Food was excellent and the service was the best!!!
It is unfortunate that a new experience with such outstanding food and service was tainted by a complete lack of ability to match the excellent qualities with a halfway decent code for dress and ambiance. Sat next to a table of 5 men who arrived and were served wearing workout attire, with ball caps turned reversely. Were they pro football players who came to simply "put the feedbag on ?" They certainly acted in such a way, and the price we paid for the meal was certainly not justified considering the cafeteria-like atmosphere.
Excellent traditional steak house.
Eduardo and his staff have elevated the experience of fine dining in DC.
Butcher & Dry aged steaks in house... Fresh Oysters!
Food was great, server was great, wait was inexcusable. 8:30 reservations but not seated until 10:00!
Came to celebrate a birthday. The service was good and I appreciated my waiter. He was very attentive and quick with bringing out the food and drinks.
The food was a bit too bland for me, the lobster bisque wasn’t thick and very watery. The lobster Mac n cheese lacked salt and seasoning. I had the 14 oz NY strip and I felt it lacked a proper sear and flavor.
Everything was amazing, great ambiance & food! We started with a caesar salad split, and for dinner we had the Porterhouse steak along with mashed potatoes & asparagus.
We had a nice meal. Relatively pricey. Service was good. We both ordered different steaks at the same temperature. But we had to send one back because it was very rare, which was surprising at this level of restaurant. They were very apologetic and it was corrected immediately. Dessert was cheesecake and honestly it was not very good which was surprising. More like a boxed mass produced version. The berry coulee with it was excellent! Wine selection was very good.
Great service from the moment we walked in until we left.
Great steak house with amazing service.
Great Romantic spot...just was disappointment in the size of the food...I bought some salmon and it was $45 ... took me all of 3 minutes to finish...lol...
Literally a hidden gem. Most exceptional service I’ve had in a while. Food was great. The staff was very attentive and the food “chefs kiss”. Definitely will be one of my new favorites in the district 💣
We went for my birthday and it was absolutely fabulous!! I had to wait until my friend parked the car, and they gave me a glass of wine while I waited. The wait staff was very good, from the moment we sat down. They paid enough attention so your needs were covered, but they weren’t overbearing. The food was spectacular. We started with the oysters that were delicious. The steaks were cooked to perfection and accompanied with scallops, absolutely wonderful. We had mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts that had our taste buds dancing. The vanilla cheesecake was to die for!! The price of the meal was normal for a quality steak restaurant. Go enjoy yourself it was worth every penny!
Service, Food and atmosphere are all exceptional. A great special occasion, date or destination for carnivores experience. Great wine list and cocktails.
Has to be the best steak I have had and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. I highly recommend eating here.
Server was obnoxious
Amazing food, the truffle butter was so savory and our steaks were cooked perfectly. The lobster Mac and cheese is also a must!
Rare Steakhouse has never disappointed! The service is always impeccable, the staff never skips a beat, they all work as a team instead of individual servers. Even though it is known for its steaks, which are incredible, there is something on the menu for everyone. My wife's starter was lobster bisque which she was still talking about the next day. Our steaks were done to perfection, the sides of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were also delicious. And of course, who could resist the desserts, not us, the vanilla cheesecake was the perfect end to our experience. We look forward to our next incredible meal at Rare.
Very good food in a ver nice environment. Service was also outstanding
My steak and the other filet was awful- I did t even eat it. The veggies were over seasoned with cinnamon. I have been there
Prior and it was terrific but this was really not worth the price of the food on the menu.
Overall: slightly above average
This place is pretty fancy, and old timey. As a millennial I wouldn't expect to go to a place like this but I wanted to try Waygu and they had it. Overall, not too bad!
Excellent dinner venue for an amazing get-together with 4 guests. The setting was superb, and the meal was delicious.
This was my first dining (2/14/21) at RARE and baby!!! they did not disappoint. I ordered the Salmon with the Jump Lump Oscar as an add-on. Just amazing!!!!! I cannot wait to go back.
David Morris is the best. He took care of table and made us feel at home. He's the best of the best!
We went for a nice Valentine's dinner and the atmosphere and services were very good but I wasn't really impressed with the food for the price. Everything tasted rather bland except for the drinks, beef tartar, & dessert. For us, this was a miss and were foodies.
I wish I could remember our servers name. He was awesome!
great service will visit again, fast and good .....
Steak was wonderful, ambience was wonderful, a little bit pricey but it is a top notch steakhouse, it was well worth the price.
We went on Valentines which I’m sure was busy. The server did not come by in a timely manner despite low capacity and small table size occupied. I had a few menu questions and the sever was unnecessarily snarky. We finally ordered our food, then 10 minutes later were told they were out of one item so we reordered. 10 moire minutes later they came back and informed my partner that they didn’t have his main course so he had to reorder a second time. It was hard to get the servers attention when we needed the bill which showed they weren’t keeping a close eye on their tables. When we finally got the bill, they gave us a different tables check that had totally different items and a $100 bill difference. They gave us the right check and had failed to remove the drinks the maître d’ had said was on the house due to the inconvenience. We had to ask about getting it removed which the server did not seem happy about. They removed it and we paid, but not before being able to her the server complain about the maître d’ and other tables, which was unprofessional.
We were excited for first nice evening out in quite a while but it was not very pleasant.
My husband and I had an amazing time at Rare Steakhouse. David, our waiter, was very informative of the menu and exceedingly attentive. We ordered the beef tartare, crab cakes, 4 oz of wagyu, filet mignon, and scallops. David was extremely polite and answered all of our questions. The restaurant was clean and the tables were socially distant.
Food was delicious. Service was great. Drinks menu was good for wine drinkers. Not many specialty drinks on the menu. Great restaurant will revisit
Fabulous food & service!
We had a great Galentine. ❤️
It was a great Atmosphere, the wine selection they had was great. Now let's get to the food the Beer tartare was a nice appetizer to start our meal, for the main dish we got the bison steak which our waitress recommend it was very tender and tasted amazing highly recommend it.
We have been wanting to go here for a long time. We finally made it. Not sure if we’re going back, definitely missing the “WoW” factor.
This time the steak was hard to chew. The last time when I was here back in October my steak was very delicious and easy to chew and the reason I came back again. Both times I ordered the prime dry aged NY Strip (cooked medium)
I took my husband for his birthday and he loved it. The service was amazing and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend!
Stopped by Rare on a Saturday night. And it had the kind of vibe I was looking for. Very classy and quiet. The service was exceptional, with quality food and craft cocktails. Special shout-out to Andre the bartender who caters to the needs of his guests and always seems to come up with the perfect concoctions. The products behind the bar are top-notch as well (From a vast selection of wines to whisky, rum, Gin, Vodka...) It's safe to say you will leave Rare satisfied and wanting more. Expect another visit from yours truly!!
Best Ribeye I have ever had! The food was incredible all the way around and the service matched. Excellent restaurant.
