sublime and memorable. Can’t wait for my next reason to dine there.
I always enjoy Rasika. The high quality, excellent taste and services as well as its consistency is a great attraction. No let down surprises. I love the Palak Chaat, the Mango Shrimp....I could go on and on. I just enjoyed every dish I order each time I go there. Keep up the excellent work. Will be back again.
While our waiter Preddy was very good, we were not too impressed with the Maitre de who was very stand offish and unfriendly. Food was awesome.
I love dining at Rasika. I met a colleague for lunch who I’d lost contact with. We had a wonderful meal-the flash fried spinach appetizer, tandoori lamb and the lamb curry.
This was my first time there but I will be back when I am in D. C.. The food was absolutely delicious!!! The service was great our waitress was very knowledgeable, attentive and accommodating. By all means I will recommend them to everyone. It was also very neat and clean
Good dinner good service.
Great place to bring relatives visiting from out of town! We ordered two rounds of the Theater Menu (each round includes your choice of first course, second course, and dessert) and it was plenty of food for four people to share. Our server was very friendly and helped us navigate the menu. Highly recommend grabbing a drink at the bar before your meal - Ron and Sam are great bartenders who are always down to provide drink recommendations and engage in small talk with the customers :)
Amazing food. Impeccable quality. Wonderful service. Rasika never fails to impress me.
Second visit in 12 months as I live in Georgia and visiting family. Positives: spices are very cleverly blended to produce excellent dishes. Negatives: a bit pricey for what is on the menu but overhead costs are high given the location; we experienced some rather surprising unwanted up selling as we ordered, which I do not appreciate; two of the entree curries were warm rather than thermally hot which should never be the case in a quality establishment.
This and its sister restaurants Rasika and both Bindaas restaurants are the best food you can find anywhere, and I speak as someone born in New York and who lived years in France and Belgium. It is so original and delicious there is no way to compare it with other restaurants.
The quality of the service and the roomy seating at Rasika West End where you never feel that you are overhearing your neighbors or being overheard are added pluses but the food and how it is presented and paired with other dishes are what make Rasika restaurants beyond compare.
This restaurant never disappoints. The seating was private, the selection was superb and the service was attentive
