The service here is outstanding. The food was excellent. It’s a pricey place when you include drinks but I highly recommend it. Appetizers were fantastic. One of the best Caesars I’ve had. The steaks are large portions and should be shared. Wasn’t busy or lively.

Overpriced for what you get. The server treated us like we were white trash once we ordered small meals and was very inattentive even though the restaurant was nearly empty. The creamed spinach was lukewarm but we couldn’t find the server so we ate it. Disappointed in my birthday dinner.

This has become our celebratory place for steaks. It is quiet, fast and the food is always amazing and perfectly cooked. I was a little concerned being more of a chain but it is so good!

For the money, not the best experience. We were out the door almost $500 with tip, dinner for two. A couple of high end cocktails, two rib eyes and some a-la carte sides, a tiny dessert. Is what it is on pricing, but the restaurant was noisy, we were sat near loud young people cursing up a storm, the maitre d’ had a less-than-friendly arrogant vibe to him, and the server seemed annoyed every time she had to top off our water. On the bright side, the steaks were excellent, prepared to perfection. The sides were mediocre. Usually I would not leave this type of review, but for the money, I have had much better experiences and food that is on par, for a fraction of the level this establishment values their service. Recommendations - when the noise level rises in that way, bordering on crass and offensive, remember you have patrons that are paying premium prices and expect more from your establishment. We will not be returning.

First time at RARE and it was exceptional. Celebrating a birthday with a business colleague, and didn't disappoint. Food was exceptional, especially the Capital Cut Steak. Coupled it with an incredible 2000 Chateau Lafron-Rochet Grand Cru. Just awesome! Will be back next time i am in DC.

On a Friday night, we were essentially rushed/kicked out of the restaurant all because we made the mistake of making a reservation for 8:30pm. This restaurant is 1 block from the White House and I would expect that, on a Friday night, there would be a sense that 4 friends (2 couples) out to a dinner wouldn’t be rushed through each course. When we sat down the server told us the kitchen was closing at 9:00 so we had to get our orders in. Then, the same server rushed us through each course. We were told the last call for drinks from the bar was 10pm. There was a huge birthday party group in there, a table next to us of 2 people, and us — otherwise the place was empty. One of the people in our group said something out loud about, “I think they want to kick us out of here.” And, I think our server heard that and became irate because his attitude with us after that was plain rude - he even went so far as to say, “We need to go, we need to get home to our families.” In all my years of dining out in DC, I’ve never heard anyone say such a thing. There was not a proper goodbye or even thanks for coming. Very sad to be out to a rare night out and have it come with such awful service. I guess this place does well on weeknights and perhaps lunch. The food was solid and good quality, but to be rushed and talked to like that was unacceptable. I won’t return — unless it’s to get a cocktail.

Everyone liked their food--all reported excellent steaks and seafood. Mushrooms, corn, potatoes were all good. One negative was the creamed spinach--too much flour. The service was excellent--attentive and friendly.

海外出張の自身への慰労で利用しました。お店は間接照明を使ったとても落ち着いた雰囲気です。 14ozのNYSTRIPステーキとビアネーズソース(お酢とマヨネーズを合わせたソース)、ドリンクはビールを注文しました。ステーキは、外側をこんがりと焼いていて、中は鮮やかなピンク色です！肉質なとても柔らかく、噛むたびに旨味が口の中に広がります！塩と胡椒で味が付いているので、そのままでも美味しいですがらソースを合わせることで、肉の旨味がより引き立ちます！ビールの苦味がステーキの旨味を引き立ててくれます。とても美味しいステーキでした！

A must place for dinner. Placed reservation online and they had text reminders and texts letting us know when our table was ready. Got there and when I let them know we were there, a team of guys began to prepare our table. All workers were dressed well and had very distinguished manners. The ambiance was also amazing. From the moment we sat at the table our waiter was quick and efficient on getting our drinks. He was incredibly knowledgeable wanting us to ask him questions about any of the drinks, appetizers, entrees, anything on the menu. Appetizers came out quick and we’re delicious. For entrees I ordered the wet aged filet which was cooked perfectly and was incredibly tender and delicious all throughout. My fiancé ordered the crab cakes which also were perfect every bite all the way through. All waiters had a perfect balance of asking if we needed anything and giving us personal space to enjoy the meal. The mashed potatoes and asparagus sides were delicious and cooked perfectly. All food came to the table right off the grill/stove. After the meal, our waiter made sure our plates were out of the way fast and did not immediately rush us with the check allowing us to sit and enjoy our drinks after the meal. The leftovers we had were taken care of by one of the waiters, they didn’t just bring us a box and make us do it. All attention was focused on us and making sure our dinning experience was the best it could be. Paid a little under $300 for the entire evening, however it was worth every single penny. This was my first fine dinning experience and I was blown away. I highly recommend RARE for anyone and everyone who wants a nice sit down diner in DC. RARE earned everyone of the five stars given.

Came here for the last time a year ago on a business trip. I couldn't wait to get back this year. And RARE didn't disappoint! Everyone at my table agreed that it was one of the best steaks they'd ever had. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
