Like it’s Penn Quarter counterpart, Rasika West End serves some of the best upscale Indian food in the city.
Such a wonderful meal again. It’s become one of our favorite restaurants. The server took wonderful care of us and made great suggestions where needed. Look forward to coming back soon!
Always a great meal at Rasika
EVERYTIME, they get it right. Finest Indian food on east coast, with Tamarind in SOHO a second. Servers are well trained and we just request that they curate our meal. We eat here everytime we're in DC. Our trip revolves around this reservation.
Awesome food, amazing service and great atmosphere!!
Was nice to try Rasika West End, but didn't live up to my expectations, unfortunately. While the puri was a delight, fresh tasting and bright, I wish we hadn't order the pappadums, which tasted like they came out of a bag. The main courses (Railway Curry and Lobster Malai) where a bit bland and tasteless - was expecting more here for $28 a plate. The desert of lychee and pomegranate panna cotta had a lovely flavor to it, but too heavy on the gelatine, which made the texture too heavy. Was wishing for more from our experience.
Rasika was fabulous! The food outstanding and the vibe excellent. We sampled the iconic "fried" spinach salad ,followed by the most delicious tandoori salmon ever tasted. The waiter was also very attentive without being overly solicitous.Would eat there weekly if could.
Excellent food as always
Amazing food as always!
Couple next to us paid for our apps and drinks—we had such a splendid meal!
Thoughtful menu, well executed.
Good stuff. Would return. No kingfisher though.
Great restaurant with a creative twist on traditional recipes. Great service. Will definitely be back.
Probably the best Indian food this side of Mumbai. By any measure, the quality, authenticity and uniqueness of the menu is consistently outstanding and worth every repeat visit.
Was tough to get a reservation as this place is very popular.
Signature dishes (crispy spinach, chocolate samosas) were very good.
Wine list was also very good.
Main dishes were also good, not too much food.
Jasmine rice was perfect, but naan was dry and not flavorful
Rasika never disappoints! Excellent food and good service. I took my intern for his birthday lunch. I only mentioned the occasion when I booked it through Open Table and didn’t say anything to the waiter so was pleasantly surprised when he brought a cake at the end! Thank you Open Table and thank you Rasika!!
Amazing food, excellent service and not too expensive.
An authentic Indian restaurant with a wide variety of tasty dishes and very attentive service happy to help you through the options.
Thank you Rasika. We will be back. We enjoyed our early Sunday Evening meal.
When all is said and done I think the food here is fantastic. However, it's clear that not everyone in the kitchen or on the waitstaff understands what a gluten allergy is. I have a severe gluten allergy. Our wait person completely understood and brought us the gluten free menu. After several discussions about the food we still had food with gluten in it brought to our table. If I hadn't been paying attention and questioned more than one person I could've gotten deathly ill. The person that brought one dish to the table told us there was no gluten in the lentils when in fact there was. I also have to take points off b/c I put in my reservation that it was my birthday celebration. No mention of it at all, but the table next to us got a candle in his dessert. We both did the chef's tasting menu paired with wine and a candle would've been appreciated at the end. As I said in the beginning the food is great. I recommend doing the tasting menu. If not you at least have to get the crispy spinach. So good.
Was fantastic! Our server was particularly great and made our brunch super nice.
A friend and I took another friend to Rasika for a birthday dinner. Turns out he had wanted to go there for some time, but never did. He and our other friend were not disappointed, and they could not stop raving about the food, especially the palak chaat, the mango shrimp and the red snapper mappas . The cocktails were well made and strong, I think we got our money's worth! I didn't ask for any special birthday accommodations, but our very attentive server overheard us saying it was a birthday celebration and brought out a scoop of ice cream and gulab jamun with a birthday candle in it - unsolicited - on the house. Very nice of her. I'm vegan and my friends ate several dishes I did not taste, but they said they enjoyed them very much. Aside from the food the place has great ambiance; not too loud but also not some place to have a quiet dinner, either. Before we even realized it we had been sitting for 2 hours. I would definitely dine there again and maybe even try their happy hour, especially with a group or a date.
Wonderful food and service. Will come again.
We wanted to go to the other Rasika on our trip to DC but it was booked out, so we booked a table for two at Rasika West End. We shared a bottle of Varner chardonnay, which was buttery and good value. Our server brought papadums with a spicy mint sauce and a sweet sauce for dipping. We ordered onion naan, chicken tikka masala , lamb korma and dungaree dal. I asked for the dishes to be made extra spicy but our server said that wasn't possible, so he brought us a dish of hot sauce instead. The mains were all sublime, with the dal edging out the meat dishes. The lamb was tender and there was no gristle or fat to deal with . The chicken was tender and tasty. The gravies were flavorful and spicy.
