What Insiders Are Saying
One of the best options for both Indian and a fine dining experience in the city.
Excellent service and unusual take/ ingredients for I Dian food. They were efficient and quick but courteous and mindful.
I am uncertain of when the restaurant closes on Sunday nights (as it says they're closed on Sundays on their website) but I was able to make reservations for 9:30pm. When we arrived, they told us the kitchen was closing in a few minutes which was odd. There shouldn't be reservations available that late if the staff was going to keep rushing us through our meal. Rather disappointed at the service for a place with this much praise.
Food wise, it was excellent. We had the crispy spinach dish which was my favorite!
Best Indian food ever! Our server was delightful. Atmosphere lovely
The only thing that I didn’t like is I have eaton here many times here and on Sunday I came out and smelled like the restaurant and food.... maybe grill / ducts need through cleaning. But everything was excellent besides that.
Still a great experience after all these years. Reasonable prices for a high end restaurant. Even the wines by the bottle are very approachable.
I've been to Rasika numerous times in past years (at both locations), and typically have a wonderful time. The food is always fantastic, especially the Palaak Chaat which is worth the visit alone.
However, this last time I felt compelled to wrap up our reservation sooner than expected due to the staff looming by our table which was obviously a hint to move on so another group could take our table of four. I understand the need to avoid folks loitering but our bill was over $200 and we had someone still finishing dessert. Our table had limited alcohol so that might have been a factor as well as the drinks were not coming. Didn't ruin the night, but did make us feel rushed which was a downer.
We loved everything about Rasika. The food was amazing and I don’t think I will ever be able to eat cheap Indian food again.
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and energetic. It was loud, but we had an awesome table in the corner and it felt like we were in our own little world.
I absolutely recommend
Service was fantastic however food was just okay. Was a bit disappointed having read all of the hype. We are experienced in the Indian space and missed some of the tradional flavor and my korma was bland. Really felt like we paid for service and atmosphere.
My husband and I took a spur of the moment trip to Washington DC and wanted to experience a nice restaurant. I ran across the reviews for the restaurant and immediately booked a reservation. The food was amazing, as was the service.
Service excellent as well as food but it was very noise, hard to here each other.
This place never fails to please!
Flavors are so well balanced and delicious. It is fancy and swanky and fabulous. Too expensive to eat there all the time but it's one of my favorites!
They even served me a birthday desert with candle gratis!
Amazing in every regard
Excellent... Very innovative dishes, a modern twist to the the indian favorites. Our server Sarah, was incredible, she made on-point suggestions and made our anniversary celebration even more special. Will definitely return.
The food was awesome. They were super busy, so weren't able to seat us for at least 30 minutes after our reservation time. They handled it well, however, giving us a round of champagne and an appetizer on the house.
Always a great meal, starting with the spinach and sole appetizers. Chicken tikka, duck vindaloo, halibut and salmon were all great. Thanks.
As usual, phenomenal food and impeccable service. The Palaak Chaat remains our favorite appetizer and we had flavorful lamb and chicken dishes for the mains. Wonderful gluten free dessert with sticks of something pistachio flavored and saffron flavored that I can’t remember the name of!
This restaurant should not be classified as Indian. The dishes we ordered looked like Indian food but were either tasteless or if chicken , a combination of chicken bouillon and salt .
I am Sri Lankan and have eaten my share of curries all over the USA and world . This was awful . Do not eat here and waste your money .
It should have been a sign when there was not a single Asian/Indian person in the restaurant!
Take heed or be sorely disappointed.
The well travelled Sri Lankan Doctor
6 of us arrived on a Thursday evening with a reservation for dinner. This was our first time here and our waiter was so helpful, as we had no experience with Indian food. The food and service were amazing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Awesome service!!! Food was amazing!! Gregory was best waiter!! And head manager was so attentive & provided exceptional service...loved it!!
This is our work go to place when we want to celebrate someone's birthday or just have a nice lunch for whatever reason. We go to the Penn Quarter one. I had a dinner party for my parents at the one near Georgetown. The food and service were not nearly as good as the one in Penn Quarter.
Awesome experience. Food was great. Palak (Spinach) Chaat is a must try!
The food was mostly very good; the chicken and lobster, the plantains. The kale fritters weren't my jam. Pam was our waitress, she was upbeat and cool despite how crazy busy they were. This place was hopping! We went for a two person, low-key dinner and it was, all told pretty good. About what you expect for a fancy downtown restaurant on a weekday. It hit the marks, the only place it excelled was the staff.
My favorite restaurant in DC. Always outstanding food. I bring all guests to dine at Rasika!
Outstanding food and service. The tasting menu was phenomenal; the first dish was fantastic and only surpassed by each of the seven following courses.
Everyone in our party enjoyed our selections of shared dishes. Our waiter was very helpful, this being our first visit, by providing excellent recommendations. They also provided a comp dessert for our birthday girl. The crispy spinach and the red snapper were especially enjoyed.
Visited for my sons birthday. It was a wonderful experience.
We had an amazing luncheon at Rasika today to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable and welcoming. The food was like eating happiness.
Our family has a tradition of celebrating the day after Thanksgiving at Rasika, and we were exceptionally pleased this year. We had a fabulous quiet table for 6 and the service was outstanding! Love Rasika, the best Indian cuisine in DC or for that matter, anywhere I have been.
Rasika is an upmarket Indian restaurant with top-notch food and service. I enjoyed a fillet of sole appetizer cooked in Indian spices. My lamb main dish was spicy and flavorful . The cardamon ice cream was a nice way to end a delicious meal. This restaurant is worth a splurge.
We have been to several indian cuisine but nothing beats the one from Garmisch. Quality of service were outstanding, it was crowded on a weekday lunch, and we book this reservation a month ago. Our food was good but not great. Overall we still recommend this place to our friends.
AMAZING service, FANTASTIC food!
Best Indian restaurant in DC and possibly the country. Very creative menu and service is superb.
We have celebrated at Rasika downtown for over a decade, and they never fail to impress! They deliver the perfect blend of spices and complexity that is unmatched in the USA. Hats off for improving your game with age!
Good Appetizers but the curries in the main course were a bit spicy. The whole garam masala was too overpowering...
We had a great time. Everyone enjoyed the food, ambiance and the service
Rasika is an outstanding restaurant with wonderful food. My daughter visiting from Denver insisted that we come here to eat. We came for lunch and it met all of our wishes. We will be back, even without her. Keep on doing what you do so well.
One of the most incredible meals I have ever experienced. The cuisine, service, and atmosphere were outstanding. The staff are highly professional and the flavors and textures of every dish were phenomenal. Special recognition to the sommelier for the exquisite wine pairings.
Great food and great ambiance. I do highly recommend that you make reservations as we dined on a Monday to a packed house.
They have an extensive menu and if you are vegan or vegetarian, you are in for a real treat. My party dined on mainly vegan and vegetarian options and we were all pleased...
The garlic naan with herbs, roti and the goat cheese kulcha were our choices of bread. My favorite was the goat cheese.
Avocado banana chaat was interesting; so much so, we ordered a second dish. The palat chaat was really good!
The black cod melted in my mouth, the gobhi mattar and raingan mirch ka salan were also very tasty.
I enjoyed my meal at Rasika, but few dishes stood out. With the exception of the palak chaat and duck vindaloo, which are unique and outstanding, I have had better versions and larger portions of most dishes at other Indian restaurants for significantly less. For me, Rasika isn't worth the premium.
We were seated in front window which was quieter and let us catch up with an old friend without yelling. Perfect!! We have eaten her quite a few time. Food is always great.
