Great neighborhood gem. Delicious brunch items. Service is definitely better here than at some of the places along this strip.
Great ambiance & over the top service!
This place has amazing food. It's such attention to detail in the service and food
Is 30 minutes a long time for a coffee?
St Patrick’s Day Brunch
The chicken fried wagyu was amazing - as was the appetizer of monkey bread. I went here for brunch with a friend - there was room on the patio and the service was solid. Bloody Mary’s were excellent as well.
Food was amazing. Seemed like they were under staffed, at least at the bar
We caught them on a night where they were understaffed and busy. Our waiter had way to many tables and he clearly did the best he could but we waited 20 minutes for our oysters , 40 minutes for our salad and 75 minutes for our food . The shrimp and grits was just not cooked properly and the flavor overwhelming. The Mac and cheese was excellent however as were the biscuits. The oysters were average. I’m sure on another night it may be a different story but it definitely was disappointing.
Outstanding food! This place did not disappoint. The chicken wings and pimento cheese board we’re awesome apps. I had the chicken fried steak....fantastic. The fried okra was maybe the best I’ve ever had. Staff was great...It was my birthday and they went out of their way to make it special. Another awesome establishment by Chef Nathan Tate....he’s a great guy!
Date night with my fiancé. Made it for the last few minutes of half priced bottles and enjoyed an incredible Pinot Noir. Food was amazing! We had the shirt ribs and the duck confit fried rice. The general manager spent a lot of time talking wine with us. We will definitely be back!!!
Would not recommend to a friend based on the prices; it is too high for what you get. We visited because Southern Living Magazine recommended them as one of the best restaurants/bars in Dallas. I am not sure whose palms were greased or how that honor was bestowed on them but trust me, it is not deserved.
Delicious fried chicken
Awesome steaks and awesome management!
Rapscallion is a modernly rustic establishment. I have been twice - once for dinner and once for brunch. Now, I believe the food is great. But, I believe it's slightly overpriced. Their food should be a smidgen cheaper based on their portion sizes. As far as service, both experiences were lacking. My first experience, the host essentially hinted that we shouldn't be there. He gave us snide looks, judging our clothes. We almost walked-out, but we didn't want to give him the satisfaction. Now, this recent service, the hostess was great. She was very polite. But, our server wasn't very attentive. I don't really blame him because it was busy. They seemed to short-staffed. Then again, we spent thirty minutes trying to pay our tab... Now, would I go back to Rapscallion? Probably not. Would I recommend trying it? Sure. It does have a great atmosphere and the food is tasty. I just prefer cheaper prices and better service.
Great steakhouse but we prefer to get things that are unique. Rapscallion didn't disappoint! The Bass was great as were the Chicken and Dumplings. They also had a special salad with grilled lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and dressing. I won't attempt to name the ingredients in the dressing but it was fabulous.
Our waiter continued to check on us in a helpful and non-interruptive way - pouring waters, replacing used silverware, answering questions about the menu, etc. He had deep knowledge of how the chef prepared each dish and even knew the different types of grapes in the wine - excellent.
It's not a formal place, so jeans or Khakis are more than adequate. I highly recommend.
We had the Valentine’s Day fixed-price meal and to say it was underwhelming would be an understatement. The food was mediocre at best and the service was unbelievably slow (we sat with finished food plates for close to twenty minutes). The only thing that was expeditious the entire meal was being brought our bill. For the $200 we spent for two people to dine, it was 100% not worth it.
Went out for an early valentine’s date. Wonderful food and drinks, as well as a very attentive without being overwhelming staff.
Excellent food. Great wine list as well. Fried chicken was very tasty. Ambiance was nice as well.
A fabulous evening: yummy food, exceptional service, fabulous atmosphere! We loved it and we’ll be back!
A great go to spot. I always have something different and never disappointed. Everything is always so unique and delicious.
Delicious food with superb service.
Our favorite restaurant. The food , the drink and the service are all excellent. Also the bar has a fireplace and is so cozy on a snowy night!
Excellent steak and salad! We were seated immediately and our server was a gem.
Best biscuit I’ve ever had in my life and the fried chicken was something special. My new favorite Dallas spot!
Great service and good environment
Rapscallion’s was good. We’ve dined at the other concept owned/operated by Nathan Tate (Boulevardier). Of the two I’d have to recommend Boulevardier over Rapscallions and for no reason other than noise. It’s a little energetic in there… The menu was also a little limited for what we were looking for. But the service and drinks (and most especially, the dessert!) were on par with the other similarly sized up-scale casual restaurants we go to. Overall a good experience – but Boulevardier is better (...just our opinion).
We were a party of 4, none of liked our entrees. Then, that green stuff for vegetables was not palatable. we did like the crab salad appetizer. Don't think any of us will be returning.
The venue was great.
Sadly I wanted chicken pot pie and by 745 on Friday it was already sold out
Server maybe seemed a little overwhelmed. Took him 19-15 minutes before he even greeted us.
Will definitely return hoping for a better outcome
Fantastic brunch!!! It is quite simply amazing food.
Servers were quick and friendly. This was an early dinner, so they helped us get in and out in good time. Both ordered the 12oz ribeye which came out perfectly cooked...although I'd prefer to have known they'd slice it beforehand so I could have asked that it not be. Two or three small smashed potatoes came with. Overall a filling, well-prepared meal. No leftovers. Huge plus was finding they do their normal 4-6pm happy hour on Saturdays as well as weekdays. I will definitely remember that point for future Saturdays.
Good old fashioned southern food, with a serious gourmet touch. My wife and I enjoyed our entire experience. Drinks made the way I like them, and attentive service really made our night.
Delicious southern style food prepared with a modern flair.
Wow wow wow! Food was great, I loved my Blue Crab and Pulled Pork Noodles best of all, but it seems pretty difficult to make a bad choice on that menu. The most notable point of our dinner was the OUTSTANDING service provided, not only by our waiter but also from the in-house sommelier! Knowledgeable, funny, and honest! We will be back!
We used to love this place. The food, ambiance and gorgeous dining room have brought us back time and time again. However, our last two experiences have me questioning a return. We went for brunch last weekend. Staff was unfriendly and even seemed irritated when they had to open the doors to us for brunch. We arrived about 3 minutes early and were forced to stand outside the locked doors in the cold staring at the receptionist and a waiter playing with his Rubik cube until precisely 11:00. Not a good start, but I can overlook if food is good. Lately, their signature chicken dish has been dry and
Had a great birthday dinner. The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing.
The food wasn't completely cooked for our appetizer, which they were kind and took the initiative to remove from the bill. The entrees, however, were incredibly lack luster and luke warm at best. The restaurant wasn't busy enough to justify food not being served immediately, so we had a couple bites and ultimately requested the bill to leave and find another place to grab brunch.
Rapscallion never disappoints. They execute a slightly-left-of-center Southern menu with attention and humor, and their signature chicken is solid every time. My only reservation about the space is that it still feels very Dallas to this Carolina transplant, which isn't much of a criticism at all but can feel a little too cool even while you're enjoying biscuits and okra.
I enjoyed having a date night here with my hubby. I would have liked to see larger portion sizes considering the prices, but overall we had a good time. I also thought the chairs were uncomfortable. The food tasted delicious and the drinks were crafted carefully. Our waiter was very attentive, and we enjoyed the
