We went for the first time for my boyfriend's birthday and I was really disappointed. The service was not great. To start, we ordered fried green tomatoes which had crab- there was a lot of cartilage or inedible bits. The main dishes each lacked flavor. I had a summer pasta for $26 that was just okay. I had to flag down the waiter to order a drink, order food, and get our check. I also specified when I booked the reservation that it was for a special occasion- my partner's birthday and there was not even a mention of it. Overall, for the price there are far superior options in the neighborhood.
I rarely write reviews and I am beyond understanding and sympathetic to the struggles restaurants are facing right now. I was just really let down.
We sat at the bar and the barista was amazing she made the best margaritas and my food was perfect I got the chicken and waffles
Food and atmosphere were great, but I was disappointed in the service and felt like it was overpriced.
Great atmosphere and staff. Delicious food
One of the very best restaurants in Dallas.
Great place. Fantastic food. I gave this. 4 on the food/drink scale because I felt the drinks could have been better. The food was amazing. Delicious
Better options abound…rushed service (asked to clear our plates at least 3 times with half the small portion still on it)…just a forgettable experience and nothing to write home about
We have been long standing customers of Rapscallion and have enjoyed every meal we have ever had there. This was our first occasion to sample the new menu and the new Chef. We were not disappointed. We started off with the bone marrow and the burrata tomato salad. The bone marrow was wonderful and the burrata was fresh and clean. We both wanted some sort of bread or cracker with the burrata, but it was none the less an amazing dish. My wife had the summer pasta with shrimp and I had a off menu fish special. Both were excellently prepared and frankly two of the best things we’ve ever eaten here. 10 out of 10 recommend.
Overall nice experience. Service was friendly and prompt. Fried green tomatoes were fantastic; drinks were perfectly made--the guys (and gals!) behind the bar always knock it out of the park. My entrée however was just plain terrible: the mackerel special was overcooked, but cold, lacking in flavor, and for all intents and purposes inedible--as in I had only 3 bites before giving up. I'll chalk it up to a one-off since this is my first bad experience in several years coming; it won't deter me from coming back.
Easily the best meal I can recall having, of any caliber of restaurant or cuisine in Dallas, in quite some time.
This was our second time to eat here. Loved it just as much this time! Food is so good. Great service too!
The food was very good. First time visit but we will definitely be back.
Lots of interesting and tasty dishes in a nice but still relaxed setting. There was plenty of parking in the shared lot down the block and the surrounding neighborhood is a great, lively place to stroll through.
Nice and quaint. Great service. Friendly atmosphere. Very limited brunch menu.
This was my third trip, two previous trips were with my daughter for our birthdays. Great food, great service. This trip we had the fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs. I had the pasta with shrimp for an entree. My date had the tomato salad. We could have easily just enjoyed the appetizers. My only regret was we didn't have more time to spend there, relax, maybe have more cocktails and desert. I look forward to visiting again.
Food was amazing. The service was unbeatable. Can’t wait to recommend to all our friends and family.
Service was excellent, very attentive.
Dessert was too sweet, rose super dry but those are all preference things.
Great biscuits and cocktails! We were not big fans of the chicken. It super breaded. The gravy on the chicken and waffles was awfully heavy too. Too much savory not enough sweet. But the folks were friendly.
This was our first time here, but definitely won't be the last. Everything was delicious!
Second time coming here for brunch and still not disappoint
Outstanding service and food! Our first time there last night for our 40th anniversary and we couldn’t have been more pleased. Save room for dessert because the key lime pie and the bread pudding were amazing. Definitely coming back!
Great food and service! You must give it a try! We will return soon.
My go to place in lower Greenville. Never disappoints!
Nice restaurant. We were visiting Dallas for the weekend and decided to try Rapscallion. It was Saturday night at 7 and it was decently busy. Service was fairly quick and server was courteous and helpful (since this was our first time here). Drinks came quickly. We enjoyed the ribeye steak along with the greens and Mac/Cheese. Food was good. Don't know if we'd make a special trip to go here again, but it wasn't a band experience.
Food was about a B and service was slow. Service was nice, but did not come by table enough.
The bone marrow was delicious and the service/staff was exceptional. I was very impressed by the team and service. top notch!
We loved the food and the service! Our server was on point the whole time!
It was my first dining experience and it was a going away celebration. The wait staff was exceptional (Stephen) and the food was outstanding. It was a memorable day for the honoree.
Started at a high top right by the bar and there was some very obnoxiously loud patrons at the bar. The restaurant was very accommodating and let us move outside even after we’d ordered drinks. Service was very good throughout the evening. We got a little parched on water not being refilled, but I’d still rate the waitstaff as very courteous and outstanding at bringing food and overall service. Maybe leave a carafe of water at the table. Not sure if we just picked an odd table outside but the flies were a bit overwhelming and brought down the overall experience. Maybe somehow put some flytraps on the ground outside. Food was overall amazing! I’d definitely come back.
Food and service was excellent. Made it in time for half price wine bottles which was a nice surprise. Shortribs and Pasta entrees were really good
Loved the pimento cheese appetizer. The flat steak entree was delicious. Finished off with key lime pie. A fine evening of dining. Hats off to the bartender for a perfect Collins cocktail. Service was friendly and helpful. She really enhanced the dining experience.
Would return. Thx.
For a Wednesday night I am not surprised after we had our mediocre food that it wasn’t busy… won’t be going back
The server was outstanding and the food was better. My wife and I had a great experience.
Excellent, inventive dishes. Great wine/beverage offerings. Low-key, knowledgeable, helpful waitstaff.
Best oysters I’ve ever had
Rapscallion was absolutely outstanding. Best food I have eaten in years at a restaurant! Service was excellent too.
Rapscallion is back and performing at its pre-covid excellence. Hostess, wait staff, bar, and food prep and delivery were superb.
This restaurant is amazing. From the service to the menu, they are one of my new favorites. I’d recommend to anyone-cool, fun but not too noisy for conversation. Also light in color so very nice ambiance.
Love love love this restaurant! B
