Rasika West End Ratings and Reviews
Food was outstanding with exception to an inconsistent temperature on the lamb chops. The manager offered to replace it and took it and another dish off the bill to make up for it. Service was perfect. The space is beautiful and while the restaurant was packed to the gills, it still felt intimate.
Excellent nouveau Indian food -- truly delicious, every bite was fantastic. Service at the table was terrific. Hostess could be a bit more polished for a high end place like this. Would definitely like to return (we went for Valentines, the menu was done very nicely, but want to come back for the signature spinach dish). Would have been nice if more vegetables were included with the non-vegetarian dishes we chose -- but really, flavors are just wonderful.
Our server, Joseph was gracious and authentic in wanting my bride and I to enjoy ourselves to a level that I would say he sought to exceed our expectations. The wine I selected from their extensive offerings was an exceptional pairing to the lamb chops, smoked lentils and gobi. The garlic nan and basmati were perfect and the date toffee pudding a desert I now crave. The wine was a 2013 merino mazurka Rioja listed wrongly as 2012. Everything expected in a great example from Spain
Service was phenomenal from start to finish. We arrived a little early and were able to grab some seats at the bar after checking in. The bartender was vey friendly and attentive. The restaurant was hopping, even on a gloomy, rainy day. The waiter had great menu suggestions and the food was just delicious. We never felt rushed and enjoyed a relaxed evening full of amazing aromas and vibrant dishes. We're glad we finally got here (it's often hard to get a reservation unless you're planning ahead, far ahead sometimes) and are already thinking of the next special occasion to return with others.
Love Rasika, and the food is always delicious. Our experience on Friday left a little to be desired, unfortunately. For the first time, it felt like perhaps the restaurant was short-staffed. We will, of course, be back, and just hope next time is a more positive experience!
Innovative dishes, exceptional flavors, and worth every cent! For someone who has grown up eating different Indian cuisines, I was initially hesitant to try a slightly upscale Indian restaurant. However, I was quickly comforted by one of the best meals I have had in DC. I will definitely be going back (and bringing some friends too!)
Food was average, esp the brunch options. Nothing all that special. Our waiter was nice but not informed and seemed to lack knowledge of the menu items. Most of the waitstaff did not speak English. Restrooms are too few for women. Only 2 unisex options and a large bathroom for men, but not for women... at least the waitstaff were not able to guide me to a female only restroom. Very strange experience for a restaurant with such a high reputation. Would not recommend or come again for lunch
When in town, I never fail to eat one meal at this chic Indian restaurant with fabulous food and outstanding service. The palak chaat, (crispy spinach) is a must. Wonderful curries, delicious naan, and the sweet potato samosas never disappoint. Truly an exceptional dining experience.
We were lucky at get a table before 9 pm on Saturday night and we experienced why this restaurant is so popular. The food selection and quality was excellent. Our waiter not only served us but gave us interesting tidbits about preparation and ingredients for dishes we were considering and eating. All and all we had an excellent dinner experience.
We love returning to Washington and going to Rasika. Everything about this restaurant is exceptional. This time our party of four opted for the tasting menu with wine pairing and a few add-ons: the black cod and an additional palak chaat. No matter how many restaurants try to recreate this dish, Rasika owns it’s their kitchen magic with the spinach always wins. The food, the wine, the service are all exceptional.
Rasika West has both excellent cuisine and impressive service. The Indian dishes are among the best prepared in the area (rivaled by its sister restaurants Rasika and Bombay Club) but it’s ambiance is different from the other two—more modern, lively. Unfortunately that means its noise level is rather high. As for the food: truly delicious. We had the tasting menu which started with three appetizers including the phenomenal palak chaat—flash fried spinach. One of the best dishes anywhere! Our tasting menu came with a couple of our favorites besides the palak including murgh tiki masala. The smokey dal was very tasty. The lamb curry was just ok. Extra was a black cod that was phenomenally sweet and moist. While everything was great to amazing although Rasika is very expensive. So, enjoy but be prepared to lay for it.
I am never disappointed with Rasika! There are enough fantastic options on the menu to satisfy every return diner. The spinach is always a favorite; same goes for the cauliflower. Garlic naan is a must-get and the red snapper is fantastic. Great service and great vibes- can’t say enough good things!
