I suppose if you like your steak with no flavor other than a slight char you might enjoy Rare. After viewing several articles declaring Rare as one of the best stock houses in NJ, I had them on my radar for some time. I finally made my reservation, and was quite excited to experience this highly recommended meal. Unfortunately, I was left beyond disappointed. It was bad enough the temperatures requested were way off on both my companion, and my steak, the meat itself was tasteless! One undercooked steak(cowboy) was returned to be cooked a bit more, and one overcooked steak(filet mignon) had to be remade. The waiter and matrede both viewed the steaks and agreed they were not as requested. Now to the flavor. The rib steak was quite tough, and tasteless. When I questioned the staff on the seasoning used they claimed they only use salt, pepper, and oil. I didn't even detect those basic flavors. The filet was also tasteless, but with it being a different cut of meat was at least tender. The cowboy was returned, and taken off the bill. I did not request anything else as I already know their meats were not seasoned in the manor I prefer. Anyone can take a piece of meat and throw it on a fire. It is preparation, seasoning and cooking methods that create a great steak. How this establishment is considered a "good" steakhouse is beyond me. Perhaps it's the upscale expectation, and limited selection of a la carte restaurants in NJ that have some convinced that this is a quality establishment. For me it was a complete letdown, and I would never recommend, nor dine there again.

It has a good ambiance. It’s not exactly quiet, but not so loud that you can’t have a conversation. The steak was tender and very good. The macaroni and cheese was good as well. Service was perfect.

Sat down order two drink when they arrived waiter ask for apps order 2 and he ask if we were ready to order main,I said was not ready to order he said chef wants whole order so my wife asked ask about rib eye how big was it open up his fingers and said about this size.this was my second time we were there in 3 weeks.1st time was a different experience a serving table was brought over to show different cuts and explained cuts of steak,rib eye was not good for the price nor was my steak,felt rush and probably not go back.to spend almost $300 and feel rushed mite b the second waiter looking to turn table faster.we don't hang after dinner I had other plans

Great food. Not so great service. The Maitre D seated us at a table that was right next to a main pathway for diners and servers, which was a little annoying. Our waiter, Nicos, seemed friendly at first but then acted like he did not hear me when he walked by. When I asked him later to ensure that he heard what I said earlier, he appeared to be annoyed, and said he did hear me. The Maitre D that seated us was very helpful with the payment. I really enjoyed the filet minion with a side of creamed spinach.

Beautiful decor/lighting, food was absolutely wonderful. The moment we sat down we were greeted by the incredible and knowledgable waitstaff who promptly took our drink orders and answered our menu questions. We ordered the calamari+shrimp, bone in tomahawk ribeye cooked medium, side of smoked bacon along with 2 desserts and it was all delightful. Although I must admit that the menu is a bit pricey when considering the, in my opinion, portion sizes on the small side, but this certainly isn’t a place you go if you're on a budget. I highly recommend this steakhouse and will likely be returning.

The food was good. My children loved the meatballs. My husband loved his meal, which was the homemade pasta with vodka sauce. I ordered the lobster special which was OK, but I would not order it again. The crowd was lively and loud . It wasn’t offputting, but you definitely needed to lean in to hear the people at your table. The bar area seemed quieter. Staff was super polite, and when any requests were made, they were fulfilled quickly . I would’ve just preferred them to come around a little bit more often to check in. all in all, I’d go back with my husband for a meal (probably request to sit in the bar area). Drinks were great.

From Steve the Maitre ‘d to Tony our waiter, the experience was exceptional! It was a close friend’s birthday and I called the restaurant bc I had some special menu requests. He was amazing. The corner table was perfect. The food was fabulous. Recommend highly!

Dining with a party of 5 on a busy Friday evening, we were seated upstairs next to an incredibly loud disrespectful party of 10. Nothing is worse then not being able to hear your guests because of surrounding guests. The linen we were seated at should of been thrown out instead of recycled as it has children’s flower drawings. I’m a sales manager in the industry and this is not up to fine dining standard. The food was good but lacked flavor.

I’m still waiting for my Diet Coke. The manager does a great job, but his floor staff seems disinterested. The chef will only give the steaks the temperature he likes, no discussion.

I looked up the best steakhouses in NJ and found this gem, Rare. My boyfriend loves his steaks and is quite the “foodie.” He was very impressed with all that Rare had to offer. From our martinis to our desserts, we had a delicious experience. We will most certainly be back!
