Although the restaurant ambience was beautiful, the food was ok but not that great for the price we paid for ($378!!). The Tomohawk steaks we ordered, one was too dry and the other was not medium rare as order. The baked potatoes were dry as well. The vegatables and drinks were good. I must say our waiter Tanner was excellent! We took care of all of our needs and exceeded above and beyond customer excellence! Overall, the restaurant I thought was a bit too pricy and overrated.
Excellent food and service.
Justin was our server and he was top notch. He was warm and engaging. His knowledge of the menu was excellent. He was very professional and prompt and was a wonderful server. He was very attentive and we did want for anything during this meal! It was an exceptional evening out! Everything was wonderful.
very very good. it is pricey but worth it for a special occasion
Food was delicious. Oysters tasted fresh and the pork belly was top notch. By far the best was the waygu beef. Worth every penny. Steaks were cooked perfectly and server was delightful and informative.
It was a great experience.
Maybe our level of anticipation was too high, but outside of Tanner the server, our experience was poor at best. We were seated near the party room, which had a large gathering including children who kept running through the restaurant. I had to ask the manager multiple times to close the door or reseat us. My favorite part of the meal was the popover. My steak was grossly overcooked, my wife's 6 ox filet was average at best and the market price for a lobster tail was $110. The restaurant was about 1/2 full and the turn time of our food from order to app to meal to desert was almost 2 hours. Rare is extremely over priced and we will not be back. Many other choices in Milwaukee for much better steaks, service, atmosphere without the egregious price tag.
Just not as good as in the past. Service was inattentive and not up to par
Peter was our server; and he was phenomenal! Friendly with great personality and recommendations. Every bite of the food was simply delicious, from appetizers to entrees, and can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend when your budget allows.
Great food & great service! We will be back!
It started off well. Inside had an elegant set up and we were seated immediately. The seating however; was too close and awkward I could easily look into the eyes of everyone at each. No intimacy or privacy. My appetizer, porkbelly, wasn't what I expected and management volunteered to comp it which was nice. Entre took a very long time to come about 1 hour in. Steak was rare and not medium rare as requested. It also had no flavor. I mentioned this to the waitress. She was condescending and short with me. She said that it was medium rare and that she could make it medium. As if I I've never had a steak and didn't know what I was talking about. Bottom line food wasn't impressive, it was a waste of money and I should have picked somewhere else.
Great food! Great atmosphere!! Great workers!!! Thank you for a wonderful night!!!!
Dinner was amazing and our server Charity was pleasant and took great care of us!
Food was great and drinks were yummy. We had oysters, king crab legs, and a New York strip with mushrooms. I had the bees knees for a drink and had to order another. For dessert we had an espresso martini and bananas foster and everything was delicious.
Overall experience was great. Our server Quinn was excellent.Only issue is that our steaks were mixed up,I ordered mine medium and received my fiancé’s medium-well.She got my medium with the surf and turf on top.Wasn’t a huge deal but for the price you want what you ordered,we didn’t have time for them to redo order and just ate what we had.
It was my birthday and I'm so glad I spent my night at Rare it was beautiful and my family enjoyed it tremendously!
Love this place. However, wait staff did not do the best job of spacing tables out. Also, also a diner was consistently coughing with no mask on and the waitstaff did not address the potential hazard.
Server was attentive, but not obtrusive.
Steaks had a nice crust and were served at the requested temperature.
I surprised my fiancé for his birthday, everything was fantastic!
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Rare steakhouse. Our server, Justin, was attentive and took time to answer our questions. I had the waygu and my husband had the porterhouse. Best steaks we've ever had. We paired these with the lobster mac, crispy brussels, and roasted mushrooms which were all great. The ambiance in the restaurant was romantic and cozy. We will definitely be back!
I have been to a few steak houses in Milwaukee but this was my first time at Rare. It was the best experience from the staff to the food I’ve had. I cannot wait to go back.
Food and service were excellent!
We had my birthday dinner at Rare. The ambiance was beautiful. Having visited many dry aged steakhouses all over New York where it started I was expecting my Milwaukee dry aged Tomahawk ribeye to be on par with my previous dry aged experiences. It was not. The Au Poivres sauce was possibly the worst sauce I’ve ever eaten, and I’m all about an Au Poivres or bordelaise on my steak. I ordered a Four Roses bourbon old fashioned, I received a Makers Mark old fashioned. Our waiter did not wrap our leftovers or offer any kind of birthday item despite other guests in the restaurant receiving that level of service. Rare left a lot to be desired. Don’t waste your money here, just go to a chain restaurant or any other steakhouse in Milwaukee. 5 stars for booking, 5 stars for ambiance, 2 stars for service, and a 3 for the cooking. And no way are they dry aging those steaks.
Great food, served by great people! Charity and Justin were wonderful.
Awesome dry aged steaks and a great atmosphere! Will def be back
Excellent environment, Clean, Great food Steak phenomenal and We had a banana dessert prepared at the table with flames, cinnamon sparkles, a la mode something you must try! very unique dessert our server was Justin great guy He has very good recommendations for your starters.
Definitely We will come back!
Great food great service! Our waiter Pete took very good care of us!
Excellent food and the quality was top notch! Service was great as well! I highly recommend!
Came here for my 21st birthday and the experience was great, just like the food! High class ambient with good food and drinks to pair. 5/5!
Very pricey for steak that isn't cooked right. Manager just took it back and had it reheated. Didn't offer to comp anything. If your paying that much it should be right the first time every time.
The ambiance and service was great. The quality of steak was good, but lacked a lot of flavor. For the money you pay and the flavor of food you get is very mediocre.
Excellent ambiance and very intimate dining. However, the steak was a serious disappointment especially at the price, I've had better at a supper club; very chewy for a filet and not much flavor. The lobster bisque was top notch but they give you about 2 oz for $13. It was good for a one off, but I doubt I'll go back.
Social distancing and consideration for others health was great. Felt safe here. They were out of some liquor bottles which was odd. Steak was great and sides were ok. Service with Raj was excellent!!!
