Great food, fantastic service. Our waiter even asked if we were seeing a show later(we were) and if we needed to be done with dinner by a certain time.
Always a great service, food and drinks! It’s our place to go for seafood.
We had some long waits between orders for food but not really worried.
Food and service was wonderful! I can’t wait to go back!
The oysters and pearls, tile fish and lamb were simply amazing! I also loved the "Dealer's Choice" cocktail where you get to pick your poison.
Oysters and mignonette were outstanding, as were the bourride and tile fish.
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and it was an amazing experience. The staff was wonderful. The food was incredible and perfectly prepared. Some restaurants excel in the appetizers others in main dishes and others in desserts. This meal was superb start to finish. One of my top 5 restaurant experiences ever.
Thank you for this! We are so glad you enjoyed everything. Happy anniversary!!!
Visiting Richmond we checked out restaurants and Rappahannock got great reviews and was a short walk from our hotel. We both had the highly recommended paella and it was great. Lots of mussels, shrimp, clams and chorizo. The gazpacho was very creamy and the beet salad was very sweet. Our server, Esther, provided excellent service. I recommend anyone visiting Richmond plan to dine here.
Hi Mark, thank you for the kind words! Can't wait to have you back soon.
Thanks Kim! See you soon
Delicious and innovative tuna crudo recommended by our server!
Great food! Great Service! Lovely and hip atmosphere.
See you soon!
The food was absolutely wonderful. The service was top-notch. I would definitely recommend and go back
Can't wait to see you soon!
Wonderful experience as always, food was prompt and perfectly balanced.
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed everything.
The knowledgeable and welcoming servers are always focused on my enjoyment. I think the oysters are amazing and everything else I’ve tried has been delicious and unique.
Thank you for this kind words! We are so glad you appreciate everything we do and we can't wait to have you back for more!
Excellent food, service and drinks
Thank you! Can't wait to have you back soon!
The Oysters were great for appetizer. The entrees were very disappointing. I the Bourride and it was too bright and acidic. The haddock was over done. The egg was perfect but got lost in the rest of the liquid/soup. It was underwhelming. My wife had the crab pasta dish and she said there were too many sesame seeds and that she did not enjoy it.
If we came back it would be for the oysters before dinner.
Hi Jeremiah, thank you for your feedback. Please look for a private message from us!
Incredible. Would definitely go again
All of the food was delicious, but the oysters were phenomenal!
Been to Rappahannock for dinner before but this was first time for lunch. Lunch options we tried were all great. Fresh fish for fish sandwich was skate wing and was done up to be very flavorable. Burger was slightly overcooked (cooked medium well vs medium ordered) but was still very good. Tuna melt was also delicious. Will definitely add this place to list of excellent lunch choices in downtown Richmond area.
Best meal we have had in awhile. Fresh food with unique menu that offered a great deviation from the usual fare that seems to be served at most restaurants.
This is the second time we have been to Rappahannock in as many months and had a wonderful time. The food, as always was stellar, our server was knowledgeable and prompt, and the hosts made sure we were happy and pleased with our entire experience. We ordered the market fish (Tile) and the whole fish (Branzino) which were both cooked to perfection and served with sides that complimented their flavor. The desserts we ordered (Gelato and strawberry shortcake) were delicious and the perfect end to another great dinner. Thank you to everyone at this RVA culinary treasure!
I'd certainly recommend Rappahannock to my friends--in fact, I already have. Ada's service was excellent; she was knowledgable about the food and helped us make our choices of dishes we were not familiar with. The food was excellent. My second glass of wine came out a little bit later than my entree--they comped it, which was unnecessary but much appreciated.
It’s a great restaurant in a maybe questionable location on Grace St, a little on the expensive side but the food and service are top notch!
Greg, our server was outstanding. Food was great as usual.
Poor lighting, loud, too expensive. Great wine and superb service with a very limited menu. While my Tilefish was delicious, it was a small , uninteresting and an overpriced dinner. My friend ordered the scallops which were also yummy, but definitely the size of an appetizer in any other restaurant. So, I will not return when there are other places to explore!
We decided to try the Rappahannock as we passed through Richmond one night. Made a reservation, but probably didn't need it was a Monday night. It was a long, hot day and we needed some excellent drinks and the Rappahannock did not disappoint as we grabbed a couple at the bar. We started with oysters and they were superb. Our daughter ordered the Crab Fettuccine while my wife and I both ordered the Bourride. All the food was excellent. We server was on top of his game ensuring we had everything we wanted at the right time. We will be back next time in town.
Wedding anniversary! The food was good but expensive.
Food was great, atmosphere nice, service was outstanding. I’ll certainly go back!
Great food, imaginative bar menu, fresh seafood. I wish the portions were a bit bigger and the price tag was a bit smaller.
Highlights: whole fish entree, and expertly mixed Manhattans.
The food was excellent and service was very good. It's a bit pricey
The atmosphere was very welcoming. The open bar in the middle made it easy for conversation and created the place to look huge. The waitress was excellent. Very knowledgable about the menu and recommendations. We started with the half shell oysters. They were really great! The menu was very slim. No appetizers or sides to go with meals. My date got the scallops. The meal was 4 medium sized with a carrot slaw. They were wood grilled which made an awful taste on this delicate seafood. The meal would have benefited from a carb. I got one of their main dishes. She described it as a french comfort food. What i got was a bowl of soup with chicken and oysters. Topped with a piece of bread and a runny egg. I was highly dissatisfied from what she described to what was brought to me. The price of my dates meal was $35. For 4 scallops over cooked. Very sad because we will not be returning to dine here or recommend this place. Way too pricey for the distasteful presentation.
The food was excellent...innovative and thoughtful. Service was efficient but not intrusive. However, the noise made conversation difficult at times. Something to soften the noise would be appreciated.
Amazing service and the food was amazing! We make this a staple every time we are in town!
Paella was fantastic
Excellent oysters and knowledgeable waiter.
Our waiter was very helpful in explaining the menu to us. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners, scallops and lamb; both were delicious with interesting sides and tastes.
Four of us had dinner here on a Saturday night before Father’s Day, and we were seated in the quieter room off the main room for our 7:45 reservation. This was good, as the main room’s acoustics aren’t great, and it was loud. In summary, our food was delicious (oysters and clams from the raw bar, ceviche, gazpacho, seared tuna, tilefish and crudo) and our waiter was very attentive and professional. The only ding in the rating is due to the fact that it took forever for our entrees to come out after the appetizer course. We were provided with a free plate of ceviche despite not complaining about the wait, which was a welcome gesture.
Great food. Jason was our server and he was absolutely fantastic. Very knowledgeable!
