I have read the great reviews of Rasika for a long time. I wish that I had acted sooner, when I think of all the fabulous meals I could have enjoyed. It was lovely, it was delicious. We could not order enough dishes to explore the possibilities. We will return.

Positives:
Paalak chaat - amazing.
Reshmi Kebab - tender and excellent
They served my wife who was celebrating her birthday cardamom ice-cream and gulab jamun on the house. We appreciate the gesture!

Negatives:
Entree duck vindaloo had no semblance to anything vindaloo. It was immersed in a weird sweet tomato soup that tasted like it came directly out of a can.
Entree chicken hariyali - mediocre, a bit too salty. Chicken was not tender.

The service was very good, almost makes up for the mediocre entrees.

As always, consistently great. Late lunch so we could take our time and talk and catch up and enjoy the food flavors. Waiter was very patient and attentive.

Very deft execution of cooking using quality ingredients and spices. While not cheap, this dining experience is worth the trip for a sampling of "modern" Indian cuisine that is unique from other typical Indian food fare.

My wife and I ate dinner at Rasika while I was in DC for business. We really enjoyed the food at Rasika and the prices were very reasonable for the quality. Our only issue was our waitress. She did not explain the menu to us like she did to the table right next to us, she did not offer more drinks, and was generally inattentive. We needed separate checks so I could expense my meal but she acted like this was a huge inconvenience.

Overall, Rasika was great, our server was not.

Rasika was, as usual, fantastic. I wanted something but couldn't find something like it on the menu and the server immediately offered to bring something not on the menu. It was a wonderful dinner.

Agree with Tom Sietsma - a fantastic Indian dining experience. The host, Mr. Santosh Bodke, was most courteous. As it was a Saturday evening, the restaurant was full and lively. We were meeting friends for dinner and he seated us promptly and in a quiet spot conducive to conversation.

We live in Portland, Oregon and whenever we head to DC, we head to Rasika.

One of the best meals in D.C. in many years. The food is amazing, fantastic vegetarian options (and I’m not a vegetarian), good value for money, we’re definitely returning to try literally all other dishes on the menu!

Though they were very busy, the staff was attentive, friendly, and efficient. The food was excellent. Several of us had the prix fixe dinner and it was the perfect way to try several items. One person in our party is a vegetarian and there were wonderful choices for her. Another person in our party wanted spicy food and he got spicy! I don't know much about Indian food but everything I ate was great. The desert was very different -- didn't look appetizing but it was delicious.

It was my first visit. We booked ages in advance and got a 2:30 lunch date for my husband's birthday. Which was fine, but I don't know if I'd bother having to try that hard to get a dinner reservation. The food was really nice, but there are plenty of neighborhood restaurants with fine Indian food, at much lower prices! I have never had better palak chaat! Otherwise we wouldn't go there that often because of the high prices and difficulty in making a reservation. Oh, they did bring a lovely dessert with a candle, which we were not expecting! If you want to see and be seen, it's a good spot but we are not into that, plus I don't think a two o'clock lunch is the right time for that!

Arranging a reservation, and changing a reservation handled gracefully. Hospitality, and service were excellent; friendly and efficient. Our waiter was courteous, attentive and friendly. House cocktail was interesting , well conceived and very good. Suggested appetizer (crispy spinach) was very good. Our lamb entree was, thankfully, tender and delicious. They are not afraid to use salt, so asking for a restricted diet substitute, or alteration may be in order if needed. I would certainly recommend and will likely return.

One of our friends told us that we can’t get a reservation for three weeks in this restaurant and we checked online and we couldn’t get a table for three weeks so we booked the table and on the day of booking we drove from Boston to Washington Dc its about 500 miles almost took us 11 hours to reach there and we made well before time of our reservation. So we went in ordered our food and after eating it was just average food. We have eaten food in many Desi restaurants across east coast and this restaurant was no special. For people living in town it might be a good option but not worth traveling. Some good Desi restaurant i would recommend is Tamarind Tribeca in Newyork city its michelin star restaurant and worth going. One more restaurant i can suggest is in Philadelphia is called indeblue. These restaurants are worth traveling for and by far best Desi cuisine i came across. Rasika is just not upto the mark.

I have eaten at Rasika many times and this is the first time I've never had a great experience. We were seated shortly after our reservation time and our waitress came over immediately. We ordered some appetizers since we were hungry but it took a while for her to return to take our order for main courses. Then it took forever for them to arrive. The waitress did apologize for the delay (though with no explanation) but we were about to order the check and leave just as they finally arrived at the table. To add to my disappointment, half the dishes seemed overcooked, especially the (normally excellent) chicken tikka masala.

Having raved about Rasika to the friends who joined me, I was disappointed they didn't have a better experience.
