Rascals Tavern Greensboro
Great food!! We had the poutine, and my husband could not stop eating it! Can’t wait to try their brunch!
A friend and I had dinner at Rascals Tavern earlier this week. She is a vegetarian, and was presented with the most beautiful plate of veggies! She was delighted and so was I. It was her first time at Rascals and we could not have asked for more. Great, knowledgeable bartender and a greeting from the Chef/Owner topped off our evening. We will be back! Thanks for a lovely evening.
Good brunch , large portions and good flavor combinations . Bottomless mimosa is great! The blueberry pancakes are really good! Two folks in our party did not care for the omelette . They said the texture was off, it was more like a frittata not an omelette .
Rascal’s is a real hidden gem in Greensboro. The food is phenomenal, and the service is excellent. Cannot recommend it enough!
Hidden gem in Greensboro. Food always exceeds expectations and Rascals never disappoints. My “go to” brunch spot.
Wait staff was very attentive to us but it took around 40 minutes to get our food once ordered. Mimosas were good and overall, it was OK. The fried green tomato benedict was good, could've used a bit of crunch, but was enjoyable. The corned beef hash was way too salty on one half (not sure why it wasn't consistent). Will go back but likely not for brunch.
Father’s Day brunch
Excellent food and service as always!
Quality of food was well worth the effort to get the attention of staff for service!
We love Rascals Tavern for any meal, but Mother's Day was a home run! The special brunch menu was outstanding, the food was amazing, everything was on point! Jess is so creative and comes up with amazing dishes. Clare had the Mother's Day reservations well organized. It was a great experience.
Rascals Tavern has a cool vibe and excellent bar & drink menu. We went on a Wednesday night and were hoping for more than sandwiches and salads (which is on their standard menu) for dinner. There was only one 'chef entrée' that night so not much of a selection. Would have like to known that before going. Overall I still recommend others try it out!
I thought it was nice. The wait staff took much time to speak with us. They made me feel welcome. The food was very good with a different spin on things. The cook took the time to come out and speak with us, which I thought was great. I will definitely come again.
Great food at a very reasonable price. The dishes are creative and tasty and the portions are generous. We will make this a regular dining destination for both brunch and dinner!
Very welcoming. Perfect ‘dinner and drinks’ spot.
Two of my colleagues and I were in town for HPMKT and stopped in here for a bite. What a GREAT pick! The food was outstanding. The menu is very creative. All of our choices were wonderfully delicious! The chef came out to our table to introduce herself. You can tell she loves what she does. Her proud momma was the hostess the night we were there and was very welcoming. There was live music, which was excellent. It was a bit loud, which was fine with us. Our table was right next to the musician, but we were still able to enjoy our conversation. We wish we had time to return for a second visit, but time didn’t permit it. We’ll definitely go back here on our next trip to NC! Great new restaurant!
This spot is locally opened by the Chef. She has nice twists on Tavern staples like philly cheese steak. She keeps the menu simple but adventurous. The only issue I had was not sure who was our primary waiter and who was on drive by. But they were very attentive. It is a small space so reservations are helpful. I will be going back.
What a wonderful experience. Love the atmosphere. Casual and fun. The outside patio makes you feel right at home, and you would never know you are in Golden Gate Shopping Center! The food was creative and impressive. Good wine list too! Just love the size and everything about this place!
My wife and I decided to try Rascals Tavern because one of her friends had recommended it. The food was very good and we had reserved a table on Opentable and were seated very quickly. My alone complaint was the servers were nice but we were left feeling we were being rushed out. I had ordered one drink and I had finished it about half way thru the meal and was never offered another and when we had finished our entrée my wife had mention the desserts but the guy come by and handed me the check and said he would be back to get it. As we were leaving we passed a waitress that was going over the desserts with another table. I guess it worked out we drove over to Maxie B's on Battleground and had coffee and cake for dessert. I want say I want come back but probably want recommend it to any one either.
The food was fabulous!!! Everyone at the table raves about all we ate. The drinks were good and service amazing. We will be back again and again
The food and service was good, but the music was way too loud for that small space. It was not pleasant.
Fabulous food, fabulous staff, fabulous chef, cozy atmosphere and great live music!!
Wonderful and creative brunch!
Live music tonight was a welcome surprise!
Fantastic place with an amazing staff. They make you feel truly welcome the whole time you’re there. They go out of their way to make your experience a memorable one. The food is delicious as well! You can truly tell the chef puts everything into each dish. Highly recommend this place!!!
