Rasika West End Ratings and Reviews
We loved the food, but the portions were too large. One of us had the snapper, which could easily have served two. We like to have different tastes, so dislike big portions that limit our ability to order several things. The ambiance is great and our server was fantastic.
This Indian gem never disappoints. Wonderful, flavorful food, beautifully presented with attentive and friendly service, in a very pleasant room. The outdoor tables are also inviting on a lovely day. The crunchy spinach is one of the most delicious things you'll ever taste.
My overall experience was good, it's wasn't a memorable as it was during my last visit. It was a Thursday night, the dining area was very busy - the food came out in stages - the lamb dish was not up to my expectations (over cooked) and the regular water they served tasted a bit off (lots of chlorine), our - over all the experience was good.
Amazing dining experience. Crispy Spinach is a dish to talk about. red Snapper will bring me back every time. The menu is dynamic and the preparation and presentation are top notch. The atmosphere supports both casual and dressy occasions and you don't have to shout to talk to your dining partner. This is an outstanding dining experience.
As is the custom with this restaurant group, I experienced excellent food, as always. Exceptional service, as always. I frequently dine at Rasika, and this was my first time at the West End location. They have done wonderful things with the tighter space, and the food is superb.
Our server was not up to Rasika’s usual standards. Slow to get our drink order (we could see our server and two other employees socializing for ten minutes—it was 5:30 and very few tables occupied) and slow to ask about dessert, which meant no coffee/dessert pre-theater. Rasika can do better!
We go out a lot and this experience was incredible. We were on a time crunch and Ram managed to get us in and out within one hour! And we certainly didn’t skimp in ordering either. We had three courses, several cocktails and even had time for an espresso. Next time we go I want to order everything the same. The flavors were unbelievable. Must haves: palaak chat, tandoori lamb chops, dum ka lobster. Food, service, ambiance were all top notch. Can’t wait to visit again!
My wife and I had the most spectacular meal at Rasika West End last night for our 12 year anniversary.
Our server, Bo (spelling?), was exceptional.
We let him order for us and he did. It let us down.
The spicy fish wrapped in banana leaves was exceptional. So was the lamb chop. No was nice enough to order just one for me so we could try it and not get full.
Also, I had a bit of a head cold and Bo ordered me a Rose tea. So perfect.
Lastly, they treated us to a date pudding cake with cardamom icecream and raspberry sauce.
Am absolutely perfect ending to our trip.
Also, the restaurant is located inside of 3 blocks from both the Fairmont and the Ritz, so it's terribly convenient if you like those hotels.
I took my husband here for his birthday and it took 6 weeks to get a Friday night reservation and it did not disappoint. The service was fantastic -- we had the palak chaat -- fried spinach with yogurt sauce and that was definitely the featured hit. Amazing! Ordered a selection of naan breads and the sweet potato samosa with cranberry chutney. I could have eaten this all night. My husband got the lamb biryani and he loved it -- I got the red snapper with vermicelli and coconut sauce -- I ate every bite. Our server brought us fried donuts and cardamom ice cream to end the night. Even though it was a packed Friday night we waited 10 minutes for our table, and had three servers attending to our needs all night. I ended up not liking the cocktail I got and pushed it aside. The server came over, took it away, and made me the other drink I had been thinking about -- I hadn't told him to make me something new, but he did and it was appreciated. He treated me to the sparkling wine passion fruit cocktail and it was DIVINE. Will definitely come back. We also love Bindaas, but my husband said this place was his favorite!!
I was looking for authentic Indian cuisine in DC and found the ratings on Yelp very good. First of all, the waitress didn't look very happy. We started ordering and at 10 pm she said we cannot order anymore as the kitchen is closing. Our original reservation was for 9.45 pm but we got in early. What would have happened if we came in at 9.45 pm? No food, as the kitchen would close at 10?
We ordered Fish curry and it was just sauce and tamarind. No taste of authentic Indian (south or north) fish curry at all. Veg biriyani was so so. Fish cooked in banana leaf with masala was good. Shrimp masal was horrible. So sour and saucy. No taste of masala.
I guess this place is over-rated and most people who eat there knows what Indian cuisine is like. If you are looking for a high-end place for a drink, this is good, but not for authentic Indian food.
This was our first time here for dinner although we've been may times for lunch. Favorite food was the Palak Chaat although we enjoyed everything we ordered. Least favorite was the Red Snapper entrée it wasn't as flavorable as the other dishes. Sat in a booth which was very nice providing some privacy and shielding us from some of the noise.
