Rasika West End Ratings and Reviews
What a great restaurant! Having been to the Penn Quarter Rasika quite a few times we decided to try the West End sibling. It easily met our expectations. Our server was skillful and knowledgeable, drinks came quickly, my lactose intolerance was dealt with perfectly, and of course the food was beautiful and delicious! I loved the decor as well; it's more modern and colorful than the PQ location.
This is high quality authentic Indian cuisine seamlessly blended with bits of wonderful creativity. The service was attentive and friendly without being obtrusive. Women in our party had a quibble with the restroom situation. They were directed to a spot with two unisex restrooms and a dedicated men's room; but no restroom dedicated to women.
The restaurant has a great location right in the middle of the busy West End. It is a great location for a business lunch or dinner especially if you are staying at one of the many hotels nearby like the Ritz-Carlton, Marriott or Westin.
The food was very authentic and had great flavor. The servers did a good job explaining the items. The mango shrimp was amazing! My only constructive feedback is about the servers. They could have been more attentive and less "section" focused.
Overall basic Indian food and not overly impressed. Had to wait on water refills several times. Wine list is limited. We ordered a dessert and 2 extra came out that we did not order. We assumed that it was complimentary until the bill came and we were charged for them. Beware!
Everything about Rasika West End was superb. The Indian food is the best I've had anywhere -- even in India. It is innovative and very flavorful. The fried spinach appetizer, the signature dish,- was sublime. The Goan fish curry, made with grouper, was perfect. The service too was great. Only minor negative was that it took about 10 minutes until the valet arrived to park my car.
Always outstanding- I’m always skeptical of fancy Indian restaurants but this one is worth every bit of the hype. Major plus the patio is dog friendly! Love going here before a show. Save room for dessert if you can, but it is difficult given the amazing dinner menu.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The spinach salad was amazing! The table was split on the Tempura Chicken – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. Everyone loved the Chicken Masala. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
if you don't like spicy food, don't go here. waiter recommended a "nonspicy" dish for my husband that was too hot for him to eat. he had to order something else, and we were charged for the dish he couldn't eat as well as the replacement (and not asked if I wanted to take the too spicy dish home). after dinner the manager told him what he "should" have ordered, a little too late. why tell us then? why not educate the waitstaff ahead of time?
The vegetarian dishes were lacking. I got the vegetable korma and my partner had the vegetable lasagna. The korma was flavorless and the vegetables were nearly raw. The vegetable lasagna was slightly better because it had flavor, but even then the flavor was somewhat overwhelming. The atmosphere was pleasant and the server was amazing.
I did like the wine selection and the atmosphere. I think if I ever did go back it would be for a nice glass of wine with a good friend.
We were many do half chose the main tasting menu. The other half chose the vegeterian tasting menu
The shared dishes at the beginning like samosa, the eggplant and the flash fried salad were delicious and of high standard. It weeted our appetite for the main courses to follow
We were exteremely disappointed. The 4 dishes both vegeterian and meat were quite ordinary, buffet style with possible exception of lentils ( veg) and the fish dish ( main)
I would not recommend this place, at least not the tasting menu.