My husband and I ate here for the first time on a recent Friday night. The place was packed! We had several servers helping us, and the service was attentive, but one of the servers seemed to be so tired that she could barely talk. Fortunately, we also were taken care of by people with more energy and enthusiasm. The wine list is rather limited, but we enjoyed a nice red blend. The food menu is also limited. In addition to their regular offerings, there were 2 specials that night. My husband ordered a burger off the regular menu, which he said was cooked to a perfect medium. I ordered the tilapia special. The seared fish was buried beneath so many ingredients and flavors that it was hard to locate. We consider ourselves foodies and enjoy unusual combinations of flavors, but this was over the top. I would highly recommend to the chef to simplify just a little. Overall, the fish dish was overpowered by the flavor of balsamic vinegar and added salt. We both see potential, and we'll probably return, but we'll stick with a sandwich or burger next time.
The music was way too loud for 7pm and for the tiny space. The musician was incredibly talented but too loud for the space and time of night when diners are trying to talk to each other.
We we're so pleasantly surprised by this little hidden gem. We got lucky enough to try it for Valentine's. The staff is beyond friendly, super attentive...we even got to meet the Owner/Chef....I had surf and turf...filet and lobster tail...he had pork brisket. Both dishes had the most amazing mixes of tastes on one plate!!! I am not a vegetable fan ...the mix on my plate had me gobbling them all. And that dessert...a chocolate dome which when melted by the hot sauce poured on top, was a most amazing bananas foster. We will most definitely be back and recommending it to friends!!
Very good lunch and terrific service.
We had a great Valentine's date night at rascals. Everything was great I don't have any complaints. The food was delicious, the presentation of the food was top notch. I enjoyed the Surf and turf and my Bf got the pork brisket with the Mexican street corn which he enjoyed as well. I also tried the drink special of the night which was the chocolate covered strawberry martini which was very tasty. I also like the fact that the owner took the time to hand write thank you notes for her guest to thank them for coming to the establishment. Superb and very thoughtful. I will definitely return
This little Greensboro, NC gem delights the senses. It’s very friendly inside. Ignore the strip center and walk through the door to wooden walls, a nice bar, live music many nights, and warm lighting. The staff is incredibly friendly, almost like family.
Chef Jess is gifted! I’ve been to many restaurants in my life and I know talent when I see it. Everyone in our party enjoyed their drinks and dishes. I opted for vegetarian the last two times I’ve been there. The vegetarian dishes have been flavorful and creative. As my sister-in-law, and sister vegetarian would say, “ it’s a party in your mouth”. While the vege dishes are not usually listed on the menu, Jess will create something special with whatever she has on hand. Tonight I had a couscous, asparagus, pepper, mushroom medley. It was great. My husband got the pork brisket with a plentiful assortment of root vegetables, peppers, and a roasted corn-on-the-cobb with ponzu sauce, artfully centered on the plate. (see picture) He gave me a few bites and it was delicious. Last time we were here, he had a burger, and it was anything but ordinary. He said it was perfect, and please don’t get me started on the fries and fried green tomatoes. Last, but not least, let me tell you about Jess’ chocolate ball foster. It’s served as a ball of chocolate, then warm sauce is poured on top, and it melts into a banana foster delight. It’s crazy that anyone knows how to make something like that.
I’ve heard that the Sunday brunch is really good, and I look forward to trying it.
What are you waiting for? Go eat at Rascal’s, and let me know what you think.
Our first time to Rascal's - we will definitely go back!! Hidden gem.
So this took the place of the old melt location. Owner has done a good job with the transformation and new identity. We had a reservation but were not given a choice of high top or regular table. Took a little longer than normal for drink orders to be taken. Ordered apps and then when given dinner specials, were told only 1 or 2 left of each. Our reservation was for 7:15. Don't think you should run out of specials that early. Apps came...poutine, scoth eggs, and date special. Sorry to say that qas the best food of the night. Tuna special had green olives and capers, and was too salty for the 2 who ordered it. Mahi special was less than appealing with wilted asparagus. The burger was average at best. Will probably come back another time...but maybe give it a couple of months
Great customer service. I have eaten here several times and the food is always delicious. But they were out of my favorite dish at my last visit. The management and waitress handled the situation perfectly. I will definitely keep going back.
Absolutely amazing food. Great live music on saturdays. Cozy and comfortable atmosphere fit for a multitude of occasions.
This was an amazing experience here at Rascals Tavern!!! We will return and bring more friends!!!!
My friends and I decided to give this place a try for supper and have found a hidden gem!!! Its somehow casual and cozy and yet refined and intimate. The bar is heavily stocked and there is no shortage of food options whether you are vegetarian or love some red meat!! Will make this our regular spot from now on.. hands down.
