Great Experience overall. Food and drinks are amazing. My monk fish came out a little cold (this has never happened here before) and they took it right back and cooked a new entree which was piping hot within 10 minutes. Really appreciate their service and overall quality of the food served. Love my date nights out here and will definitely be back!!!

I can't believe that it was so loud. Not the music, just the noise. I won't call it energetic. The bar is right at the middle of the restaurant. The noise was almost unbearable. After we sat down, I can hardly hear my guest or the server.
The server was very attentive, but slow. Food is good. But I won't come back.

Overall, I think this restaurant is overrated. Greeting at door was lukewarm. Arrived a little early for our reservation and were directed to the bar inspite of the fact there were many open tables at the time. Food was just OK. My monk fish was dry and the potato purée amounted to a couple of spoonfuls. The brussel sprouts were delicious. The oysters were good but at a price of $2.50 a piece, they should be. Had a very tasty Old Fashioned at the bar but both the wine and cocktail were over priced. Service was attentive, but slow to get check. The smoke, due to the open grill, bothered my eyes. Again, overall, just OK.

Excellent service and atmosphere was exceptional. The food was awesome and the oyster recommendation was fantastic. The price was reasonable for the fine dining experience. Looking forward to my return visit.

Never disappointed. One of our favorite dining spots. Only wish they would be a little more generous when pouring wine by the glass or serving mixed drinks.

Had an amazing dinner date before stepping off for DWTS. Started at the Bar for drinks and oysters and there was an excellent selection of craft beers both local and afar. Surprisingly there was also a great selection of cocktails which went well beyond a jack and coke or gin and tonic. We opted for our go to with a nice IPA and a Glass of wine. The dinner menu, while not huge, offered some creative options that piqued my interest and we have been luck enough to enjoy some amazing foods all over the globe. My meal stole the show. I asked for a double app order of grilled octopus and kindly the chef obliged including an additional order of braised fennel that was unbelievably tasty. The only downside of our dinner was when we ordered the apple cobbler, which unbeknownst to us cameout hot. So hot I fact, I left with a burn that blistered because the server fail to warn me the plate was scorching. Kind of dampened the moment but I still can not hold that against the rest of the staff and all they had to offer. I’d still go back, it was just that good!

I did not find it upscale as reviewed or to be a happening place to be. The food was great but very small portions. Entrees do not come with salad or bread, that’s an extra charge. The bar is half stocked at best with very few call brands. Atmosphere is a little mundane. Service was good. The oysters are nothing to rave about except they were good size but overpriced at $2.25 each. We left hungry and stop elsewhere. To sum it all they have good but a little overpriced.

Started with amazing oysters and a delicious wood-fired octopus appetizer. Bartender crafted two outstanding bourbon drinks. Ordered the wood-fired fish and monkfish for dinner - both were fresh, flavorful and delicious. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, allowing us to enjoy our drinks and food at our speed (especially nice since it was New Year's Eve!). It was a great experience!

Poor service and waiter was not attentive. For item I wanted was told it would take 35-40 mins so I ordered something else. It still took just as long. Once we were done, he wouldn't come back to check on us. We had to flag the host down to get the check.

We love Rappahannock! As a native Richmonder who now lives out of state, their fresh oysters are a treat and there locally sourced cuisine reminds me of all the great food the Old Dominion has to offer.

Food and drinks were excellent. Only complaint is that it is cold in the dining room if you are anywhere near the front because the front door opens right into the seating area and lets cold air in. A curtain would help.

My wife and I have wanted to get here for a long time, but man, was it worth it!
Finally made it for our 6th wedding anniversary...
It is rare for us to get to anywhere which has had so much prior good reviewing and have it still able to live up to expectations and then some!!!

Free Prosecco toast for the occasion was a nice light, dry surprise. Best Whiskey Sour in 20 years and a really surprising non local craft Stout.

Seafood in all it's glory, creatively, beautifully balanced in both classic and more modern plates of wonder.

Appetizers and salad were fabulous with a fresh lemon vinaigrette, and a Yellow Fin Tartar opposite a fire grilled Octopus...and each flavor was clear and perfect.
If they have the Paella be sure to get it...and the Monk Fish was also perfect.

Only things we could even think to ding at all was, The watermelon gratian was a bit too strong and sweet for the flavor of the oysters and trout caviar In the Oysters and Pearls. We also arrived at 10 to 5:00 and got seated almost instantly, and the place was almost empty, but by 7 the place was standing room only, and sitting at the plate glass windows, the combination of the crowd noise and the music reverberating off of the windows was overpowering for both of us...Fortunately (and Unfortunately) since we were done and hand absolutely no room for dessert, which is another major pleasure with this establishment and it's offerings, we departed at that point.

We now have a wonderful anniversary memory to share, a great meal to remember, and a favorite seafood place to go to hopefully once a month or more!!!

Price was above median, but honestly we really feel like we got not only true 'foodie'
quality creations and ingredients, but we also feel like we got a real value as we were both delighted and truly satisfied...

My husband and I ate here before seeing the Nutcracker downtown. We really enjoyed the restaurant itself with the nice large bar area (even though we sat at a table) and the open kitchen vibe. The food was excellent and the waitstaff was knowledgeable. My husband got the local pork chop and stuffing dish (a huge meal), which he happily finished every bite. He also enjoyed a sample of each of the oysters they were offering that day. I had the wood grilled scallops, which was a very nicely size, light meal before a show. It was a Friday during HH and the likely a large crowd from the theatre, so our service suffered bit where we didn't have time to have coffee/dessert by the end of our meal as our waiter was preoccupied with other tables. But we made a 5:30 reservation to make the show at 7 and we were at the theatre with a good 15 minutes to spare. It did seem a little on the pricier side for what we got, but it certainly wasn't a disappointment. We really enjoyed the meal overall and will definitely be back.

Given its reviews, my experience was disappointing. The food was bland, and not really as described by either the menu or our server. For example - fisherman's stew was more like fisherman's (thin) broth. The grilled bread was more burned than grilled, and affected the overall flavor. Although we don't normally use salt, the omission of salt/pepper on the tables seems a bit pretentious when food is not seasoned well.

GONE WAY DOWN HILL! We have enjoyed Rappahannock for years, but our last meal was sub-par. The (pleasant) waiter did not know the wines. The wines seemed to have a 100% mark-up ... and the selection of whites was lousy. The bread was served cold. Three of our party of 4 ordered the scallop entree, and everyone's was extremely over-salted.

Wasn’t a fan of the tartare but the octopus, baked oysters, and entrees made up for it all 👌🏻 We had a busboy remove our wine when we went to smoke but the waitress and management fixed everything, we will return.
