Birthday dinner for a friend
Great ambiance and service was excellent! Will definitely dine here again! Large portions with enough food for leftovers. Try the blood orange sorbet and the colossal chocolate cake to share. You will definitely leave satisfied!
Great service, great food! Went to celebrate a birthday. Birthday girl got a special menu and one to take home and a generous piece of chocolate cake for us all to share. Will definitely go back!
Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Feels like a classic high end steak house.
2nd time dining here, first time was really good. This time was a little disappointing. Both my wife and my steaks were average at best , I actually think they mixed our orders up. Waitress was pleasant, bartender was very nice as well.
Katie and Peter our severs where absolutely outstanding!! Food was phenomenal and that atmosphere was first class, highly recommended.
We did not enjoy our steaks. Waiter was awesome and restaurant was very nice. We’ve had better food.
Rare steakhouse is a 4 star restaurant in my eyes, they would be a 5 star restaurant but it it took 45 mins to get seated even after we made reservations, so that was disappointing, but the food came fast and the food was great, the service always apologized and offered a free appetizer for not getting seated on time, also they were very nice and polite, I would recommend this place to anyone in the Milwaukee area over any other steakhouse
We arrived 15 min. early and were properly greeted, enjoyed a drink in the bar until our table was ready.
Once seated we were greeted by our waiter and served complimentary popovers which were undercooked inside.
Had an order of A-5 which was spot on excellent.
Ordered the tomahawk ribeye which was done properly inside except the outside was more or less burnt! More than a light char... I ate most of it because I’m not one to cause controversy while trying to enjoy a meal. The lobster Mac and cheese was just ok. After our plates were taken (crumbs from the popovers remained) we were never asked if we wanted dessert or an after dinner drink, instead gave us 2 strawberry’s and the $366 bill. (Which I wouldn’t have a problem with if the food and service was good) I really expected more from such a highly rated establishment.
Despite it being Valentine's Day, food was spot on and delicious, service was perfect. Peter made us feel right at home and we enjoyed a fantastic meal. Thanks!!!
Great seating environment. Great service. Food was awesome and will definitely be coming back. There was a smaller child across from us, but thankfully they left right away. I’m paying to enjoy great food, not be concerned for your rambunctious child. Thanks!
Food and service was top notch. 50% off Wine special on Friday was a nice surprise.
Rare was an amazing steakhouse. The care they take to give you a lovely experience is outstanding. Their dry aged meat is nutty and delicious and you can tell their is dedication to food when being prepared. My only real complaint would have to be the baked potato. While the outside of it was done enough, the inside was a tad undercooked for my liking. As I was full from everything else and didn't really eat much of it, knowing my reheat process was going to cook it fully, I didn't say anything, and it could of just been my opinion. I know they would of baked it longer or got a me another one if I wanted, so really it is more my fault for not saying anything. This place is amazing and if you have the opportunity I would check it out.
Great spot for lunch or after work drink + dinner. Food always good. Staff is excellent. Music can be too loud for business discussions and weird selections.
4.9 stars -almost perfect
This was our first time dining at Rare. It was my birthday so we overindulged with lots of sides. Brussels sprouts flavor and texture were fantastic. Creamed spinach and hash browns and mushrooms were also spectacular.
My main entree was a filet which was very juicy and tender.
They serve Yorkshire pudding and it was the best I’ve had.
Our server, Raj, was very attentive and personable. The coat check young woman and hostess were very attentive and kind also.
I love the ambience at Rare too.
Obviously, I would highly recommend this restaurant!
Great food, drinks, and service!
Old-School, Supper Club feel. Historic vibe in a new building. Charcuterie board disappointing, sides delicious, steak only average. Inconsistent service but friendly. Quiet, relaxing environment.
My husband, adult son, and I went to Rare for the first time, to celebrate my husband's birthday. Although pricey, it was a special occasion, and the food was excellent, (even for me, not a meat or seafood eater). The service was also stellar. Even though we declined to order dessert, the server brought us a huge piece of delicious chocolate cake, to celebrate my husband's birthday, and wrapped up for us what we couldn't fit in to our already full stomachs. Just a great experience. Will definitely dine there again, for special occasions.
We had a great time at Rare. Our server was knowledgeable and clearly enthusiastic about the food he was describing. He made sure we had a great experience from start to finish, and his recommendations were spot on.
Went to Rare for a quick lunch meeting. The host asked if we preferred a table or booth (which I always appreciate) and we were seated right away. Our server was polite and professional and asked if we had any time constraints (which I also really appreciate on a work day). I had the Ahi Tuna Poke appetizer which was really, really good....just a little hard to eat. I've had dinner here many times and the food is consistently amazing. The popovers alone would bring me back.
Love Rare. Food is outstanding. Wine list is excellent. Atmosphere is relaxing. If I have one criticism, it’s that the music is a bit too loud in the dining room. I love the music selection; the volume is just a bit high in my opinion. Highly recommend Rare. It’s on the top of the list for favorite places to dine. 🍷❤️
I travel for a living. Eat at great restaurants. This has to be one of the best I have been to. Good service. Probably the best steak I have had. Dry aged. Totally different flavor then your normal wet aged steak. Just awesome.
Very nice restaurant, great for special occasions and date nights.
Katie our server/Captain helped make the night memorable! Food was 110% as always. We look forward to being back!
Nice dinner. Got seated near the kitchen so lots of traffic and activity.
Food was very good, but both the steak and the brussel sprouts were too heavily seasoned. Missed the flavor of the actual food. Funny, because the person that recommended we try this place said the steak was blank to his tastes. I guess we both went on the wrong night or should have ordered for each other.
We'd return, but would be wary of the heavy seasoning and avoid those selections.
We had one steak that was a bit under done and some lack luster crab legs. Overall the meat was excellent and ambiance very nice
Their steaks will not disappoint you
Anniversary excellent dining experience
One of the best places to have a steakhouse experience in MKE. Highly recommend any of their aged steaks. If that’s not your thing, have the wet aged steaks. Just as good, just flavorful in other ways. They have a great wine list that I feel is fairly priced for a restaurant. If your into food and wine, this place is a must.
The food was great, the server excellent. My only complaint is that it was too dark.
Good service and good food. Restaurant god noisy at times.
Loved everything! Our server, Quinn, was amazing - knowledgeable on all products and pairing as well! We will be back again!!
Staff was very friendly and well trained. Service was prompt and timing between courses was on point.
We really like the ambiance, lost points for slower drink service, oysters given were West Coast even though we ordered East Coast. Waitress was personable and conversed with us. We appreciated that the chef visited our table towards the end of the meal and that the waitress asked how we wanted the check split.