The place was full and there was a nice buzz to it. The wait staff were professional and friendly.
We were not charged for the papadums or hot sauce, which was a nice surprise; lots of Indian restaurants would add an extra charge.
We cook Indian food at home and eat at Indian restaurants when we travel, so we know our way around Indian food. Rasika West End ranks among the best we've visited. So does Rasika for that matter.
Great, creative food. Modern decor, fun environment.
I took stars off because the service was quite poor at this restaurant. The food was delicious. Not only did I wait 20 minutes for my waiter to notice that I was trying to place an order for additional food with him (by which time the food I already had became cold), I also had a waitress ask to move my table out of the way for another guest (they were searching for a dropped ring - totally okay) but then leave without putting my table back. Finally, I asked to have my food packed, and the busboy refused to let me pack my own food away in the boxes after my insistence. The result was that I only got half of my leftovers returned to me. The food is delicious, but I expect better service from a restaurant with Rasika's reputation.
As always, Rasika lives up to its acclaimed status as one of the best restaurants in DC. We enjoyed the signature crispy spinach and mango shrimp appetizers - both delicious. We shared entrees of the black cod and the black lentil Dahl along with the onion and sage naan. All of this was accompanied by a NZ Sauvignon Blanc.
Enjoyable! Delicious! Attentive staff.
Not sure about how healthy food is ( ie. fat content?) even with vegetarian entrees.
The food and service were excellent. It was extremely crowded and the tables are close together, and the noise level was so high that we had trouble hearing each other talking. I will certainly go again, but I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for any kind of intimate conversation.
Rasika has been one of my favorite restaurants over the years of business travel to DC. I recently had the opportunity to take my family for dinner and it was everyone’s favorite of the trip. From the service to the food, Rasika exceeded expectations. The server was able to guide everyone in ordering a perfect meal to be shared family style...and making a recommendation for wine that complimented the food. Thank you for a fabulous evening.
Great food as always the hostess have to work on their attitude. They act like they have no need or desire to help you get seated if you have a late reservation. They treat you like your a nusance, and it’s strange because we’re repeat customers. They need to time there reservations better, because time I’m again they have plenty of empty seating.
Loved the sea bass with tamarind and date sauce, and potato samosas to start were spicy good. The tables are a bit too close together and it was impossible to hear above the noise once the place filled up.
My colleague from Oakland, CA was in town and as usual, Rasika did not disappoint. We were seated in a lovely booth with attentive staff.
My dining experience at Rasika West End was excellent. I've wanted to try Rasika for some time and was able to get reasonably quick reservation at West End. The vibe is upscale, relaxed. While I didn't sit in the bar area, I would definitely come back for the experience as it looked to be a warm and inviting place to meet friends or business partners. Appetizers - Crispy Spinach was delicious but the Fish Chili Garlic stands on its on----perfectly spiced with just the right amount of heat. Enjoyed the Chili Olive Naan although it could use some sort of dipping sauce to soak in all the flavor. Tandoori Chicken was a bit too dry so I replaced it with the Lamb Curry which was EXCELLENT!!! Overall, attentive wait staff and a zen feel to a relaxing meal. The conversation went long and although we didn't feel inspired by the menu to try the desserts, we didn't feel rushed. Worth noting, if you sit near the window booth on a chilly night, you will feel cold. But overall a positive dining experience!!!
Absolutely amazing. Delicious
Our server was awesome and the wine that was recommended was great. The food left all four of us very disappointed. The lamb was tough, the rice was dried out and there was absolutely no thought given to the presentation. We had four different items and each was literally thriwn in a bowl with sauce dripped down the side of the bowls.
Delicious food, great service and lots of gluten free options.
Ordered lobster dish - took 40 minutes. Had to find waiter to ask about status of order. When lobster arrived, it was very under seasoned. Returned the dish.
Ordered the chicken tikka masala as a quick replacement. Cutlery was not replaced. So After nearly an hour I have my main course and nothing to eat it with. Again wait staff was no where to be found. Had to ask greeter to get cutlery.
The chicken tikka masala was edible. Not the best ever and certainly not at the price. To their credit, Rasika did not charge me for the chaat masala. Overall, very disappointing experience.
If you are Indian, looking for good Indian food, this is NOT the place. The food is pretty bad for Indian food. Better to go to your mom + pop shop.
We had the tasting menu and every single thing was incredibly flavorful. Noise level was a bit loud, but we could hear each other without much difficulty. Book well in advance - it's worth it!
We had a thoroughly amazing dinner consisting of palak chat. Cauliflower eggplant appetizers. Tandoori lambchops palak paneer as well as other items. All were excellent and well prepared. We sampled some desserts as well which we enjoyed. The service was excellent
