Rasa: Flavours of India
This restaurant has a great atmosphere. Service is top notch with staff that are attentive to ur table without interrupting. The food is the best outside of the UK that we’ve had.
The food was great. However the problem was with Open Table! I initially booked the table for 1930 and then changed to 2015. I received confirmation from Open Table and the day before a text asking if I would confirm my reservation, which I did. When I arrived Rasa informed me my table was given away as I had not arrived in time for 1930. I explained and proved by way of emails and texts that my reservation had been amended . They were insistent that it wasn’t their fault and that Open Table had not informed them. We were eventually given a table but it took a long time and we felt that we were not welcome and felt rushed. We were so looking forward to the food (which was great), but the overall experience was tainted .
This is the best Indian food in HRM! I would highly recommend Rasa.
Wonderful to be back. Comfortable while observing the restrictions. Food was as good as remembered except for the appetizers that were a bit disappointing. A glitch due to the present circumstances I am sure.
The food was plentiful and literally out of this world in regards to flavour and freshness. We dined in and the food arrived quickly, was very hot and delicious with large portion sizes, a really good value for the price. All four of us were very pleased with our meals and the ambience of the restaurant. The lighting was low and the space was very clean and comfortable. We were seated quickly upon arrival, I recommend reservations because the place did fill up fast. The tables were neatly spaced out with lots of room between guests, it was a very quiet and relaxed atmosphere, great for a date or casual night out with friends. My only complaint was in regards to covid precautions, our server was excellent in regards to service and attitude, but they were wearing their mask incorrectly. It was lowered below their nose making it completely ineffective for both the wearer and the guest. I would rather see the server NOT wear a mask, than wear in ineffectively. Staff may need to have further discussions about PPE and how it works, and why you wear it. Ask questions and express opinions/complaints openly. Maybe the current masks given to employees are too big or uncomfortable, there are many styles and designs out there, made locally as well. Education and understanding with a willingness to explore new options will benefit us all in this "new normal". I understand that working in a kitchen environment during the summer may make wearing a mask very uncomfortable, so maybe look at masks made from different types of material as well, something layered but with lighter material may feel a little cooler in the heat. This complaint does not affect my 5 star rating, this is definitely my new favourite restaurant and I highly recommend it to others. I felt safe in the restaurant and our server took proper social distancing measures and we definitely left a generous tip. I look forward to visiting again in the future.
Excellent, on all fronts: the food was outstanding, the service impeccable, and the ambiance was great. Rasa also did a superb job with distancing and masks -- felt safe, happy, and pampered!
Excellent food and friendly service. Recommended.
Delucious meal, best Indian food I have had in Halifax! Grear service too. Highly recommend!
My son and I had an amazing experience. Our first visit of a restaurant after Covid -19.
Everyone and everything was very professional. I will definitely go back!
Absolutely fantastic food and service. Would recommend this restaurant highly.
This is our go to restaurant in town before a Mooseheads game! Everything is excellent! Food, service, ambiance warm and friendly! It is classy and great value! So glad to have Rasa close by!
The food and service was wonderful! Delicious flavours, great choices and service was awesome, we will return.
Fantastic food, and excellent staff. The premises are clean and well kept. A great dining experience. The only down side i found was that the bill at the end of the evening was a little higher than i would have expected compared to other restaurants in the area. Definitely a place worth going to but not something i could afford on a regular basis.
Best Indian food in Halifax.
A lovely evening. First of all we love the cocktails from the adjoining Sura so ask for that cocktail menu. They will get them from Sura. Food was excellent and the service was friendly, helpful and informative. We tried new dishes and they were all delicious. We will be back again.
Lovely decor, great service, extensive menu - all around good value for the money. Always look forward to a meal at Rasa.
The staff at RASA were terrific and were able to accommodate everyone’s dietary preferences in our party from dairy free to vegan.
This is our favourite spot in the city. The food is spicy and full of flavour. The meats a fresh and juicy. The service is attentive and polite. We love it.
Vakentines was a RIPoff. Price wasn't posted or on the menu and ended up $200. It's too bad because the serving size was sufficient, presentation very nice and for the most part delicious. Ambiance was pleasant with live music. They should have communicated the price and let the customer make the decision. Regular menu looks appealing and reasonably priced.
Incredible experience! Staff were polite, gentle, and knowledgeable. Food was top notch. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Delicious, prompt service. Quiet ambience
My husband and I had a wonderful meal at Rasa on Saturday evening, February 8, 2020. Service was very attentive. We enjoyed complimentary crispy poppadoms to start, served with a delicious green yogurt sauce and pickled carrot sticks and red onion. Our starters included crispy prawns pakora (flavourful crispy coating and juicy interior) and onion bhajiya, both perfectly deep-fried and delicious. Our main dishes included scrumptious chicken korma (chicken cooked in a cashew nut sauce, garnished with nuts and raisins) and lamb biryani (delicious chunks of lamb in saffron rice). The locale is very pleasant. Afterwards, I enjoyed chatting with the owner who recently located to Halifax from New Delhi in May 2017. Everything is authentic. We will definitely return, and rate everything as being 5 Stars!
We had a wonderful experience at Rasa and were impressed by the atmosphere and food. Our server was helpful explaining some questions we had about the menu. We were disappointed with the wine menu however. There were only a few white options, a strange range of prices and not typical varietals to pair with Indian food.
If you are looking for great quality Indian food in Halifax, look no further. Rasa has good of variety of meal choice without being overwhelming there is definitely something for everyone on the menu. The food lived up to the description on the menu and was full of flavour and tasted great. The appetizers were also very good - try the Maharaja appetizer selection - plenty for 2 people and very tasty.
We would definitely visit again.
Tasty and flavorful authentic Indian food. The skilled wait staff are attentive, communicative and helpful.
Amazing service. We were treated so well. Food was fabulous! Thanks for a lovely evening.
Rasa is probably the best Indian restaurant in Halifax .
They offer a good selection of Indian dishes, including vegetarian options, and the service is very good and polite. We really loved a our curry dishes that were spiced according to our wishes. Also, the raita was very good and generous. The filled chicken was not much given the price and the basket of Indian bread was only ok.
We will certainly come again and are glad that Halifax has now a decent Indian restaurant.
Frankly, it was great. We had their New Year's Eve special (an option to have a series of samples from each of the entrees, sides appetizers and desserts). Each one was prepared wonderfully. It was a great balance of spiciness without overwhelming the taste of each dish. The meats were wonderfully juicy and tender.
Our waiter was attentive and gave great recommendations which we happily followed. Perhaps the only slight critique was that he was a little bit soft spoken and his voice was sometimes lost in the table next to us which was an extended family with multiple young children.
We will be going back and recommending to others.
Food was normal. I expected differently. But the service was good.
We were nit disappointed with the wonderful welcome, excellent service and superbly cooked food! Rasa is by far the best and most authentic Indian cuisine east of Toronto!
And with their newly opened Sura Lounge and bar, the combination is great for both casual and fine dining! With awesome cocktails to try.
Prompt and friendly service. Delicious food and generous portions. Can’t wait to return!
lovely food. Very nice atmosphere and food very tasty.
Best Indian Food I have ever had in North America. Great Food. Service was good. Friendly. Wine list needs improving. Very limited, and cocktails. Would be nice if the alcohol was a bit more extensive. My margarita, was not good. But the food. Fabulous. Can’t wait to go back
Delicious food,great ambience,great service,enjoyable
Great food, great experience. Loved the idea of sharing the plates. Would recommend it.
Good good good
This is the second time I have eaten here and it was just as wonderful as the first!
